If the Pacquiao fight falls through who do you see him squaring off with?
I'd say Amir Khan and Sergio Martinez are the front-runners. Clearly Martinez is the better fight, but his drawing power is yet to be seen. I don't see Floyd fighting Cotto due to Pac already beating him. And no one at welterweight is going to fight Paul Williams. Margarito cant fight in Vegas. Other possibilities are Berto, Bradley, Alexander....
I'm seriously leaning toward Khan due to his quickly-achieved fame and the fact that he's under Golden Boy. I know Khans said he's going to unify 140, but I think he'd jump at a chance to fight Floyd.
....or Floyd will just retire. What do you think?
Sergio Martinez
Tim Bradley (only if he fights and beats Berto next, then maybe a top WW)
Andre Berto (only if he fights Clottey, Mosley or Cotto first)
Paul Williams (if Haymon shoves a sock in it and lets it happen)
Angulo isn't necessarily a household name. He has the potential to be what Margo used to be, but he's not there yet. GBP didn't finish building up Khan or making money off of him yet so that's not happening, Alvarez is friggen 19 years old give me a break, and anyone who says Ricky/Matthew Hatton or Nate Campbell needs to grow the hell up.
The only fights that can happen this year are Martinez and Williams. Berto still needs like two good wins and so does Bradley.
I just cant see anyone else giving Floyd the ppv numbers he wants. Floyds not dumb he fights like a strategist and thinks like one as well, he's not going to fight a Paul Williams or Sergio Martinez for probable sub par ppv numbers, too much risk little reward.
To put it bluntly, If the fight doesn't happen, I say Floyd walks away from the fight game (for now) theres no one else that will give either man the pay day they want or maybe need.
I can see Pac fighting Cotto or Margs, but thats just because we know he'l fight lesser names like Joshua, he'l do whatever uncle Bob tells him to do.
Doesn't mean Floyd will have to follow suit mate!
WTF is wrong with you today mate? What have you eaten for bfast lol?
Im on my new diet for the summer...lol
I had 6 egg whites.
2 slices of toast.
1 banana
1 tbsp of peanut butter
I don't understand much of the people here on this forum
If Pacquiao faces Clottey, Cotto or Marg its ok because its not very competitive, but at least he is active.
I mean if he doesn't fight Floyd he should fight someone else in the meanwhile... and that's great in my books
If Floyd fights someone, he will get bashed cause it was never a competitive fight... if he retires, he's a coward because there are so many "competitive" fights for him
Which one is it?
A Williams fight would never happen man. When Floyd is retired Haymon would still have Paul .The fight will never happen.
No Floyd will take what brings the most money, we know that.
Khan
Alvarez
Angulo
Martinez is Plan B I believe though.
I wouldn't be fine with that. As I said, Mayweather is on the decline and he's gonna need every bit of himself to be able to beat Martinez, Paul or Pacquiao. He shouldn't be wasting his time with Angulo, Alvarez, Khan, Margarito or Cotto; no offense to the 5. As for money, Mayweather can sell on his own. 1.4M against Mosley proved this, money should no longer be an issue for him.
Fuck Pacquiao, I couldn't care less who he faces man. Mayweather isn't getting any younger, he's already on the decline. So he has to take on opponents that would challenge him. It should be Mayweather vs. Paul Williams or Martinez, those are fights that would actually increase his status.

Ofcourse they arent. Pac isnt about to take a competitive fight either. (Marg, Cotto) ring a bell?
You actually think Bradley vs. Floyd will be close? He rapes Bradley.
He doesnt have alot of options. No one mentioned it having to be competitive.

Disagree with the red. Those aren't competitive fights man.

Sergio Martinez

Amir Khan
Saul Alvarez
Andre Berto
Paul Williams
Alfredo Angulo
Miguel Cotto
Antonio Margarito

you really believe that?
I don't think Floyd would really consider either of those guys. Clearly they're the best fights for the fans, but Martinez is fresh off being an unknown and Pwill is both dangerous has that fabled lack of drawing power.
Burner mentioned Saul Alvarez, that's another good one. You know Floyd loves milking those Mexican fans. Plus he looks white, so he'll get love from all the white people that want to see Floyd lose.
Id say Khan and Alvarez are the fights, because they're acceptable to both boxing fans and marketable to the mainstream. They both have ethnic and national fans backing them. Khan is the bigger star so I really see him getting the nod, though.
If Pac-Floyd doesn't happen, I predict Pac will beat Cotto (again) and Floyd will beat Sergio Martinez. Floyd's PPV will outsell Pacquiao's (again), and he will have even more leverage for the next time they try to negotiate a Pac-Floyd fight.
