Cotto gave all the fans what they wanted.. he had a 50 / 50 chance in a fight you either win or go back home with a loss. Why hate Cotto when he never ducked anyone he fought the best and fought with all his heart never gave up even when he was bleeding.
This is a true warrior and a true boxer... not like many others that only fight for money and pick their fights....
I will always admire Cotto for giving us big fights. It is easy to say now that he is damaged, it is easy for everyone to always look down at a fighter when they fail...
Try getting inside the ring and facing the same opponents Cotto faced... do you think you wouldnt be damaged too?
when did he avoid mayweather at 140?
In 2005... his handlers said that Cotto wasn't ready.
Fair statement... he went to the Olympics 4 years after Mayweather, and probably wasn't ready for the P4P #1 at that point.
I don't fault him for it, or think any less of him for that. That was merely being realistic about things at that time.
Savor..
Honestly..you are my favorite fellow Cotto fan on this site bro..you speak with knowledge and sense...which is rare around these parts..
What surprised me more about the Mosley-Cotto fight, wasn't that Cotto began to Box going back and effectively winning atleast 2 of the 4 rounds he did it in, but the fact that Kellerman and Steward were shocked like they've never seen Cotto do it before..I immediately thought of the N'dou fight..and they were the "professionals"..I know they won't remember every fight punch for punch..but COME ON!.
Than the haters here called him a "runner"...shame..
Cotto is the true definition of modern day warrior, only person he didn't acknowledge that I can think of was Paul Williams..but who can blame him, I still wouldn't be surprised if I saw that fight made at 154 in the future..Cotto won't turn down a fight..I don't see who can hate that..
I always point to the Abdullaev fight as the perfect example of Cotto putting on a boxing clinic.
These guys act like he was this straight forward monster all the time and when he switches his style up hes all of a sudden hes a coward and a runner? get real.
Cotto always had a nice balance of boxing/slugging/pressure and should never be defined as just one of those type of fighters.
The people who talk the most sh*t are obviously the people who havent followed him throughout his entire career and they never got to see the different aspects of his game.
I also feel that with the Pacman Fight Cotto really missed not having Evangilista in his corner, and he just didnt have a good motivator or somebody to help him out with a Plan B.
Hopefully now Manny Steward is the man that can change all of that for Miguel
'Warriors' don't take a knee.
'Warriors' don't backtrack and run to survive.
23 yet so immature..dammit what's this world coming to?..
A Warrior is someone who won't turn away from a challenge..A Warrior is someone who doesn't look to take advantage on the scales..A Warrior fights to win every fight he's in..even if he KNOWS he has no chance..
kneeling an "running" is what keeps Cotto from being a Warrior..
name someone with a similar or better resume of fighters who's a Warrior in your eyes..
Haters complaining about haters... how ironic is that? anyway I agree Cotto doesn't deserve some of the criticism he gets the only fight he's avoided in his career was mayweather at 140. I've always admired cotto and thats the god's honest truth. I just don't think he's as special a fighter as advertised. He is a very good elite fighter but i don't consider him great but none the less he is a warrior in the ring and he has some heart.
when did he avoid mayweather at 140?
I can tell. The only fight where I think he was fighting to just survive was against Pac.
Against Margarito, I legit think he like didn't even really know what was going on, he was just fukking done.
But against Pac, I mean he fought his ass off in the first half of the fight, and I think he just knew he couldn't sustain that pace and tried to survive.
Against every other opponent he's fought his heart out. Against Clottey....that was a nasty gash.
And people unjustly give him shit about the Mosley fight. His pressuring style is his own worst enemy. I mean, going back to his fights against Abdulaev and N'dou....when he's fighting guys that are just not gonna go anywhere, he boxes, and because of how he bullies some guys, people look at that as running or being soft, when really it's just being smart.
Savor..

Like Kevy Kev said. Fuck Cotto. Now that I stop to think about it, quadruple fuck Jotto. In his ass, in his eye sockets, in his mouth, in his ears. People talking about this guy fighting like a warrior just because he was cut against Clottey. Hello. Plenty of guys had cuts like that and didn't run like Cotto did. How about Williams when he fought Martinez? Or Gatti against countless guys? Or Marciano against Walcott? Those guys are warriors.
Now Cotto stans get out your red K. Oh, I forgot. About half of you don't have any to give. Lol.
I always said you had a man crush on Cotto and now you are throwing around "Hellos". That is so girly like of you. LOL
Well at least im 1 of the few whos got mad respect for Cotto, dude is a damn warrior man, even when he was dominated by Pac, he never waivered, instead gave himself a new challege at a higher weight class... im interested to see who he might be fighting next.

Also Mayweather has illegal tactics why cant he fight clean if he has the talent why does he uses his elbows all the time???????
I have to say I hate the guy because he does not give us true boxing fans the fights we want to see thats alll..... dont go overboard ... I say the truth the guy has the talent but everytime there was a mandatory fight or a challenge he retired....
Cotto gets shitted on too much here
people who diss him do it because of his fans
Cotto has exciting fights with tough comp
I agree he shouldn't be hated
The only thing I have to say is Gayweather has the talent but lacks the Courage ....
And no one can say that Gayweather has faced tough opposition he cherry picks his opponents...
Can you say that about Cotto?
That is the time I became a Cotto hater as well. His delusional fans talking shit about my fighter. Before that I didn't even care who Cotto was, I just wished him the best in fights and kept my eye on him until his dumb ass fans started talking shit.
El Protagonista is probably, hands down, the best Cotto supporter on here cause he's not delusional. There's also a few other good fans. A few.
The minute you become a true hater, like yourself, you are no longer a true fan of the sport.
i've always liked cotto. i only dislike the guy when there's an insinuation that he was "ducked" by mayweather. get real, fellas.

From a Cotto hater to a Mayweather hater: FUCK Miguel Cotto, as a boxer! His fans are trash.
Boxers have haters, whether it's because people can't stand their delusional fans(like my case), or they just don't like the fighter. Live with it. Mayweather has haters, Pacquiao has haters, Williams has haters, the Klitschko's have haters. It's part of the sport. It's part of any sport. Look at your damn sig "Mayweather hater". GTFO.
:bottle:

When Cotto was at 140 I thought a match between he and Floyd was inevitable. I also thought (of all the 140lbers at the time), that Cotto had the best resume there. Considering both were in the same stable, I never once considered one ducking the other. Business first, sport second.
Agreed. Only some of the Marg fans. I used to love both equally. But I won't front, I wanted Margarito to win when the two fought because he was hated on so much.
Anyway, no one should hate on Cotto. Classy guy. Respectful outside of the ring; a warrior in it. Doesn't quibble over money, nothing.

You're definitely missing something sir.
Cotto has several high profile haters who consume their time on this board for hating on him. It's actually pathetic.
me neither...only from margarito fans.
