Hearns would look silly get taught a boxing lesson for 12 rounds.

Hearns outboxed Ray Leonard. Mayweather would be child's play for him at 147.
I always thought of Hearns being the worst fight for Mayweather. Very tall welterweight, Long reach and knew how to use it, jolting jab, and a right hand that could drop guys two or three divisions up. I think Mayweather would be crafty enough to survive Hearns winning a UD.
Hearns' left hook to the body would be the key to beating Mayweather and his defnsive style. Once he landed a few and got Mayweather's attention he would be able to find room for a right hand over the top.

There are only two people in the history of boxing who beat Hearns at 147.
Sugar Ray and Sugar Ray.
Everyone else Hearns beats the ever living sh*t out of.
Hell if fights would have been 12 rounds Hearns would probably be 2-0 against Leonard as he would have won the first time and Leonard likely would have not become the media darling he was that allowed him to escape the 2nd fight with a Draw.
in a 12 rounder i could see floyd eeking out a close decision but a 15 round fight hearns would have a good chance for a late round stoppage or ko. that being said i dont think floyd would fight him if he was around today, hell i dont think many of the welters of today would fight him.
IMO if this fight lasted 15 rounds I would give floyd the last three rounds.... If floyd lasted 8 rounds I don't think Floyd would get KO'd. I think floyd's is a lot better conditioned than Hearns was at Welter but I'd pick Hearns to take this fight though. I agree with you though that floyd probably wouldn't have made a major WW run if a fighter like hearns was around.

I'm in no way a Floyd fan but it says alot about how good he is that people have to dig out Hearns/SRL/Sweet Pea/Duran as fighters who could beat him. It's only when you bring these ATGs into the equation that people are confident enough to pick against Floyd - and they do it with such relish too. They've finally got one over Floyd/Flomos :lol1:
lol.... you right though
There aren't many WW's in the history of boxing that I'd favor over Tommy Hearns. Anything can happen in a fight, but if I had to place a bet, I'd put my $ on the Hitman.

Actually I only made this thread because of the Pacquiao Vs Hearns one.
Just wanted to see how people think it would play out :D
Mayweather would probably do better then most because of his defensive style if he was apart of that ERA but I still think Hearns right hand and size would be too much for even Mayweather
As highly as I think of Mayweather's boxing prowess, Hearns would literally destroy him. Nobody in the welterweight division could even hang with any of Hearns' top opponents: Duran, Cuevas...
Tommy was such an underrated boxer...his power just tended to hide how good of a boxer he really was.
Floyd would have never gotten close and when hit with the same couple of right hands that someone like Mosely landed...lights out.
Floyd, Pacquiao and Cotto are too small of welterweights to hang with Tommy Hearns. They would all get viciously knocked out.
In fact, if Tommy Hearns were in his prime today and at 147 I bet none of those guys I listed would be welterweights they would all be fighting at 140.
Ha... I concur again. It would be a mismatch... I think floyd might be savvy enough to go the distance though. Neither Manny nor floyd would be in the WW division if Hearns was around and rightfully so because it would be a big mismatch.
another all time great Duck by Floyd. He would never fight someone as vicious and brutal as Hearns. if he does, Thomas Hearns would literally kill him.
