I know there are a ton of Manny P is on this or that thread but I would like someone on here to offer a good explanation of how Pac moved up weight classes came in at his heaviest weight and then proceeded to throw by far the most punches of his career in a fight.
Pacquiao: Punches thrown: 1231; punches landed: 246
Clottey: Punches thrown: 399; punches landed: 108
This is a specific ? regarding the punch volume and of particular interest the amount of power punches thrown by Manny: Pacquiao threw an astounding 682 power punches and landed 232
I have yet to get a satisfactory answer as to how he pulled this off, hoping someone can help me understand otherwise I have to think Ariza is definitely slipping Manny some wonder juice.
Hey, Im not trying to start nothing lol but look at Pac's face/head size in the Boxing Scene header, and look at it now.
I looked at all of them,
Floyds head covers up more space than any of the others.
hmmm. Just another clue that Floyd was using before he suddenly retired.
Pac fought a turtle shell fighter in Clottey. Pac was smart enough not to load up and try for a KO. He just unloaded a ton of shots. It's inherently easier to get off a lot of shots against a guy who ain't punching back. He had free reign to just rain a storm of punches down on the guy. Nothing complicated about it.
someone already posted the numbers for diaz. it was in the 800 range. not 1200
Do you believe the numbers in Diaz fight?
If you do the math
( 800 divide by 9 ) times 12 = 1000 + punches right ( round 9 was not even complete). Pac showed no signs of fatigue And Diaz was fighting back. It would not be far fetched to think that against an opponent covering up ... Pac could throw 200 more in a fight.
He's on PEDs, is that the answer you were looking for?
Seems no matter how you answer or explain the answer they want to hear eludes them.. I think you nailed it on the head, yeah thats what he wants to hear.
go up against a punching bag like the clottey that night and see if if your punch volume would go up. i bet he always had the ability to throw over 1k punches but when you go against opponents who actually punch back, you're likely to hold back some.

do you know that there have been quite a few fighters who have thrown more right?
ibeabuchi and tua threw about 1000 a piece in their fight. these were heavyweights.
dumbass people don't know shit.
Wow...just wow...is it so hard to believe that Pac can throw over 1000 punches over 12 rds against a moving heavy bag? It's not like he's ever been to known to cover up and slow a fight down till I fall asleep...
I'm sure there has been some agreement by now since I only read the first page.
As others have stated, Clottey played into Pac's advantages perfectly by just covering up. That fight was only what, like 2 lbs above the Cotto fight which is not really a big difference in weight to have such a big difference on punching stamina.
Roach even said in interviews that they always have to restrain Pac when training because he trains so hard and would overtrain if they did not intervene. A guy that is going to counter him and try to make it a fight would limit Pac's output to a degree but punches in bunches is Pac's game. Nearly every time he throws a combination, it is at least 4 or more punches where as most guys do a 1-2 number and then block or move out of harm's way.
Good post. Pac only threw 600+ in the second Marquez fight and only 780 against Cotto. Pac threw so much more against punching bags like Clottey and Diaz.

Simple. coz he is not like Floyd Mayweather who is afraid to throw punches even if his opponent is already hurt.
Pac has killer instinct and will try to knock you off unlike Floyd who is just contended in outboxing his opponent. :boxing:

In this particular fight, Clottey decided he didn't want to fight. Manny hit a punching bag for 12 rounds. I'm sure if there were more punches being thrown by Clottey, the output would have been less.
Next, a power punch as you know is everything but a Jab. The term power doesn't necessarily mean he was throwing each one with everything he's got.
Go to the gym, and hit the heavy bag for one round and do a punch count, then multiply that by 12..and you sorry to say do not come close to the stamina, athleticism, or even a fraction of what he can probably throw in one round of hitting the heavy bag...
...and i say heavy bag, cause it's not hitting back..that's the point.
Shit is really extra, extra, extra retarded around here.
Its to the point where people just start thinking of new ways to tear someone down when there is no basis.
Almost like Kobe Bryant and his detractors.
"Kobe can't lead his team to a finals victory, win finals MVP, shoot 100% for the night, get 25 rebounds and 10 blocks,
hes overrated".
LMAO at your sig Cavs fans were crying when I said you are all witnesses when kobe went off in Pheonix. LakeShow ALL DAY!!

I ask you this, have you ever starved yourself before, lost lots of weight?
I've been ill once and lost 14lbs. All I can say is I didn;t feel very well.
Making weight must be very hard and effect something.
The other issue is who you face. If someone is not throwing back and you hit all your shots, be it glvoes, you have strength, if you miss you kinda lose a lil bit and get more tired.
Thirdly, if a fighter has a jab and left only, then compare him to having many shots and angles that has been developed over 8-9 years, then ofcoruse you will have mroe output because you have more ideas to throw and it's harder to defend agaisnt.
Goodness no one on heer on this site knows if Manny is cheating or clean. Dead topic.
He might be clean , he might be a cheat.
If manny might be, it must go for all other fighters as well.
why doesnt the US government have this potion yet??????????
A side meth is Filipino gold.
They're not giving that up, especially to the US govt. Shit makes bullets bounce off of asses man.

Neither guy in your avatar will ever be able to throw twelve hundred punches in training, let alone a fight.
ohhh ouch good one. Is that your thing? u get your feelings hurt in a discussion and sling fanboy quality insults. dude ur pathetic. Again I hope Manny is simply a great fighter. Many things make me wonder though, things I am trying to reason out.
