Why is Amir Khan Fighting Lightweights?

Khan's dad recently confirmed that he will face the winner of marquez diaz next. I think this is criminal. On 15th May Khan TKO'd malignaggi, who himself beat Juan diaz in an easy decision. If Diaz wins, Khan will not only be fighting malignaggi's leftovers, but also a lightweight, who has proven that he cannot be effective in the jr welterweight division. Juan Manuel Marquez, has been through so many wars in his career and when he fights Diaz he would have been involved in another brutal Mexican war. If Marquez comes out of this fight the winner, it is quite reasonable to suggest that he will be a "worn out" opponent just like Barrera. Marquez is also a lightweight, who I don't think has fought a single fight in the Jr welterweight division. He would only have one training camp to adjust to the new 140 pound weight limit. Juan Manuel marquez and Juan Diaz are not even contenders in the 140ib weight class let alone titleholders. A list of Brutal wars Marquez has endured: Manny Pacquiao (x2) Juan Diaz (x1, soon to be twice) Marco Antonio Barrera (x1) There are probably some others, please inform me. Khan fans can you honestly tell me that Marquez, even though a lightweight, is in his prime? But simply, why is Khan fighting lightweights?

GB is a business, there is a reason they are one of the two biggest promotional companies in boxing. It is their job to promote & protect their fighter, all at once setting him up in, what many of us call, "safe fights." As fans, do we really want to see Khan vs Diaz? F*ck No! But who expects Diaz to win? A fight between Khan & Marquez, elevates Khan's popularity and to most fans is a decent enough fight to watch. How many people actually pay attention to the little things, like weight and age? Certainly not minor details to me, but to the casual boxing fan, that's going to turn on the TV, they're going to say, 'Hey that Marquez guy fought Pacquiao pretty well, he must be damn good!' When in reality, this is a mismatch. It is a very well timed business decision by GB, this isn't the first time they've done something like this, especially with Marquez, but what the f*ck are we going to do about it?

No he wasn't and thats what's clearly wrong with the sport, 4 champions in 1 division. The consensus is that Bradley is the man to beat and second is Alexander is a clear second, when you throw in there that out of all the champions only Amir Khan has been defeated and in the worst fashion but still collects the biggest paychecks u then understand why his management is safeguarding him for now. SUX I know but its salty business. I don't think his management is confident in his chin.

Did Andre Ward fight bums as a title holder, or did he take on legitimate contenders for the title? No he wasn't and thats what's clearly wrong with the sport, 4 champions in 1 division. I think they are trying to move him along like Andre Ward, he fough a lot bums over the course of 4 years and his game matured and now he's a serious force to reckoned with. There ain't much he aint seen in the ring and he can make great adjustments. Putting him in with Bradley/Alexander right now might put a cap on his earning potential and destroy all of his confidence. I know, It doesn't make sense why he is picking on leftovers. Khan can get away with these joke fights against small guys because his gullible fan base will stand for it and finance it. There is no demand at all for Bradley,Alexander or Maidana to fight small past its. So they are forced to look at real fights to make money. Khan has a lot of Klingons around him with their nose in the trough. His extended family, Team Khan etc. None of them want to see the wheels come off the gravy train.There are reports that Shah Khan was unhappy that Warren was going to fix a fight with Maidana and signing with GBP was a great way of ducking out of that. If this is true the extended family influence is not to be underestimated . His handlers at GBP know he is fragile but know there is a gullible fan base they can tap into. When you add it all up it is obvious he is going to be fed canned opposition. Only when the fans get fed up and won't suffer and finance these charades will Khan be forced to fight real fights. But they seem so gullible and long suffering that I just don't see that happening. I hope the WBA start considering to strip his title, if he doesn't hold of contenders like maidana. Unless GBP has already paid them off.
