Seriously, all this talk about who did win it, but think about this who has had the most success in the last overall decade? I mean he has 2 of 3 controversial losses(JT 1/Calslappy), but talk about someone who has the most names on his resume in the last 10 years, he fought everyone. Trinidad, DLH(younger but bloated), RJJ(super old), undefeated Pavlik, Allen, Joppy, Holmes, Winky, Echols, Tarver. Dude owned the MW/LHW, and controversial loss at SMW. He was dominate for the whole decade, rather that 7 years.
Did he deserve it more than Pacman? I think so he fought prime fighters. More importantly he was way past prime when he fought the majority of these fighters. Does he deserve the nod? I think so, but I'd like the more educated fans to respond, if you are not going to be objective please do not post in this thread. Pactards not welcome here, Flomos not welcome here. I think PBF is the only fighter with a legitimate case against B-Hop.
the great marvin hagler did a similar thing. I think the thread starter has got a point. Hopkins had over half of his 20 defenes of his MW title in the decade. He lost twice to Taylor, but then jumped all the way up to LHW and beat the linear champion in Tarver. whooped on Winky, when nobody could really figure him out and beat him convincingly. Then his last greatest feat in destroying a young less drunk pavlik after pavlik destroyed taylor and people felt like Pavlik was gon send Bernard out of here on a stretcher. Bernard has got a case!
Hagler's most notable fights were against the smaller guys moving up, but Hagler beat some quality middleweights on the way to the title and also defended against some good ones too (Hamsho for example).
I personally think prime Hopkins and prime Hagler is close to a pick-em, in fact I actually slightly favor B-Hop, but Hagler fought better MW opposition and as a result of that, I'd probably rate him higher on the all-time MW list.
Nah, it's either Pacquiao or Mayweather. I'd choose Pacquiao.
People knock Mayweather's win over Hatton because Hatton was better @ 140, well look at a lot of wins for Hopkins. DLH wasn't much above 154, Trinidad was better below 160, Wright never did anything above 160, Pavlik's most notable fight above 160 was a rematch win over Taylor. Others will knock Pacquiao for certain fighters being past their best or weight drained, but Tarver didn't exactly seem like he was in the best of shape when he fought Hopkins after coming down from being a fat HW in Rocky Balboa. He looked lethargic throughout.

Joppy did get exposed by cheating wraps McTrinidad, but why should he be punished for being hit by casts? Did you want a list of the nobodies Pacman fought? Keep in mind this isn't fighter of the year, this is fighter of the decade and I am going with whatever has been accomplished over a decade span not over 3-4 years of great managed fights.
For the sake of arguing with facts as the basis, can you show me the record of suspension or other disciplinary action that the NY Athletic Commission gave Felix Trinidad for fighting with "casts?"
I'm not talking about wrapping the hands in a way that is only legal in certain commissions (because some commissions like Pennsylvania allow you to put tape directly on the hands). You used the word "cast", which implies that he was using the substance Plaster of Paris which Antonio Margarito was caught with.
Can you please explain to me how Trinidad used "casts", because as far as I know, casts consist of something more than tape.
Same can be said about Pacman fighting nobodies till 03(after Hop had a name and fought all timers). As far as the popularity of those fighters, those were like the Corley's and Mitchell's of the upper division, yet everyone get's love for winning over them. Pacman also fought people out of weight class, is fighting a smaller DLH all that much better than fighting a DLH that needed IVs to even enter the ring at 34 or was it 36?

Why can't you have a real boxing debate? Every time I think you're a mature poster you go say some dumb sh*t like this. Come on, get serious.
Tarver may have not been focused but he was much more than a B fighter at the time.
My definition of a Class A fighter would be prime Toney, Jones, Calzaghe, Mayweather etc.
I can't put Tarver in that class, whats your definition of a Class A fighter?
Hopkins had gobs of years where he did squat, particularly after the Tito win. Carl Daniels and Hakkar? I don't think so. Joppy had already been exposed. Robert Allan? And I feel sorry for anyone who thinks the Oscar victory was significant other than popularity-wise and financially. His other wins were against opponents who fought out of their weight class and some have even diminished over time (Pavlik). It's pretty clear why he wasn't in the running for the award. And this is coming from someone who respects Hops a great deal.

But this is fighter of the decade not flavor of the month. Pacman has been in it for 7 years. B-hop owned the entire decade, is it not fighter of the decade?
IS IT NOT FIGHTER OF THE DECADE? I guess fighter of the last 2 years is worth it.
end thread.
I don't even think Hopkins got a single vote.
??? pac just got the FOTD award......aside from the JT and Calzaghe loss....hopkins did jump up 2 weight classes and beated tarver then winky wright....
His only win over a prime fighter, fighting in his dominant weight class is Tarver, who is at best a B class fighter. In order to get wins equivalent to Pacs win he is going to have to fight at cw, something he never did, or will ever do.
Fighter of the decade: Pacquiao

Just end the thread, I am going to get torched guys, let it die. I just think historically no one has accomplished what B-hop has over the last decade.
I lost, I secede.
