I personally don't think he ducked half those guys most people claim he has, but I do think alot of fighters have little confidence in Floyd given them a shot at fighting him.
For instance Paul Williams recently stated that he would rather call out Pacquiao than Floyd because at least Manny would be willing to face him. I have also seen this lack of confidence in other fighters as well when talking about Floyd facing them. Not hating, but this Is how I see it as far as other boxers view Floyd.
Sure some do view him liek that while others do not, the whole fact of the matter if any fighter finds themself in the position Mayweather currently has they will end up doing roughly the same thing.
History has proven that.
I think once a fighter is at the top or near it you will hear detractors saying they ducked people. Floyd gets it a little more than usual and people rewrite history. After all it was this past September that Floyd was ducking Mosley apparently. Looking at what people say now it doesn't appear much has changed. Its interesting because I saw thread after thread about how he was going out of his way to avoid Mosley and how he has ducked the man. Now since he fought Mosley in his next fight the conversation has shifted to the next Guy he is apparently "ducking".
most fighters I talk to respect the shit out of Mayweather. Some do not like him or his personality but know just how good he is and know that he would fight anyone. A few think he legitimately ducked a few fighters
Floyd fought some very tough fights when coming up. Now since he is on top, he can choose what fight is right for him. He has very carefully constructed his legacy, but is not a ducker. He has been in several wars and proved victorious. He is the best boxer of the decade.
Yeah, Bernard doesnt care much of Floyd.
James Toney has went on the record to say that he feels Floyd is scared to fight Pac.
Toney has reversed his stance since then.
I don't know where people get that other fighters view Floyd as a ducker. Some? Yes. Others? No.
His confrontations with Bhop are always amusing, he's one who definitely thinks Floyd is a ducker.
Yeah, Bernard doesnt care much of Floyd.
James Toney has went on the record to say that he feels Floyd is scared to fight Pac.
I think Floyd being a 'ducker' is the most exaggerated thing in boxing if you ask me. Cotto, Margarito in 2007/8 yeah he probably should have fought. But after that nothing really strikes me.
I think they do and they dont really like him for that. When I met Paul Williams @ the Pavlik/Martinez fight he thought Mayweather would lose to Mosley and their was a bit of disdain in his voice.
yeah they do because he doesnt fight all of them, every single person of stature in boxing from 106 at ivan calderon to middleweight at paul williams has called mayweather out, he chooses who he fights, they dont get to chose
