Boxing really is about 90% mental. He was faced with a situation he didnt think he could overcome, that being Floyd Mayweather. He didnt have the mental fortitude to overcome the huge obstacle standing in front of him. No different than when a fighter is hit with something hard, thats pain, the body sends a signal to the mind that we dont like that feeling, its up the fighter to overcome that and say, so what, Im going to get this done by any means necessary.
When Shane got countered, when he got hit with shots he didnt see coming, when he got hit with shots he knew was coming but couldnt get out of the way of, he started to shut down, after seeing things he tried wasnt working he eventually went into survival mode and was happy to go the distance.
The man knows what he is talking about. Mosley wasn't gassed out he simply for the first time in his career was the slower man in the ring and he didn't know what to do. Add to that he hit Mayweather with two BOMBS and while he buckled Mayweather he didn't put him down I'm sure that took some mental game out of him too.
Wait, so Mosley obviously couldn't get to guys like Forrest, and Wright, and got beat up worse in both fights combined....yet somehow he will never be the same? It makes no sense.
Mosley was gone by the end of the second round. A round which Mayweather hadn't landed one significant punch. You must admit that it had nothing to do with Mayweather besides the fact that Mosley really really wanted to beat him.
However, how do you guys think Mayweather deals with a guy like Mosley in the beginning of the second round? Better yet, that wasn't even Mosley then.
The two punches Mosley landed in the second round resembled a man who just treaded waters for two hours and went up for his last two breaths of air
You guys are funny and stuck in denile. We told you before the fight Mosley was near 39, lost 5 of his last 15 and hadn't fought in a year and a half. And you guys were like "No Mosley is a great opponent for Maaaayweather"
And now we say it again after the fight, you guys say we are making excuses for why Mosley lost.
It didn't. He got frustrated because Floyd survived his onslaught and walked him down afterward. He was taking a beating in that fight and shut down mentally.
Mayweather is a slow starter, he often spends the first couple rounds just observing the opponent. He only threw 23 punches in the first round, 26 punches in the 2nd round. Then he started fighting seriously, and averaged 43 punches per round for the rest of the fight. Rather than Mosley slowing down, it was really Mayweather who sped up.
.......another good point. :boxing:
this is why i also think Manny's best chance is in the first 12 minutes.

38 years old or not a fighter just doesn't get tired after 2 rounds (6 min ). He just don't get tired after 2 rounds. Delahoya didn't even get tired after 2 rounds and delahoya sometimes has problem with fatigue after the middle rounds.
As Check Hook said, Mosley only has a plan A. Once plan A doesn't work; he'll use plan A more aggressively. Being a long time Mayweather fan, I never worried about anyone's left hook against Floyd. Floyd is a master at taking that punch away. So as I said before, all Mosley had was an overhand right and that punch was quickly taken away.
Mosley has 0 adaptability. He did absolutely nothing against Winky and Forrest 1st fights.
Bro I kept telling people that. Floyd actually made a bad adjustment and opened himself up for an uppercut or a left hook, but Shane did not catch it. I like Mosley but I question his ability to think on the fly and make adjustments accordingly.

True, Mosley does not really divert away from his style of fighting but adaptability played little role against Floyd. The first 2 rounds was action, then nothing. Mosley turned into an old, tired punching bag. His body was showing his age and inactivity.

you are right.........Shane is a very very very good 2 trick pony....strength and speed......his strength and handspeed were good enough against almost all opponents....but when something isn't working he hasn't show too much ability to adapt...he just tries harder and gets more aggressive.......
Hesitant? More like unable, Mosley was breathing heavily going back to his corner most of the fight. You can see he was physically tired, but he never went down even when getting hit flush. Mosley just couldn't pull the trigger either, it looked like he wanted to throw punches but just could not.
Mosley has been outboxed before he would not just give up, his body would not let him.
he can still pull the trigger just fine......his problem was simple.....everytime he tried to mount any offense after rd 2 he would get countered or get a stiff jab in the face from Mayweather.....he looked confused...he had no idea what was coming next....and that's it......he started thinking too much and that was that........
If he fights Margarito again = same result.

Dammit so I wasted my time :nonono:
Don't you just hate that? You go outta your way to drop knowledge/ break things down......only to find out that the person asking a question was doing nothing but trolling and trying to bait people.
Mayweather's hard counters made Mosley hesitant to throw. Only thing Mosley had was an overhand right and Mayweather took that away from him. Mayweather neutralized Mosley's whole arsenal.

So that's why Mosley looked shot at the end of the second round?
it's easy to look good when you are faster than your opponent and you understand what they are doing........not so easy when you are perplexed and have no idea where to even start......
