Meldrick Taylor would cause anyone trouble!!!
At WW?
I don't see him giving Leonard much trouble. I can definitely see Hearns or maybe Trinidad getting him outta there fairly quickly.
Too short, stocky, hittable, brawl-happy, and lacking in power for some of the bigger and more powerful welterweights.
O, this is after the Chavez fight? I think I'd still pick Taylor to win but idk if he would whoop Andre's ass...
I saw the Norris fight but didn't see the ones before it...
Yeah. The first Chavez fight was Taylor's last @ 140 until the rematch, when I think Taylor was just desperate for a big fight and revenge and went back down to the weight that he said he killed himself to make years earlier.
Since this is a WW fight, I was thinking the Taylor of 1991 (and early 1992 pre-Norris) against Berto.
I don't know what would possess anyone to think Berto would even be competitive in this fight.
The fact that he wasn't the same fighter at 147 as he was at 140. Glenwood Brown exposed the fact that Taylor was too small and lacking in power at welterweight, and also showed how the punishment Taylor had taken was adding up.
But that Taylor still beats Berto.

taylor puts a clinic on berto meldrick is a sad story imagine how his career would of turned out if he was allowed to continue with only a couple of secs left in his fight with an undefeated chavez which he was winning stupid richard steele sucking on don kings dick
Taylor's career wouldn't have turned out that differently. He still ends up taking a lot of punishment in the Chavez fight and probably in Philly gym wars as well. He has weight problems @ 140 so he moves up to 147.
He beats Aaron Davis for the WBA title at 147, makes a couple defenses, loses to Terry Norris above WW. Cristano Espana is always a tough matchup for Taylor due to his style and dimensions. You've got other dangerous welterweights like Simon Brown or stablemate Pernell Whitaker. Felix Trinidad and Ike Quartey are about to hit the scene in short time. If he got the W against Chavez they probably have a rematch (before their actual rematch took place in 1994), which win or lose, 140 or above WW, you can bet that Taylor would take his share of physical punishment.
Taylor was always going to have a short stay at the top.

I agree, this might have changed his whole life and career, poor Taylor. And by the way poor Berto in this match-up he would eat all kind of punches all night until the ref stops this massacre. Taylor is way above Berto in every sense.
