If Puerto Rico’s Ivan Calderon is a soldier, he will surely earn a lot of medals and commendations. Yes, he can be a successful ’operator’ for any special ops team be it the Navy Seals, the Army Special Forces or the Delta Force for he has mastered the art of escape and evasion tactics that is one of the requirements to be a member of any elite military group.
On paper, Ivan Calderon’s record is quite impressive as he is undefeated in 34 fights and has reigned as a minimum weight champion early in his career and is now the WBO light flyweight champion who has successfully defended his crown numerous times that earned him another feather in his cap as the Ring Magazine’s light flyweight champion.

Talk about a random post four years later.
He lost to Fuentes, at 36 years old and clearly washed up. That L means nothing to his career. It's like slamming Erik Morales for getting KO by Garcia. It's a meaningless loss. He clearly was done.
He went out on his shield in a FOTY war with Giovanni Segura, when Calderon was clearly out of his prime and Segura was in his prime. He went to war - that was the last time we got to see a near-vintage Calderon. It took a guy much younger and quite larger to finally beat an old, past-prime, 5'0 guy. Prime Calderon would have outpointed Segura just like he did Cazares and would have made Fuentes look foolish.
For real though, clarify that ***** I put in red and one of us will get back to you.
As for the rest... please watch his fights Calderon is a master. Also I like the Gamboa sig.

People might find him boring because he has no KO power. I love watching Mayweather, and he's a tactician, but he has KO power and can make the fight much more entertaining. Qatching Calderon, you know the fight is going to 12 rounds. Watching Mayweather fight, you really don't know if it will go to 12 rounds. Don't get me wrong, I love pure boxers.
One of the Best Pure Boxers Ever, Why Doesn't He Excite Me? I usually prefer pure boxers such as Ricardo Lopez (Who is one of my favourite fighters ever), but I just don't seem to be entertained by Calderon. I have the same feelings about Mayweather. I know he's a great fighter and all, but it really doesn't entertain me much because he very rarely opens up.
When he's on ppv undercards I usually just skip it. It completely kills the mood of the night.
Garbage.
Im going to do what U do to Calderon fights , since I also think ur post are garbage and contribute nothing more than hate. >>
Like someone said , if he had ko power , hands down the best complete boxer of this era. But definetly worthy of P4p ention. He outboxes evrybody. Most chicanos are just mad that their heroes rely on being potato sacks who cannot win a fight if is not getting into a bloody war. What we saw last night is the exact definition of boxing , I enjoyed it,. being Puerto Rican I enjoyed it triple , and it takes skill to do what he has been doing for bigger guys. Ah Calderon le deben de hacer un tributo en Mexico de el mejor torero , el torero q doma a todos los toritos mexicanos.
Its like DLH schooled Chavez. Skill , Calderon keeps schoolin mexican fighters who rely on face first warrior styles. Y Punto

completely brilliant, calderon is the epitome of world class ring generalship, it's like watching a sweet pea-mayweather-pep hybrid, now if he had power behind his punches and was knocking guys out, he would be all exciting and probably the best fighter out there, maybe the era. the only thing he's lacking is stopping power............
Calderon boxes to his strengths. Why would he fight any differently? He hasn't got any power to stop opponents, but enough for his opposition to respect him. His boxing brain is unrivalled at his weight, a pure craftsmen. It may be boring to watch, but the man fights for a win, and if there is no need for a battle, he isn't going to war. Why would he, when he'd rather just school his opponents.
Put it this way, if the guy had 20 more pounds on him, he would be considered in the top 5 P4P. He is too small to be a big attraction and he has not power to "woo" the fans. His boxing ability is superb though......his defense is the best as far as movement and agility.
He's an excedllent fighter.
Being "boring" has nothing to do with being brilliant or terrible. Fighters like M.Ward and Gatti are very exciting but there were no brilliance in their performances despite the heart they showed. Would you consider Dirrell and Dawson terrible fighters, hell no, perhaps they don't have the crowd pleasing style but they're excellent fighters as Calderon.
The way he was getting into rhythm towards the end of his fight tonight and slipping and dipping at will, it was beautiful stuff.
It's not Calderon's fault his opponent tonight couldn't cut off the ring or get inside. You've got to be rough and Iribe was content on chasing him around.

I too saw his fight earlier tonight and wasn't impress at all. His opponent was bigger and he KOed Calderon once.
Calderon was quick on his feet but I might call that running and every time Jesus Iribe was going to hit him with some combinations he clinged to Iribe. If a boxer does that there's no doubt that he's going to win because he never box with his opponent, otherwise he'll probably be outboxed and KOed.
Jesus Iribe was the aggresor and tonight was the first time I saw Calderon fight. I'll watch his future fights and older fights to see if he's "really good" or just overrated.
That was an interesting article the TS posted and i do agree that Calderon is boring/
