"I sign autographs, posters, this and that. It's nice. It means the people remember, and like what they remember. Mostly what they remember is me and Clay.
We were, I think, what is good about boxing----skill and passion, and the both of us tapping deep into ourselves for that extra effort. In that ring, we brought the best out of each other." - Joe Frazier
Joe Frazier tastes his finest hour in round 15 of an all out war:
"On March 8, 1971, at Madison Square Garden Joe Frazier solidified his legacy on route to becoming a legendary all time great fighter. We rate his resume as genuine grade A quality. Some even say he is greater than Larry Holmes"

"Set down.....................quuuuuuuuuuuuuuik........ ....joe." - :rofl::rofl::rofl: priceless quote.
lol at Rahman Ali(blue jacket) confronting Joe Frazier.
Larry Holmes beat an old Ali who was suffering from early signs of Parkinsons......Holmes gets no credit for beating Ali.....that fight was a disgrace.
However, Larry Holmes went on to dominate the heavyweight division for 7 years. He accomplished more than Smokey Joe.
who did he fight in those seven years?
were they as good as the 1971 Muhammad Ali?

Frazier beat an Ali who just returned from a near 4 year exile and was suffering from ring rust.
Ken Norton defeated a better version of Ali than Frazier. Larry Holmes ranks higher than Joe Frazier in an ATG list.
yes but what version of ALi did larry holmes beat?
I easily rate frazier over holmes. Larry holmes alway complains that he is underrated, but I think he deserved his place.
Fazier beat ALi when he was closest to his prime whereas holmes beat an old man with parkinsons and heat stroke.
Seen this awhile ago, very well put together video, shows some of the most memorable parts of the rivalry between Ali and Frazier.
Thank you for posting here, don't think too many people have seen it.
It was originally made a response to the GP ali tribute. IMO it succeeded just as well as gorilla productions.
In that case I'll take Holmes. I just don't see Joe getting passed Prime Holmes legendary jab.
Great that's all I was looking for in this thread. :fing02:
That's not necessarily the reason I bump these threads. It is sometimes used as a counter to parasitic flomo/pactard/drug testing threads. I wan't to introduce something fresh here.
I have started the debate of whether he is better than larry holmes. This is the main discussion point of this thread.

Nothing against you.
It's just if you wanted this thread to be taken seriously you shouldn't have mentioned flomos and just kept it to the topic of Smokin' Joe.
And you don't have to bump the thread like 7 times. People probably watched it, just don't want to comment about it.
I for one though that was one of the best Smokin' Joe compilations I've seen.

Ali would never quit. Frazier was blind by the 15th round. ALi would have made it permanent (resto-collins) if futch didn't throw the towel in.
Frazier was a sitting duck ready to be knocked out.
Please stop making excuses/sour grapes to diminish Ali's greatness.
This is not the reason I made this thread.
A better discussion would be whether frazier is better than larry holmes.
That wasn't the intent.
It was just "My Opinion."
FYI: I'm more of a fan of Ali than Frazier.
i remember watching somewhere that Ali insisted on quitting and didn't want to go on for the 15th round.
and Frazier, who wanted to go on, was forced to take a TKO loss due to his corner not wanting him to continue.
so who knows, Frazier really could have won the fight.
and i'm not making excuses/sour grapes to diminish Ali's greatness.
just saying
This is not a counter argument but reguarding this sentence:
"i remember watching somewhere that Ali insisted on quitting and didn't want to go on for the 15th round." - What you read is another mythical lie that has been spread around by zionist propagana recently, in particular HBO. It is a zionist TV network.
Simply put: the words NEVER came out of his mouth.
Believe me. My dad has followed Ali throughout his second career and he knows what he is talking about. He has watched many of Ali's fights live aswell.
green k sent.

wow, ALI sure did talk a lot of smack. haha
half of the video was just him talking down to Frazier.
but a great video nonetheless.
and it's sad that they have a statue of Rocky outside the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and not one of Smokin' Joe Frazier.
tis truly is sad :nonono:
but a good post bro :fing02:
IMO Frazier would have finished Ali in the Thrilla in Manila fight, if his corner allowed him to continue.
Both were spent, but Ali was ready to pass out. You can tell Frazier still had adrenaline to keep going.
