I think so. The guy has a lot of great wins but is clearly past his 'second prime' and looked shot in his last outing. Why box on? What else does he have to prove? I think he's managed his money responsibly so continuing to fight is not a financial consideration. Why temp fate and risk getting brain damaged? I say walk away now and enjoy the rest of your life...

I think he should retire, he's been on the slide for a while now. If you need evidence of how far he's slipped, watch the Mayorga fight. Yes, he dominated Margarito, but that was a great stylistic match up for Mosley. Margarito's very slow footed and doesn't have a great defence, he was there for Shane's overhand rights all night.
In Mayweather he lost to the best pound for pound fighter in the world, so it's hard to be too critical. But it was the way he lost that's worth noting. He was out of the fight from about round four and I honestly thought he was gonna get stopped towards the end.
I think now would be a good time for him to bow out, he's nothing left to prove and there's no shame in losing to the best. If he carries on any longer he just may end up losing to a lesser fighter (I'm not sure he'd beat Berto at this point) and that would be a shame.
no.......he should just stay away from pacquiao and mayweather, other than those two he could prolly fukk up all the other welters not sure about cotto though....
Hell No, he can still win meaningful fights. They claim the guy has some money troubles and frankly if he wants to continue and fight he should without question. If Cotto can take two far worse beatings and win a fight with a guy like Foreman why can't Shane? Even if he fought on HBO or undercards he could still fight some interesting fights. Nothing about Shane suggested he has to retire, once again Cotto took far worse beatings by men who "Possibly" were either packing plaster or taking PED in far brutal battles while Shane caught margarito beofre he could cheat and then lost to Floyd who was for surely clean. Shane should be allowed the same if not more.
A win over an undefeated, hyped, one dimensional young fighter can set up one last big pay day for him.
But other than that, there's not much left for him, and he has enough money to walk away. It's a 50/50 situation based on what his priorities are.
Shane should retire unless he needs the money and doesn't mind being a high level gatekeeper. Take away the Margarito win and you have a typical pattern of a fading fighter.

he can still fight, enough to beat Andre Berto IMO.
beat him then retire a champ
He should fight someone like ANDRE BERTO, and that will be a good test to see if he's done.
Hell he could fight a few more fights at welterweight, I wouldnt mind seeing him and cotto again as well.
He hasnt been knocked out, so hes not shot, shot fighters get knocked out. Mayweather was just simply better than him.
WAR SHANE MOSLEY :boxing:
He should retire, Im wondering if his win over Margarito was just a fluke at this point. He got lucky for one last big fight and he should retire now. Unless he can get a shot at Berto or someone easy like that for one last fight.
how was that a fluke? Its not like he was beaten up by Mayweather, he was OUTBOXED was all, mayweather is the #1 BOXER IN THE WORLD, what do you expect and for people to say hes DONE? cmon...
Because his reflexes are not what they once were, because if he engages in one more 'war' he could suffer brain damage. Even now, when he gives interviews he seems kind of 'slow.'
I agree that he does seem slightly punchy.
I still think he would be competitive with Berto, Cotto, Clottey...

No way, there was nothing 'flukey' about that win. He dominated Margarito from the opening bell...

He should retire. There is nothing left to prove. He even fought his long time rival. (Miyata-Ippo style)
He should just retire. At this point, I honestly can't see him winning another fight against grade A opponents. Not after what Mayweather did to him.
Why cause he got beat up by Floyd? He is old, but he can still beat some other fighters in the Welterweight division. Why retire now if he can still make some money?

I think he should retire. He has had a great career, but he looked completely shot in the Mayweather fight.
agreed. He's done making any meaningful noise ...
