NSAC: Urine test only for Manny-Floyd fight

By NICK GIONGCO Drug-testing procedures for a potential super fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., if held in Las Vegas, will be limited to urine testing, as far as the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) is concerned. The NSAC upheld on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) its drug-testing procedure on boxers as topnotch doctors Robert Voy and David Watson told the commission that urine samples are sufficient in catching drug-cheats. Fight scribe Mike Marley wrote that Voy, a long-time Olympic boxing physician, and Watson, a member of the NSAC medical board, were of the belief that random blood testing is not the answer to curbing the use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). The two were involved in NSAC talks to review its current drug testing procedures for boxing, and assess whether or not a more stringent policy should be implemented. It goes beyond saying that the talks were most critical to the proposed Pacquiao- Mayweather showdown being eyed for November 13, in which drug-testing procedures are a main point of negotiations. Voy, formerly the chief medical officer of the US Olympic Committee, said blood-testing in boxing is “unreliable and impractical” and even “dangerous” and that urine testing should be done “closer to the event, the better.” Watson echoed the same sentiment. “I believe that urine is the best substance to test. I agree with Dr. Voy that urine (random testing) is what we should require and that blood is not necessary. I agree with Dr. Voy that there are theoretical and real risks to blood testing one of which is a (boxer getting) a hematoma on the elbow or a clot from missing a vein. There are also HIV and Hepatitis C risks,” said Watson. The Pacquiao-Mayweather bout had originally been penciled for March 13 but a feud in drug-testing procedure sent negotiations down the drain. Floyds his own boss compared to Pac who fights anyone Arum puts him in the ring with.. If Floyd really wanted to fight Pac we would of had it already but the Mayweathers wanted to accuse Pac of using PEDs making this whole issue on PED's get out of control and now we are having this discussion. Be real wit yourself since you are convinced now that Pac is willing to take the OST test, IF PAC passes these test you as well as all the haters will again find some reason to believe Pac is still on PED's. Its just the nature of a hater to find something to hate on... Floyd ego has exploded since he has retired and Pacman has taken his throne dominating fighters in an even better fashion then him. So what do the Mayweathers do, stir up this PED speculation about Pacman with no proof, again NO PROOF... Theyve done a good job at it thats for sure but in the end the truth will come out eventually.. True, it's NOT about cleaning up the sport. It's not about fair game at all. **** I can't believe the commission let Bey off that easy, I was reading about his case it's crazy, if the MD didn't mess up on his order of shots. He would've just passed the tests and we wouldn't have found out that he's a cheat. It's another one of these anti-aging clinics, it's nuts. I wonder who Bey's friend that referred him to the clinic. Bey didn't even say he was getting shots like Peterson. Man, that **** is worse than this whole Pacquiao/Marquez thing. I wasn't really paying attention to that isht but it's nuts. If this fight happens and without the blood tests, it would be hillarious if Paquiao opted for random blood testing in his next fight. Just to say a big "F U" to Floyd before he moves on to full time politics. Hell, even if the fight didn't happen. =)

Floyd could of fought Hatton their and take that title from him but he didnt.. Pac won a title against Cotto who Floyd never fought...

deep in their heart, manny pac fans even the fanatics know that if pac gets in the ring with floyd he will finally meet his match at the higher weights. Thats why some of them like you need to hold on to past achievements i adore both fighter,they have a league of their own.they are the best boxers nowadays..but Floyd Mayweather Jr. would not last long to call himself a pretty boy…soon he would feel Manny Pacquiao’s thunderous left hand and soon he will follows Hatton,De la Hoya,Barera and Morales fate…Retired for the second time…
