The basis for Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s suspicion of Pacquiao using illegal PED's is that:
"In the sport of boxing, you can't go from ordinary to extraordinary"
If boxing was a country, that statement would be like the Soviet Union saying to it's people "you can't do anything in the sport", while there's the USA over there where anybody can make it to the top.
Aside from telling the public that you can't make it anywhere in the sport, he just doesn't fight like a marketable fighter that can bring fans and athletes to the sport. Frankly, boxing would be better off without him. Manny Pacquiao would be boxing's Tiger Woods without Floyd injecting the question.
Does Tiger Woods not play 3 out of the 4 Major Championships? Has Floyd Mayweather Jr. fought Pacquiao, Cotto, Margarito, or Mosley when Mosley was hot? The answer is no.
Floyd does good for his self, but not for the sport of boxing. Just because he has good numbers, doesn't mean he does anything for the rest of the sport. I hope that POS retires. Peace.
the thread title is kinda BOLD!!...IMO boxing needs him....dude plays the villian, the guy we all love to hate.....in a game of "GOOD GUYS" its kinda cool for the sport to see someone CHOOSE to play the "BAD GUY".....without that loud mouthed dude, cats like Margarito and B.Hop would get all the hate :lol1:.....boxing needs the Grand Rapid native!!....sorry but its REALLY true!! :cool2:
the sport doesn't revolve around him but its cool to have him!!
i don't think so...
a win over manny at this point is a great legacy booster, but manny winning against the 3 mexican legends puts him comfortably ahead of floyd.
not to mention floyd's retirements.
if greatness is based on accomplishments, even a win against pacquiao won't make floyd overttake him in terms of greatness IMO
Manny Pacquiao is just a popular guy in the Philippines
I'm a boxing fan but yes I do. He can box, and if either Pac or Floyd was behind on rounds in a fight who do you give a better shot to, if the fighter needed a knockout? The clear answer is Pac.
If Floyd retires now that'd be the best. Imagine, say, Vijay Singh got REALLY HOT on the PGA Tour and everybody wanted to see him play against the best, Tiger Woods included. However, TIger Woods decided not to play in the U.S. Open, or the Masters....which would be the best competing against the best.....then you don't know who the best is and the sport lacks a real leader. Everybody knows that Anderson Silva is the best MMA fighter, and Tiger Woods is the best golfer....who is the best golfer? Oh we don't know, because one athlete won't prove it.
YOU PLAY GOLF... YOU DONT PLAY BOXING
however thats a pretty awful analogy dont you think? Correct me if im wrong but Tigers been losing lately but he still leads the rankings with who is it? Phil Mickleson? or something a few points behind?
As of right now, Pac will definitely be higher. But if Floyd beat him, i think Floyd will be rank higher. Pac's name would complete Floyd's resume, but Floyd's would put Manny in the top 30 or even 20 IMO.

So when Manny switched his style from a knockout artist against Hatton and Cotto to a machinegun against Clottey, he lacked verstility?
He didnt switch his style, he just kicked it into high gear just threw as many punches as he could. He knew he wasnt knocking clottey out and he could barely land a clean shot on clottey so he just threw a whole lot of punches.
So you're saying Cotto and Marquez box better than Manny? Are you kidding me? Manny pretty much proved he boxes better than JMM simply by outboxing/destroying Cotto and Hatton.
He didnt outbox JMM he out punched him. He made cotto fight his style and drowned him. And hatton has never been and will never be a boxer. He is a wrestler, if he cant tie you up and punch you he doesnt have a chance.
So EX, if you put Floyd or Manny in SRL's shoes in the Tommy Hearns 1 fight, who do you give a better shot at making a comeback?
If I needed a knockout and there was no other way that I could win I would probably choose pacquiao, other than that I would choose floyd.
Well, i respect your opinions. But i've yet to seen him technically defeat anyone. He's limited as far as pure boxing. He's just a greater all-around offensive Boxer than Floyd, but Floyd is all-around the greater Boxer. Does that mean Pac won't beat him? Hell no, he's Floyd's kryptonite. What i am trying to say is that Floyd can beat most fighters at their own pace, style, ect? Whereas, Manny can only win fighting his own style, pace, ect.

I think Pac lacks versatility compared to these fighters. Andre Ward, Chad Dawson, Juan Marquez, Cotto, Vitali Klitschko, Hopkins, Juan Manuel Lopez, ect, are all have showing that they can not only mix it up very efficiently, but box as well..

"Its called boxing, not knockouts..."
Another BHop/Floyd fan... you probably enjoyed Bhop-RJJ 2 didn't you?

+1
The Sweet Science...This isn't a street brawl, its an art...
And for the record...I can't wait to see the fight (if it happens)...Its intriguing, a volume puncher with great movement and angle against a defensive minded counter puncher with great movement and angles...Styles make fights, and I'm interested to see Roach's game plan...But also interested in seeing which style Floyd decides to fight...
Being realistic, I see Paq coming out doing his normal for the first 2 or 3 rounds with May moving to figure him out (or as some may call it "running")...I feel Floyd will figure out his movements and be patient, and in late round 2, or early 3 he will begin countering and picking Manny apart...
I think May will use more of the defense he used in the Mosley match instead of the Philly Shell\shoulder roll to counteract the southpaw...He will cover up when the flurries come but will be able to counter much quicker and much more willing than Clottey...
A draw, as impossible as it may seem to most, would be the perfect situation for me personally...Then we could see who could really adjust for a MEGAMEGA fight...That would be the best situation for boxing to bring in more fans before these to warriors ride into the sunset...

one, floyd aint the most exciting ighter in the sport, far from it....second , he always turns down fight, fans wanna see the most...so yeah, he is bad for boxing!...boxers are suppose to be warrirors not bitchass divas!
....I thought that the point of the The Sweet Science was to "hit and not be hit"...As humans we love seeing the warriors go bang, bring blood, and knock people the f*ck out...I will admit that...BUT, the name of the game isn't "go in and tear peoples heads off" as much as we would all love it...The name of the game is Boxing, and it is an art...An art in which the object is to hit someone else (and admittedly-for the fans pleasure, make them bleed and then sleep) and not be hit...I enjoy watching both May and Paq fight, I find both exciting in different ways...Of course there is pleasure in seeing Paq and his never ending punches, but there is just as much pleasure in seeing Floyd paint his canvas...Thats just my opinion, because stepping into the ring with someone else wanting to hurt you makes you a warrior...Some do not handle it as well as others, but neither Floyd or Manny sit down on the stool and say No Mas-I believe that makes them warriors, even though there may be controversy-they dont bitch out and quit...They go until the end...Just my thoughts :boxing:

Its funny you know of the Illuminati but can't see Pac is they're Guy. Why do you think Floyd gets bad press and Pac is in Congress ?
Manny Pacquiao is just a popular guy in the Philippines
Pac fans, do you guys think Manny Pacquiao is a more complete Boxer than Floyd?
I'm a boxing fan but yes I do. He can box, and if either Pac or Floyd was behind on rounds in a fight who do you give a better shot to, if the fighter needed a knockout? The clear answer is Pac.
If Floyd retires now that would be the worst for boxing. He needs to hang around and dethrone and retire Manny or vice versa until a new star emerges in the boxing world. I think the jr welters have the potential to supplant Manny + Floyd as the superstars of boxing but until that happens i think everyone agrees that these two need to hang around.
