Dam now this is a big number cotto is truely a popular guy like i said the 3rd best ppv guy behind manny and floyd.FLOYD AND MANNY already have their next bout ready who ever wins has another ppv big fight against cotto in 2011 good for cotto.by the way manny's bigest ppv fight was cotto.cotto-plasterGuy II will do above million buys
I'm not hating or anything.
But that must be the stupidest logic I have ever seen somebody use.
Fact is Cotto-Foreman you didn't have to pay for, Pac-Clottey YOU DID have to pay for. Don't bring in that 5-15+ party bullshit cause that's just stupid. I was just stating the fact that you cannot compare a FREE boxing event to a PPV boxing event.
I wouldn't pay $15/month for HBO if they didn't have boxing. It's not free. No fights are "free" anymore except olympic boxing on NBC and some scattered events on spanish channels from Mexico (which aren't free for me but are for some).
Paying $180/year just for HBO boxing ain't free...
I wasn't comparing free on HBO and ppv. I'm just saying this is a good number for HBO. It was the highest watch show on HBO in 2010. Don't you think thats good for boxing????
Having the best ratings for the year is always good, I would just like to know what the live rating was to compare it to past shows. This year HBO has had some horrible ratings not just for Boxing but the show "The Pacific" cost HBO 20 million per episode and the series finally didn't even break 2 million live viewers.

Well I never said it wasn't good for boxing. I actually think it's great for boxing.

Who gives a shit how they got the total, 1.9 million UNIQUE homes watched the fight, whether it was replay or live that many people still watched.
Who gives a shit? People who count ratings give a shit idiot, u don't just count all the replays and add it to the rating. You count the live rating then you can say the replay also did good numbers and show them.
Margarito vs Mosley did 1.9 million viewers live, probably did another 600k for the replay, I guess they should have sent out a press release for 2.5 million and said it did better then DLH vs Forbes.
I even admitted it was stupid logic, but its the logic you used. And HBO isn't free, I never look at my bill but its like 20 a month. You might have the best cable/satellite combo deal thus you think its free, but a basic cable package doesn't include HBO. But I get what you are saying, and I agree but what would be the point of putting any fights on PPV when the "free" fights aren't getting shit for ratings? If the HBO fights don't do well then you sure as hell know the PPV buys aren't going to do any better.
Wait... How did I use that logic again?
Why are you making shit up?
Plenty of other fights have done better then this one since DLH vs Forbes, the 1.9 million isn't for the live telecast alone.

You're wrong too. Ratings don't work by counting people, they count how many HOMES watched the fight. 1.9 million HOMES watched the Cotto fight, just like 700k watched Pac/Clottey. So whether its PPV or not Cotto had more "homes" watching than every PPV bought but May/DLH. Obviously this is a stupid example, but I'm using your logic and everyone else who says "so and so" did more. Of course more people watched Pac/Clottey because people were throwing parties and had 5-15+ people watching it at their house. Unfortunetly, there is no Nielson spokesmen who comes and counts people at everyones house thus they use how many HOMES bought.
Also, if the ratings sucked they wouldn't have even brought it up. Instead they had some HUGE numbers for a boxing fight. Highest since the cash cow DLH fought Forbes in '08 and if you take that out I'm sure it was the highest rating on HBO in a decade for a boxing match. Point is people would be bitching about it being in PPV if it was, so its on HBO with a great rating and instead people bitch because it wasn't on PPV or because Cotto was in it, no point it giving it any credit. I mean jesus, just be happy boxing is making a comeback whether you like the guy or not, its simply GOOD for the sport.

By some of these comments you can tell who are fans of just floyd and who are fans of boxing
This is good news the better these non PPV fights do the more we will get
Judging by your sig you must not be a Cotto fan.
Bro I have a Cotto avi. You can see I'm a fan.
You just cannot compare a FREE boxing event to a PPV boxing event. And I never said that it wasn't good for boxing. Jesus.

Well you were comparing Manny's PPV to Cotto's NON PPV.

Actually it was 3.9 million viewers not 1.9, 1.9 was the ones who watched the re-aired broadcast on Sunday. I don't give two shits if it wasn't pay per view. No one watched anything on HBO more in the whole damn year. In two days it totaled 5.8 million viewers lol but it ain't PPV??

try telling this to Pac fans who want to insist SSM is a bigger PPV draw than Miguel Cotto........:nonono:
