I wouldn't pay $15/month for HBO if they didn't have boxing. It's not free. No fights are "free" anymore except olympic boxing on NBC and some scattered events on spanish channels from Mexico (which aren't free for me but are for some). Paying $180/year just for HBO boxing ain't free...

I wasn't comparing free on HBO and ppv. I'm just saying this is a good number for HBO. It was the highest watch show on HBO in 2010. Don't you think thats good for boxing???? Having the best ratings for the year is always good, I would just like to know what the live rating was to compare it to past shows. This year HBO has had some horrible ratings not just for Boxing but the show "The Pacific" cost HBO 20 million per episode and the series finally didn't even break 2 million live viewers.

Who gives a shit how they got the total, 1.9 million UNIQUE homes watched the fight, whether it was replay or live that many people still watched. Who gives a shit? People who count ratings give a shit idiot, u don't just count all the replays and add it to the rating. You count the live rating then you can say the replay also did good numbers and show them. Margarito vs Mosley did 1.9 million viewers live, probably did another 600k for the replay, I guess they should have sent out a press release for 2.5 million and said it did better then DLH vs Forbes.

You might have the best cable/satellite combo deal thus you think its free, but a basic cable package doesn't include HBO. You're wrong too. Ratings don't work by counting people, they count how many HOMES watched the fight. 1.9 million HOMES watched the Cotto fight, just like 700k watched Pac/Clottey. So whether its PPV or not Cotto had more "homes" watching than every PPV bought but May/DLH. Obviously this is a stupid example, but I'm using your logic and everyone else who says "so and so" did more. Of course more people watched Pac/Clottey because people were throwing parties and had 5-15+ people watching it at their house. Unfortunetly, there is no Nielson spokesmen who comes and counts people at everyones house thus they use how many HOMES bought. Also, if the ratings sucked they wouldn't have even brought it up. Instead they had some HUGE numbers for a boxing fight. Highest since the cash cow DLH fought Forbes in '08 and if you take that out I'm sure it was the highest rating on HBO in a decade for a boxing match. Actually it was 3.9 million viewers not 1.9, 1.9 was the ones who watched the re-aired broadcast on Sunday. I don't give two shits if it wasn't pay per view. No one watched anything on HBO more in the whole damn year. In two days it totaled 5.8 million viewers lol but it ain't PPV??
