James Kirkland is set to be free Oct 2, 2010. THe current prospects at 154 will scatter like roaches when he hits the scene. Miguel Cotto who currently holds a strap at 154 will cut weight back to 147 (if he isnt already) when Kirkland is let loose. Paul Williams will also come back down to 147 including Martinez.
Paul, Cotto , & Martinez will avoid James at all cost. None of them will move up to middle weight to face fighters like Andre Dirrell, Kessler, Froch, Abraham etc. So they have no choice but to come back down in weight.

i like kirkland alot but he has no defense he just strikes soon or later it will catch up with him just like it did with cotto. hopefully he can get some elite names under his belt before that happens. Cotto has earned his stripes kirkland has not but i'm sure he will.
I disagree. Kirkland had way more "effective" head movement than Miguel.
When Kirkland gets out and IF he gets back on the same track that he was on before prison(this is a BIG if). And if we as Boxing fans are blessed to have Cotto and Kirkland meet up.............You will all gasp in the brutal manner in which he stops Miguel. I'm not hating or none of that crazy shit, but James used to move with a purpose in the ring, and hit to detach you from your senses with every punch. It would almost be un-fair to put Miguel in there with THAT James Kirkland.

kirkland via tko. kirkland would come out swinging relentlessly looking for that quick ko thinking he needs to finish it quick because of stamina issues making him very dangerous............. i dont thinking cotto can take a kirkland beating

Kirkland been out of Prison hes living at a group home where they do allow him to go train for boxing and plans to fight in August. So oct 2 must be the date he gets to move from the home.

Sorry to break your heart, but name one person Cotto has ever ducked. Some of this silly shit you people come up with just boggles the mind. I'm sure when Kirkland gets out, he's going to be ready for a title fight the next day.
Are you like his prison pen pal or something?

Cotto will rape him so hard, Kirkland would rather be back in jail.:boxing:
Joel "Love Child" Julio.. need to say no more lol
Love Chile>90%of fighters
julios the real deal. he didn't really bring his power up in weight as good as I thought he would've but I'll never forget how the Kamya KO looked. I thought Kamya was going to have to goto the hospital. Kirkland can headline ppv if he gets his shit together.

When has Cotto ducked anyone? Don't get ahead of yourself here, Kirkland was a prospect, but when he comes out of jail, we need to see what he brings to the table.
ok then that helps a little....still dont get the thread title...Cotto never has and possibly never will "flee" from anyone...but like the other dude said...once kirkland get his name back out into mainstream...Cotto could be on his way out.:drive:
This is very true. If I were Bob Arum, I would keep Cotto far away from Kirkland if he rebounds and gets back into pre-incarceration form.
I really like James Kirkland. I mean I am a huge fan of his. But, he still needs way more time to work to be on Cotto Martinez and P-Will. Especially after a year in jail. He was even around 200lbs. He needs way more time.
He should fight David Estrada, that would be a very good fight for him. Then maybe Sebastian Lujan. You have to work with him right now. He just is not ready for Cotto, Martinez, P-Will, Dzinziruk. But, he can get to that level in a year or two 4 or 5 fights.
100%... kirkland will need to get some work under his belt after a stretch in the pen... hopefully he can keep growing as a fighter...
If Cotto thought that Margs was pressuring him.. Kirkland starts right off the bell and his left hook is special to watch in action..
I just hope he takes his time and comes back right..
Hands down I always thought Kirkland was more then just a promising prospect but let's not fool ourselves he was still considered prospect status before he went away.
That said, as someone already mentioned earlier Cotto would already be on the way out by the time James makes himself relevant much less elite.
If the reports that are stating he's walking around at almost 200 pounds are true combined with the obvious inactivity he has a LONG way to go.
LMAO @ Thread Title....who has James Kirkland fought? Please enlighten me
Calm down killer, he was up and coming at the time of his incarceration, but he broke Joel Julio off in proper fashion in his last fight slick.
