Both of these Jewish fighters were hyped beyond belief, They were hyped up as true greats in the sport of boxing, World beaters, Legends and Hall of famers in the making.
Salita "The Star of David": Hyped as a golden gloves champion, A hard hitter with a great chin whilst having the ring intelligence and stamina to go the distance and cruise to a UD. Promoted by the best in the sport Bob Arum- Top Rank, Lou DiBella, Both of which ultimately after hyping him and forcing him down everyones throat dropped him from thier companies. Not only that HBO joined in on the hype and made a documentary on Salita. The blend of Orthodox Judaism and Boxing was promoted as ying and yang.
We all know what happend when he fought a world class fighter in Khan.
Foreman "The Zion Lion" : Hyped as Israels first world champion, Which is a fact, Also probably will be Israels only and last and shortest reigning world champion with just one failed defence. Touted as a Rabbi-Boxer that was the next Sugar Ray Leonard, They even had the audacity to make the comparrison. Miguel cotto was touted as a Marvin Hagler like figure that Foreman would outbox like Sugar Ray Leonard using his great footwork, Flashy combinations and cruise to a UD.
We all saw Foremans great footwork and how the Zion Lions corner threw in the towel.
I know we are all happy Salita and Foreman got beat because we were sick of hearing about them and the self-centered manner in which they brought thier religion into the sport , But now that they have both been de-hyped, Can we decide who was more hyped between these two great Jewish Boxers?
"Allah Akbar" is alot better than "Sieg Heil"
Learn to love your fellow man, Not hate him.
So many Americans did not die on the beaches of Normany and in Europe for you to become a racist all over again.
:usa:
I don't hate anybody, I wish I could say the same about you.
Come on, don't act all innocent. You very well now you have a prejudice against these boxers because of their religion.
And I just found your statements very ironic coming from a Khan fan, that is all.
Let's not let this become a religious discussion, which you must of expected this to turn into. I am afraid it might have been your intent since you concentrated so much on Foreman and Salitas being Jewish.
And this coming from an Amir Khan fan. His supporters must be the biggest religious extremists I have ever seen. We get "allah akhbar" shoved down our throats every time there's a Khan fight coming up.
God willing Ward tastes the canvas tonight.
You two get the f*** out of here.
This thread needs to be closed, its obviously motivated on hate against Jews.

Me aswell, I couldnt stand the way they forced Foremans religion down our throats and tried to exploit a Cotto a great champion.

You sound like a stupid a-hole
I'm making a tribute to the fight, with highlights of the beatdown and a few added touches.
I'm aware that Cotto is a (non-practicing) Catholic, but I'm claiming his win as a win on behalf of a righteous cause, if you follow me.
I'll PM you the link when I'm done, as you may appreciate it. :)
Please do.
Keep up the good work and lets hope Ward will Ko Green tonight!
I was, and still am, uber-happy that Foreman lost. :)

No one who knows boxing thought Salita was anything, only that eli sechback did.
I don't know how you can knock Foreman, he beat Santos and then took on a guy who has had 10x the experience at world leve that Foreman has and made a good, entertaining fight which was unfortunately ended by a knee injury which may or may not have let Cotto's left hook to the body catch him that cleanly.
Salita.
Forman was a world champ, and I wouldnt say overhyped because boxing fans never thought much of him.
Salita on the other hand was well known because he was a jew and that one boxing weirdo that films himself and talks like hes a reporter was all about him. Thats it.
Foreman may have got more exposure due to fighting Cotto and being an aspiring rabbi, but Salita was way overhyped. At least Foreman has potential and we know he has more heart than most fighters out there. And he's already won a world title. Foreman will probably be back on HBO or on another channel soon. You probably won't see Salita anymore unless he piles up some good victories. Getting knocked out in the first round by someone like Khan won't exactly end his career. I mean look at Khan himself getting knocked out in the first and he's better now than before.
Foreman was touted as a Sugar Ray Leonard, Miguel Cotto was the Marvin Hagler, I mean really comparing Foreman with Ray Leonard makes me sick to the stomach and detest Bob Arum and his Top Rank company for trying to take away the sheen from Ray Leonard name.
How dare they compare Ray Leonard to Boreman! Im shocked at thier audacity!

Bullshit. The manner they brought their religion into the sport? The guys just boxed, it was the media who brought their religion into it.
As for being happy Foreman lost, not at all, from what I've seen, he comes across as a genuinly decent guy and I wish him all the best. I didn't pay much attention to Salita though, so I can't say much on him.
Foreman, for sure. Nobody genuinely gave Salita a chance against Khan.
Elie Seckbach makes me want to puke - his dodgy interviewing style, goofy wide-eyed expression and accent are horrible to watch.
To hell with both of them, but at least Yuri was a titlist. He still might have been more hyped though, because I bought into him frustrating Cotto to a UD. I never have believed in Salita, though I was shocked he was knocked out in the first round.
