I was watching this 1/2 hour show before the Friday Night Fights and it was titled, "Top Ten Knockouts".
It had Bert Sugar's list of the top ten all time KO's and I have to say, I'm officially sick and tired of Bert Sugar and his stupid hat and cigar.
Brian Kenny was owning his ass because of his list and basically Bert does what all old timers do, create legend and lore out of the old fights to the point that no new fight could ever live up to them no matter how great they were.
I consider myself "old school" but there has to be a point where you realize the greatness of a fight no matter what time period it is in.
He had Dempsy vs Firpo as the #2 KO all time and I thought that was silly. I mean the fight wasn't even competitive and Firpo got knocked down like 8 times before he was KO'd.
He didn't even have Castillo vs Corrales in the top 10, bullshit.
I love and respect the old time fighters but guys like Sugar, who I respect hi s boxing knowledge, just glorify the old timers to the point where it's impossible to ever compare to them no matter what.
For the record I agreed with #1, Marciano's KO of Walcott, greatest right hand ever thrown.
not entirely related but it's about Bert nonetheless. years back i watched him saying that Tyson was so upset that he punched the wall, Mike's fist went through the wall in front of Holyfield face who was sitting on the other dressing room... Bert makes it so exciting but of course we need to put some grain of salt along with. gotta love the guy. Tell you what, i'll make this up. that same cigar and hat he has all the time, not only his trademark, i heard Fidel Castro gave it to him and wants to be burried with him.
The KO itself, or should I say TKO rather, was not top 10 material.
I don't know about Bert's list, his lists are usually bad, but best fights shouldn't be confused with best KO's.
#1 - It was a KO, I mean the fight was stopped but Castillo was knocked out cold.
#2 - It was best KO not best fights but he was bringing in the point that you have to take the importance of the fight into consideration. I agree somewhat....
I don't know about Bert's list, his lists are usually bad, but best fights shouldn't be confused with best KO's.
Tyson vs Frazier wasn't on that list, that was one of the pritiest KOs I have seen in my tim.
It was infact better than some of the TKOs bert had on hsi list.

You just figured this out? He gets respect because he is as old george Washington. I take whatever he says with a pinch of salt. It took him until the 90s to have Ali in the top 10.
Yes, on my list it is. It was for the lightweight championship of the world, it came after 9 grueling rounds and it involved a fighter getting knocked down twice, getting up and winning by KO.
I mean what more do you want?
The KO itself, or should I say TKO rather, was not top 10 material.
Bert Ranking
1. Louis/Conn I, 1941
2. Tunney/Dempsey II, 1927
3. Ali/Frazier I, 1971
4. Graziano/Zale I, 1946
5. Moore/Durelle I, 1958
6. Ali/Frazier III, 1975
7. Marciano/Walcott I, 1952
8. Graziano/Zale II, 1947
9. Hagler/Hearns, 1985
10. Dempsey/Firpo, 1923
it was a good fight but IMO not a top ten fight
Dempsy vs Firpo is the most overrated fight in the history of boxing IMO. I mean, first off Firpo looked like a bar brawler in the fight, no technique, winging punches. I mean it wasn't a boxing display to say the least.
Also, it wasn't even competitive, he was beaten mercessly for 2 rounds, what's the attraction in that?
Mike Tyson doesn't make the top ten? Or Douglas' KO of Tyson at least? Talk about significance of the fight and the upset it was, possibly the greatest upset of all time.
Like I said I respect Bert Sugar's knowledge but he has gotten to the point where he just brings up old fights because they are old.
Castillo vs Corrales was a top 10 KO?
Yes, on my list it is. It was for the lightweight championship of the world, it came after 9 grueling rounds and it involved a fighter getting knocked down twice, getting up and winning by KO.

The list has solid great fights but I guess the order is for everyone to make.
From there without a doubt I'd say Moore-Durelle I is my favorite.
Agree 100%
I don't pay attention to him as he is too biased with respect to the "glory" days.
Plenty of talent has given us excellent, and even better, more competitive fights than in the past since the 80's and it's all overlooked by him.
Yeah he's one of those retards who thinks people will be more impressed if you talk about the past, just because. He's stupid, biased, and changes his opinion on the fly.
And it was a great fight imo.
Don't know about it's ranking but you won't get you're entertainment value in less than 2 rounds like that.
