Just want Floyd to win the negotiation game rather then getting the fight done.
Now that Pac accepted the 14 day cutoff, now ya'll are talking about how the deal is off the table. That Floyd should get the bigger split. Who the **** cares!?!?! It seems like deep down that Floyd fans are scared that their boy is gonna lose. Face it, dude is deathly afraid of losing to anyone. If there's even the slightest chance of losing a fight, he ain't taking it. Its pretty obvious. I don't think Pac gives a **** about losing, at least not as much as Floyd.
- His legacy is cemented,
- He's loss before to scrubs, so a loss to Floyd would actually be an upgrade.
- He's got one more fight in him and he's gonna collect the fattest check of his career.
- He knows that Floyd can't hurt him.
- He's going on to bigger and better things after boxing
A loss for Floyd would be devasting because being undefeated is his only claim to greatness, without that, he's got nothing.
Name another fighter constantly going up in weight talking about how his POWER will get the job done for him, Ive never heard a fighter say that other than Pac, they will say speed, movement, whatever, never power, its totally backwards as far as boxing goes. You didnt have this same drive and determination when 14 days was on the table at one time and Pac was still asking for a month, now youre a whole new man, congrats.
:lol1:
who says Pacquiao carries his power up to his current weight?
he still has the same punching power he had before going up
the only thing he carries up is his speed, his opponents cannot see where his punches are coming from
From a business point of view Pacquiao cannot make the sort of money Mayweather makes fighting the same opponents, Mayweather would make more money fighting Clottey than what Pacquiao made against Clottey, Mayweather can fight anyone and make more money than Pacquiao can and it has been proven that Mayweather is a bigger draw than Pacquiao and Mayweather is a draw on his own.
There is a reason why Mosley made $6M guarantee the highest he has ever made, Has Pacquiao even made $20M guarantee yet without any PPV add-ons? Mayweather can fight Martinez and make a lot more money also.
A fighter's purse is nothing more than a guarantee. That is why you call it a guaranteed purse, which means even if the fight didnt make money you are still goin to make what is stated in your guaranteed purse.
Whatever is add on to that purse will depend on the ppv buys after Time Warner, HBO, and the promoters take their cut of the PPV buys. Plus it also depend on how much you were already guaranteed. For example, if the fighter's purse is 22 Million, and the share (from the PPV buys) for the fighter is 25 Million, then the fighter is only entitled to get 3 Million because he already received 22M from his guaranteed purse.
So the bigger the purse, the less upside on PPV shares the fighter goin' to receive.
So Pac made almost the same amount in the Cotto than what Floyd made with Mosley fight even though Floyd's purse is bigger than Pac because despite having a lower purse, the disparity of the PPV buys between Pac/Cotto and Mosley/Mayweather were not that much.
And do you know that its actually more advantageous to get a lower guaranteed purse? Because all the shares that you give to the IRS, managers, trainers, co-trainers, will be cut based on the guaranteed purse and not the PPV shares.
And how would you know whether Floyd can get higher PPV buys, since we havent seen post-Oscar Floyd fighting an unknown fighter like Clottey without the benefit of a 24/7 marketing his fight
Feel free to quote me Ray *smile* it's always the same - it's so tiresome, every fight is the same, I almost doesn't post here anymore - sometimes I read some things on here but the forums :omfg:
It like talking to a 17 year old with some of this posters, Even a teenager would study and learn about boxing instead of just agreeing with idiotic post and giving each other high-fives and green K.

man.....this guys right like anything :fing02: green k sent
I hope i can re-post your post after the fight gets signed, 100% agree with your 3 stage theory here, I could just insert Mosley's name in all those stages and thats exactly what happened with Mosley-Mayweather, Mayweather-Hatton but as soon as the fight gets signed then Mayweather picked the easy option.

Pac also said that if Floyd didnt want to fight then its just fine. He will just look for a replacement (Cotto or Margarito) to fight on November. No one can force Floyd if he doesn't want to fight or doesnt want to compromise.
Here's the deal.. Floyd has the upper hand in the negotiations right now, which Team Pac lost when they fought Clottey. On a business standpoint it was not a good move. But being a boxing fan, it was the best fight they could make after the negotiations collapsed.
Anyway, Pac will have to fight someone because I dont think he can accept anything less than 50%. His got an ego as well. And if the PPV buys closely reach the 1.4 Million (say 1.2 or 1.3) that Floyd/Mosley made, then the pressure is back on Floyd to get another 1 Million plus buys. But you have to consider that the fighters Floyd need to fight to get that type of revenue is with Top Rank. The fighters that would make a good B side for Floyd is not with Golden Boy. There is not much money that can be made in fighting guys like Berto or Martinez.. Then we will see how much big of a draw Floyd really is...

You like a lot of posters here simply have a problem with your own level of expection, that's all - all you guys do is cry - there are 3 levels of crying for your guys:
1. you cry at the start of negotiations: Somebody says I want to fight Floyd and will take his demands. So what's up with Floyd? Is he scared, he knows that he will loose etc. it's the first crying stage.
2. Floyd signed: oh well, all of sudden Floyd should have fought somebody else, because he will beat him anyways otherwise he wouldn't have signed, he would never sign a fight where he knows he would loose. Then you start to discredit his opponent as too old, past prime, to green, not his weight etc.
3. the last stage is after Floyd beat his opponent, you know it all along and he is a pussy for not fighting this guy, which is the guy who is willing to fight him, which starts the circle back at one.

I believe Arum and Team Pacquiao are trying to pressure Mayweather through the media so they can do the same deal that they refuse in january but the problem is this: Mayweather doesnt give a F**k about anyone or the media and things have change in Mayweather's favour in the last 5 months.
So now we are going to hear more of Mayweather doesnt want to fight us interviews/thread with our favourite Boxingscene journalist (RN).

floyd just fought mosley, drop the whole "floyd wont take a risk" thing.
floyds legacy is cemented aswell.
maybe floyd cant hurt him, but theres a chance floyd takes him to school. if that was to happen so much for pac being fighter of the decade. he would lose the image that hes the best of his era which most ppl think he is right now, he has just as much to lose as floyd.
the last part is just silly. floyd won titles in 5 weightclasses, he was p4p #1 for years and outclassed the likes of genaro hernandez, diego corrales and shane mosley. its clear from the start u dont like him but to say without his 0 hes got nothin is just absurd.

Yeah, right - 5 division champion, beat about 15 world champions, recognized as the best or second best fighter of his generation, the best or second best fighter at 130 of all time but yes, sure your right...

Only because Pacquiao has NOW decided he wants to fight, Floyd has now to come out of holiday, spending time with his family, because Pacquiao has now decided??? It's nice and I want the fight too, but the next fight of Pacquiao should be in November - 5 Months - so where is the problem??? Floyd ain't got to make his decision yet - he has time - so where is the problem - I know you guys are in crying stage 1 but where is the problem...
Mayweather waited for this oppurtinity his whole life - this is the fight which makes him the best of his time - finally an opponent who is respected at the weight, in his prime, even more accolades then him, seems unbeatable - this is his life - this is the moment he knows it - everybody knows it - this is not Pacquiao's fight, this is Mayweather's fight
so many boxing fans these days, and dare I say it particularly US fans, are obsessed with how much money fighters make. Why I'm not quite sure, but the number of debates about who is the biggest draw etc I've seen on here is beyond belief. Ricky Hatton was a true household name over here (even your nan would know all about him), but I didn't give a sh*t - he still isn't a HoFer.

Great post and I have picked up on this.
:lol1:
Where was this "spirit" when Floyd offered the 14 days before? And Floyd hasn't shot it down? Do your research, he shot it down in...get this...February. Manny and Arum aren't stupid, they KNOW that deal is off the table, believe that.

I know that, but c'mon son, what the **** this boy gotta do to get a fight around here? Seriously, the dude is looking for one last megafight before he retires. Either Floyd want it or he don't. If he do, he'll at least listen to what this boy Pac gotta say.
:lol1:
As you said, we don't know how these negotiations are going. Also, we don't know if there is any even going on.

So if Floyd was cool with 14 days, you wouldn't? Its like ya'll are hoping this fight don't get made. Just so Floyd looks like he has the upper hand and Pac looks stupid? Sad.
Most Mayweather fans are cool with anything to make the fight happen, Pacquiao fans were more into "Dont bow to Mayweather" even though both fighters would be subjected to the test, Most Mayweather and neutral fans couldnt see what the big deal was until Team Pacquiao made it a big deal.
But again you cannot ignore the fact that Team Pacquiao waste everyone's time back in december when they back out of an agreed deal of OST.
That's another thing, before Sr's accusations, Pac was a fraud, fighting old, weight drained, past prime fighters. Afterwards, he's extraordinary. I guess its just easier to make one all inclusive excuse instead of trying to discredit each individual win.
Pac is an ATG fighter and when you shock people and when you get to the top people would throw accusations at you, it comes with been the best in whatever you do.

Nothing but the truth!!!
All I'm wondering is why ya'll are shooting down Pac's attempt to make this fight happen when Floyd himself hasn't even shot it down.
:lol1:

But a loss for Pac is not nearly as devastating as a loss for Floyd. Legacy-wise, he's already chasing Pac. His main argument at greatness is the fact that he's never lost, without that, he's just anther great fighter with alot of money and questionable resume. His whole identity is wrapped around being undefeated
You're right, Pac is not the favorite. That's why I think he wants this fight, he's not scared of losing, at least not as much as Floyd. Pac is supposed to lose according to the experts. Pac really has nothing to lose (except the fight). He's already loss to no name scrubs so Losing to Floyd Mayweather is nothing to be ashamed of. Plus, this will be the fattest payday of his career.
True, alot of Pac fans were making excuses for Pac not accepting the OST, but honestly, excuses were being thrown around from both sides.
And the more reason why we need to wait and see what happens in negotiation, Fact is Team Pacquiao talk soooo much BS to the media even when told not to, Fact is Team Pacquiao have different people saying different thing to different part of the media which is not helping anyone.
I havent seen anyone from Team Mayweather say anything, They have never negotiate through the media until the fight was going to fall apart last year, its all about patience but fact is the fight didnt happen last time because Team Pacquiao werent ready yet, Now that they are ready we shall see how negotiation goes this time around.
You dont get extraordinary over the years in boxing, this sport is like a car, if anything youre supposed to depreciate over time. If Pac wasnt scared of losing he would do no cutoff date, I could go further and say if he wasnt scared of losing he wouldnt be juicing in the first place, but I wont speculate. Either way, we know how much the Morales loss hurt him, he expressed it over and over and seemingly in his mind he's vowed to never lose again, by any means necessary.
