Honestly, Manny Pacquiao IS the best fighter in fighting right now. There's no denying that. He just can't be beat. There's a reason why he's universally regarded as BOTH the P4P King AND fighter of the year.
Miguel Cotto is the next best fighter. Of course he got beat by Pacquiao, even stopped, but just about anybody these days who actually tries to fight Pacquiao will get put away. It's that simple. I mean, Manny Pacquiao made Ricky Hatton look like one of those tomato cans on FNF. Manny Pacquiao does his owrk with power and speed, something maybe only Roy has matched in his prime (but Roy fought cops and taxi cab drivers). Miguel Cotto however, would beat Floyd Mayweather. Cotto has an excellent jab that he times very well and he's extremely strong and powerful in everything he does. Mayweather if he fought Cotto would pull back all night and get hit to the body. It would look like the Castillo 1 fight just Cotto is more skillful. Of course, Manny Pacquiao beats Mayweather for similar reasons.
It was funny to me that last night HBO was saying how Cotto's had arguably the toughest resume/fights out of anybody in the sport. And it's true. So has Pacquiao. Ring experience and what a fighter has done says a LOT about potential outcomes, and it just doesn't lie when you put Mayweather in front of Pacquiao or Cotto.

Pac and Floyd on that list for sure, but Cotto? Naw man, Martinez or P Will would kill Cotto at 154.

If Cotto tried to stand toe to toe with Floyd, Cotto would retire after that fight. Cotto nor Pac are on Floyd's level. You need boxing 101 after those statements lol...
You know what the problem is, Floyd may have all these great tools to beat every boxer, ever, according to his fans, BUT HE NEVER FIGHTS ANYONE TO PROVE IT! He last fought a challenge ages ago at 130 lbs, because Zab whilst having natural talent, is too inconsistent.
You can't be a considered great if you don't challenge yourself.
The Mosley he just fought would have been KO'd by Pac in the first five rounds, that same Mosley would not have survived against Cotto either, I'd say late TKO. He was low on stamina, low on power, and just full of ring rust.
Get real, you can't continue to put Floyd on a pedestal for accomplishments long past, what the hell has he done in the last two years? jack shit. beat up on a tiny lightweight, comes in overweight, and beat a man who was far removed from his best days.
he never fights top rank boxers and just think about it for a second can you really blame Arum?

Exactly. He would've got owned by a prime Mosley, the second round showed that.
Cotto is loved because he fought everyone meaningful that challenged him.
Floyd ran from Margarito (who was going to do to him what he did to Cotto), Floyd's running from Pacquaio, Floyd wouldn't even consider getting in the ring with a Pwill or Sergio Martinez, you know why? Because while he has a greater tool set, those people have positive assets that would cause serious problems in different ways, and the giant bleeding p@ssy that he is, he just couldn't be bothered.
Cotto's fought everybody, Mayweather hasn't. The Cotto in 2007 would've no doubt destroyed Mayweather. You have to keep in mind too, that against Pacqiuao, he didn't even have a trainer, he was training himself. No way to prepare for Pacquiao.
seriously, this thread is a joke :D 1. mayweather than 2. pacy than cotto
You are a joke..... that was like 20 years ago
Cotto KO'ed Judah (Mayweahter looked TERRIBLE, even got knocked down), and also beat Mosley when Mosley was closer to his better years. But was still old. That was like 3 years ago.

mayweather > cotto in any angles in boxing skills. cotto is loved because of his heart.

dude, cotto cant beat floyd. bottom line. he has nothing that poses a threat to a fighter like mayweather, i dnt even kno why im discussing it, come back when cotto learns how to clinch and then mebbe u have something.

seriously......stop......you are embarrassing yourself:tool:
Say you forgot the one were he said floyds reach and height advantage wouldnt mean anything in the fight.
Cotto would definitely not beat mayweather. Mayweather is the best fighter right now. If manny beats him then he'll still be the 2nd best behind manny but ahead cotto.

Cotto today would beat Mayweather, but Cotto in like '07 would've DESTROYED him.
But oh wait. Cotto lives too far away to fight.
Cotto KO'ed Judah (Mayweahter looked TERRIBLE, even got knocked down), and also beat Mosley when Mosley was closer to his better years. But was still old. That was like 3 years ago.
It would not be "easy work" Shane Mosley who got gassed without Mayweather even doing anything was easy work. Miguel Cotto is a tremendous fighter. Next to Pacquiao, he's the best.
Everybody on Floyd's resume... Pacquiao or cotto either beat way more decisively or beat a better version of....IF THEY EVEN EVER FOUGHT THEM.
Exactly. Substitue Mayweather into your statement and there you have what Mayweather does.
If Cotto and Mayweather fought right now, I would not say anything to downgrade. But YOU AND I KNOW THAT WONT HAPPEN!!!!!! Mayweather is a total coward. He has nobody to fight besides the two fighters, it won't happen. He'll retire.
It's now June 7th. Unless a deal is made by, I'd say, the end of July....Mayweather-Pacquiao is NOT happening by the end of this year. It's simple logic.
P.S. I think Mayweather's lost way more than Cotto has. Mayweahter's legs are starting to go Roach is right. I mean, it's not normal to run all the time at 3 in the morning, the body breaks down after a while.
I believe that Cotto does better than Pacquiao against Mayweather. Henry Bruseles is NOWHERE NEAR Miguel Cotto, ****aouttahere with that nonsense
Floyd won a split decsion against Oscar De la Hoya in 07. Miguel Ctto has a similar style. who do you think would've won then? Miguel Cotto, duh....
Shane was supposed to win but how can you deny ANY ONE of those other statements.
Listen, if he fights and beats Miguel Cotto right now I'd give him full credit. Because I know Miguel Cotto is not shot or done as a fighter. If he doesn't fight Pacquiao by the end of this year though, I'll never give him credit for beating this version of Pacquiao.

HAHAHAHAHHA! come on cotto???? hahahaha 2nd?
stupid mutha****er, you forgot
Martinez
Marquez
both far better fighters cotto is just good, if he is the 2nd best than damn boxing is shit, quit spit shining cottos cock shit is sickening.
Cotto>>>>>>>DLH of 2007. Cotto KO'ed Corley...did Mayweather? Cotto beat Mosley who was moving away..he beat Judah too. height and Reach don't win fights. SKILL does.
So much for a Pacquiao/Cotto fight. Mayweather knows the deal, he will not fight Pacquiao in his best form. Nor did he or will he fight Cotto.
I dont believe mayweather fought his hardest in the DLH fight but let me spit some facts to you. DLH has a 73" reach and a great jab so it is going to be effective for a little while atleast. Half way through the fight oscar couldnt even make himself throw the jab.
Naw he didnt KO corley, he thoroughly beat his ass like 11 rds to 1. Like I said before he gets no credit for the judah fight, from me, he hit him low twice because he was rocked and head butted him.
You said it best your self height and reach dont win fights, skill does. But what do you expect the most skilled boxer of these era, possibly ever, going to do with a height, reach, speed, experience, strength, defense, and footwork advantage?
Possibly the best counter puncher there is, has some of the best defense, seldom gets hit, lowers his opponents work rate every fight, and has some of the fastest hands.
Look at the matchups, this fight and the pacquiao fight will look just as bad as the marquez fight. Cotto comes in with his head down and he is always open for an uppercut and a straight right. Floyd has grown into his welterweight frame and is just two much for cotto and pacquiao.
I'm a huge fan of Cotto but he would get completely outclassed by Money May.
By outclassed you mean he'd be 39, overtrained but inactive, slightly weight drained, and overanxious, right?
People just say whatever nowadays.
"Prime Butterbean would beat Prime Foreman!" here's the proof...bs and bs plus bs and more bs ad that's how!! poll coming...
