Pretty hard call there......I honestly thought Cunningham thumbed Ross in the eye and produced that bad cut/malformation therefore I don't think a TKO for Cunningham is really that fair to Ross not to mention I think he was winning the fight after 4 rounds.
Ross was a class act and said the doctor and the ref did their job.
Considering a Super 6 at CW is on the loom a rematch doesn't seem likely.
Thoughts?
Ross was superior than Cunningham for sure
Troy Ross was absolutely the better fighter and it looked like Cunningham couldn't really land much on Ross at all. Ross was moving around and picking his punches, that's what I thought.
In the fourth round, Ross threw a double jab and straight left that sent Cunningham to the canvas. After Cunningham got up, Troy Ross moved in to continue to pressure Cunningham and perhaps finish him.....after Ross missed with a couple of punches, he continued to pressure Cunningham to the ropes.
It was at that point that Cunningham threw a punch with his thumb out. I know it probably wasn't on purpose, but it was just an odd punch. All the replays show Cunningham's thumb gouging Troy Ross' eye. There was no doubt that it was the thumb that gouged Ross' eye.
I would think in an appeal this fight would be over turned and in the slightest if this fight took place in the USA, it would have been declared a no contest or even gone to the scorecards in which case Troy Ross was clearly ahead.
Funny things happen over in Europe, Germany in particular. I heard that Cunningham signed a big promo deal with the German company, so obviously it was in their best interest to make Cunningham the victor.
didnt catch fight.
did replays show thumbing? or was it still questionable?
close fight or was ross realy ahead?
did ross corner protest? going to file complaint?
To be honest it looked like more of a thumb live than on replay,or more clearly. The punch seemed to hurt Ross after it landed altough it didn't look powerful at all.
This instance is not very clear but anyway:

The fight was close but Ross had to be ahead after 4,Cunningham won the 1st,Ross the 2nd,the 3rd was very close,I thought Ross edged it out and he won the 4th 10-8 so I'd think he had to be ahead.
didnt catch fight.

it was oficially a draw due to ross dropping cunningham in the 4th. i think ross should have been ahead though and most ppl seem to agree, but he was fighting a sauerland fighter so what do u expect?
nobody complained as far as i could tell, atleast not in the ring. ross said the day after he was thumbed but not while in the ring.
it was clearly a thumb, but its not like he intended to thumb him, he threw a punch and that part of the glove is what did the damage. if its a glove with an attached thumb (which i think it was) i think it counts as a legal blow. im not sure though. eighter way its questionable, since he threw a punch and didnt intentionally thumb him.
i dont think filing a complaint will do em any good. realisticly the best ross can hope for is the pole fights huck next so he can rematch cunningham while hes waiting to unify. or take on one of the losers of a unification.
until instant reply is apart of boxing yes it was all the ref had to go on was it was a punch so it was the right call.
but if instant reply was involved the ref would have seen it was more than a punch.
