Cotto used the 10 oz gloves though. They offer more protection and have more padding.

What does that say for Maidana, who wore the Protech variant instead and still managed to bust Floyd up?
He has never use those before. He has always used Reyes.
So why was that? It was a stipulation for the Foreman fight?
Is Cotto having hand problems??
They were the Everlast MX (Mexican Style) punchers gloves, made with horse hair. I've seen other fighter starting to use the same gloves.
THey had an article about it from Everlast and some pics of him posing wearing them and a everlast hat so im sure he got paid but they also said theyre the power puncher version of there gloves the inside is like some custom fitted horse hair fiber or something.
Berto didn't even wear the custom gloves they made him. Bad sport.
Well, Earner mentioned that sometimes fighters don't like the way things come out. In another thread he mentioned that the gloves he made for Arreola weren't to his liking.
Everlast, the global leader in Fight Sports and Fitness, is proud to announce three-time world champion Miguel Cotto will be wearing Everlast MX pro fight gloves on Saturday, June 5th at the new Yankee Stadium when he challenges current champion Yuri Foreman for the WBA world light middleweight title. “The Everlast MX glove design provides the fit and performance attributes I need to feel when going into a fight,” said former WBO world champion Miguel Cotto.
The Everlast MX Fight Glove, is one of three professional fight gloves offered by Everlast. Hand crafted in Mexico, the MX fight glove offers a customized fit through a hybrid foam-horsehair technology designed for power punchers such as Cotto.

Cotto’s custom Everlast MX gloves will showcase the colors of the New York Yankees, and are emblazoned with the Team Cotto logo, bible verse “Filipenses 4:13″ for inspiration, and “54/10″ in honor of the birth and death of his late father, Miguel Cotto Sr.
The fight will air live on HBO this Saturday at 10:15pm est/7:15pm pst.
Earner, who posts here and works for Everlast, told us that the new MX glove Everlast made is specifically meant for punchers, and that in the process of establishing the glove in the boxing world, it's stolen a lot of loyal Reyes guys from that brand. Earner also said that another big name Reyes guy is switching soon, I think.
They custom made the gloves for Cotto and he loved them, they had his Cotto logo with the wings, a bible verse and "54/10" to honor his late father. Not sure if Cotto will stay with the Everlast brand, but it seems as though he might.
