Hes made mine again. He won a fight that he shouldve lost in my opinion. Foreman isnt a world beater but he had the size, speed, style and the fact that hes a natural 154 Pounder in his favor. Foreman was perceived a threat because know one knew how much Cotto had left. On fight night I changed my pick to Cotto by stoppage and low and behold he KO'd him. Twice. lol.
1. Mayweather
2. Pacquiao
3. Williams
4. Dawson
5. Martinez
6. Ward
7. Calderon
8. Cotto
9. Wonjongkam
10. Montiel
Cotto is not a top ten P4P fighter and his fight with Clottey who is an average fighter himself proves that. A lot of people think Cotto should've lost that fight.
You could make an argument for putting him on the lower end of the top 10. The only fighters I think would beat him at 154 and Pwill and Martinez who are P4P material themselves.
Yea the same margarito who beat the crap out of cotto? And having a win over the lineal middle weight champion of the world is more than cotto has beat. He also has wright cintron and every body he has been in the ring with. Not like cotto in his two most important fights he got destroyed
Pwill lost to both Sergio (that was a gift decision) and Cintron, whom was easily outboxing him. I think he's peaked. Glass-jaw Quintana gave him a boxing clinic (remember Quintana is an older fighter, even in the rematch where he got KO'd)...
Cotto just beat the guy who beat the guy (Margarito) twice.
No Yuri is not a real champ. I appreciated his toughness though. When Miguel beats a top guy at 154 he will easily be mentioned in the top 10. Now he is top 15.
He beat the guy who beat the guy.
He was a champ, no power in his fists (though he was clocking an old Santos), with a not-so-fan-friendly style, but he was champ. It's not fair to him or Cotto to be downplaying either of them.

Wasn't Dirrell #7 on your list?
I dont remember where exactly. I took him off. I always counted the Froch fight as a win which wasnt fair to Froch.
Gun to my head Dirrell is one of the best 10 fighters in the world.
Really??
Elite 154 = Paul Williams and Sergio Martinez, both of which will wipe the floor with Cotto.
A fight with Williams is the way to go right now for Cotto, I guess you forgot how Quintana wooped Williams and how Cotto wooped Quintana??? But I guess that does not matter because it will be a totaly diffrent fight right?
The way I see it Cotto can and will KO Williams as easy as Quintana did.

i agree with all of that... but since its a "top 10 p4p" thread, thats why im discussing it...
i think he has trouble against williams or martinez, but i give him a better shot against williams.... that would be a HUGE win for him...
not sure what i think of a Cintron fight right now...
but i dont want him to go back to WW.. finally he didnt look too fatigued, if he can have good stamina at 154, more power to him.. but he is a little short
and yeah, he's got some high mileage at this point in his career... i think he defends his belt 2-3 more times at 154 then fights williams, martinez or similar and maybe rides off into the sunset... for his own good...
i see manny is thinking about a rematch... not sure i'd like that idea if i were a cotto fan
Well, on this subject, Cotto is somewhere between top 10-15 in the rankings. Some of the young up and comers deserve recognition.
I think I like his stamina at 154 as well. For some reason though he is a small guy, his stamina has been suffering lately at 147. Is it lack of training, drugs, sex before the fight? Who knows, but last night he showed improvement and he maintained his composure, which surprised me. Against Pac, the minute Pac went nuts he went nuts and got clocked for his effort.
Paul Williams is the best p4p fighter in boxing right now.
Cotto isn't all that skilled, and if your list is based on skill how in the hell does he even break top 5?
williams defense is suspect and he could get hit so what skills you talking about
Well, he's a three division champ now. P4P or not. Who really cares about P4P anyways, its subjective hogwash.
He may be too small to campaign at 154, and he's got accumulated damage that may impede him from performing at his best level from now on.

ok, just for fun... say i agree with you... again, for fun
ive admitted already that cotto looked good in this fight and is at least ready to fight the top 154 pounders.. not saying he'll win
but that in no way means he's top 10 p4p after one good performance against a guy who has NO power and f*cked up his leg ON HIS OWN in the fight...
the point is, if you overlook foreman's injury then its a bad judgment call, because guess what... the injury was real and actually happened... unlike all the people saying "the fight wouldnt have changed one bit, cotto this cotto that" etc etc...
and a win over yuri foreman wont catapult anyone into top 10 p4p....

His jabs had Yuri's nose trickling blood, his jab had sent Yuri back into the ropes countless times, and he had landed some solid shots. Yuri had two, maybe three solid shots on Cotto, in five rounds. He wasn't winning like that, Cotto was not wary of him, you can't beat him if he doesn't respect you.

there is a difference
if it was stopped because of a cut that cotto CAUSED himself... thats a lot different... this was a freak accident, a slip... not from a punch or a butt or anything...
when you see a fighter beat someones face in and they're cut to the point of having the fight stopped, its different than when someone slips and f*cks up their knee and loses

He is a C level fighter at best. Speaking truthfully who could he beat at 154? Sure as hell isnn't touching Paul Williams or martinez, and would still lose to Cintron and Angullo. Yuri was a larger slightly better Jennings.
He is not beating Williams, Martinez, or even Dzinziruk. But, those are the elites at 154. And, then Cotto follows who is obviously Foreman can't beat.
But, after the that there is a big drop off. I could see Foreman beating Cintrong. Foreman showed last night he has intangibles that Cintron doesn't. I think people really underrate the intangibles in boxing. So with the intangibles taking place I could see Foreman beating Cintron. I could style wise Foreman giving a lot of problems to Angulo.
I think Foreman right now, as of now is better than whoever wins the Spinks-Bundrage fight.
Foreman is a top 10 fighter. However, I would give you that the reason he might be top 10 is cuz the division is so weak.
