Cotto obviously earned the victory but should Yuri Foreman have been disqualified when his cornerman entered the ring?
It seemed that the ref did not want to call the disqualification as it would mean Cotto would not get the belt.
If the ref really wanted to give foreman the opporunity to continue fighting why did he stop the fight when he did, because foreman could have got up from that punch, the ref did not even give him a count.
Moments earlier he emptied a whole ring and was giving the injured man who obviously was not going to recover every chance to continue. Just seemed strange he would do that.
1. You can win a title on DQ. This is not the WWE where boxers can smash the other guy with a chair to retain their belts.
2. A stoppage from a knee injury would have resulted in a TKO for Cotto, not a TD.
Funniest shit I've read all week.
Mercante just didn't want to spoil the fight with a DQ or a BS towel throw, it was good refereeing IMO.

First of all you do win a title on DQ....second of all they said it wasnt Yuri's trainer that threw in the towel and both corners came into the ring.....the ref continued the fight after Foreman said he wants to continue
Foreman fought his heart of but Cotto wins that fight 99/100 times......Yuri just isnt up to Cottos level and would have lost no matter what he did

if the ref would have stopped the fight due to foremans knee, they would gone to the score cards.
In the interest of the sport, I think he made the right call by letting Foreman continue.
Though Yuri's kidneys will be very sore for the next couple of days, at least he went out like a man.
