Granted if Cotto wins impressively against Foreman this weekend....how do you see potential fights against the fighters mentioned above playing out?
vs. P-Willy: Bad style to go up against.....too tall, too rangy work rate...P-Willy by TKO in the late rounds.
vs. Cintron: If Cintron uses the jab...it would be a long night for Cotto....if Cintron gets lazy...Cotto might have a chance to out-box Cintron....Cintron by SD or Cotto by UD.
vs. Kirkland: Don't even do it Bob....Kirkland by muderous KO.
vs. Angulo: This fight actually might be best suited for Cotto....Angulo would be coming forward all night and Cotto could catch him with counters and left hooks to the body....I see a UD of TKO for Cotto.
Thoughts?
I fear the same. Cotto's not that big, people made him out to be a big welter, when he's not. Margarito, Clottey, Cintron, even Quintana were bigger.
Cotto, IMO, was a avg. sized WW......Marg, Clottey, Cintron even Quintana could campaign EASILY in the JrMW division.....BUT bigger doesn't mean better....the old addage "A Good Big Man beats a Good Little Man" gets thrown out the window here.....
Cotto was outboxing Margarito (not hurting him) for the better part of 6 rounds...plaster or not...Cotto gassed out....and plaster doesn't help your chin.
Against Clottey...Cotto again gassed out in the later rounds, and was fighting with that bad cut....and was still able to pull out the W.
Cotto already beat Quintana.....
Cintron would be a hard fight...tall, lanky, decent jab...but knowing that Cintron gasses out himself in the later rounds, it comes down to heart with these two.
Cotto gets ktfo by all of them imo. They're all too big and can all punch.
Except for Williams but he'll just outwork him and make him quit.

Interesting takes....
regarding Cotto beating P-Willy: P-Willy took some hard shots against Martinez...I doubt that Cotto has more boxing ability and power than Sergio...but we'll have to wait and see.
regarding Cotto beating Kirkland: I will say that Kirkland hasn't been TRULY TESTED yet...but hey...the man has been in prison for the last what...12months? JrMW division is just getting heated up for his return...
regarding El Perro beating Cotto: I doubt El Perro walks thru Cotto's punches and walk Cotto down the same manner in which Margarito did. Cintron showed that a jab is key to slowing down Angulo.
He looses to all of them apart from Cintron who jumps out of the ring/fakes a headbutt/folds like a lawn chair/starts crying.
Ah, just saw Kirkland's name. He beats Kirkland with some crisp shots. Kirkland is just a crude slugger who will be exposed by the superior boxers in the division such as Martinez, Williams, Angulo etc.
LMAO, thats funny

Williams and Angulo aren't exactly superior boxers. Cintron and Martinez are more skilled.
I think Cotto can beat Cintron and Angulo. Neither fight will be easy, but if Cotto is in good shape and spirits, he could win.
Williams is a bad style and Kirkland might be too relentless and big.
I feel that Kirkland is too strong and active for Cotto. Kirkland is about 190 right now in prison.
Kirkland looked like a body builder in his last fight. I watched an older fight, and he didn't look nearly as big.
