I THINK IT'S ALL ABOUT MATCH MAKING WITH ROACH. I don't think i need to tell you guys what kind of fighters he likes to make his fighters face. Especially his superstar
I would give the best match maker award to Floyds Team for placing Floyd in the ring with a bloated lightweight Marquez, and Old over trained Mosely, a fighter not comfortable at Welter Hatton, and a passed his prime just in it for the Money Delaquitter... Lets not forget Zab who was coming off a loss and Baldomir who wasnt even a top Welter..
So Floyds team and advisers get the award for the best match making..
His specialty is match making
He is also a decent trainer but his match-making makes him seem better than he really is as a trainer. As of right now I wouldnt say he is the best trainer that's out there
Raging Rondo for sure will pose a lot or problems with the Lakers but Kobe will easily offset it.
102 - 89 OT, Lakers win. Pau stepped up big time and great defensive job on Garnett too.:439:
Roach is a good trainer, but yeah, he is very good at picking the right guys at the right time.
no one is better than floydie on picking past prime, old, and shot fighters. He's also good at ducking fighters that have a chance of kicking his gay ass. :439:
a bit of both. but it is no secret that roach makes matches he feels his fighters are capable of winning. he isnt the risk type. but then again, he trains fighters who are well established or who have great potential. but yea a big part of his talent is definitely matchmaking.
Have a look at the version of Pac that was on the Tyson vs Lewis undercard, then have a look at the version of Pac that beat Cotto. Then you might be able to come to your own conclusion.
What about the refinement in Pac's style fight after fight.
The Morales fights are perfect example of that.
Also part of being a good trainer is good match making.
It's not like Pac has gone up against bum after bum.
A lot of people had DLH as favorite and same for Cotto.
Roach is one of the greats imo.
I actually have it a toss up because while I like the lakers, I don't know what answer they will have for Rondo
Yup. And Fish got two fouls right now.. :boxing:
I agree. I think he's great at knowing his fighters weaknesses and knows how to work on there positives and not fight a fighter that will exploit his fighters weaknesses.
His predictions about fights are also 70% right as well...he knows his fighter's ability and matches you up to surpass what you thought you can handle...
He's a good trainer but he also matches you up with things you need to learn...he tries to make you a well rounded boxer...
