They should really bring back the Weigh-Ins on the day of the fight, it would help/teach these guys to not weight drain themselves and then blow up 20+ pounds, very unhealthy and guys like Jermaine Taylor would actually gain some stamina.
If these trainers haven't figured out that draining and blow up in weight is what's ruining these guys stamina then.......shit.
If you disagree and think One day before the fight is good as it is, then vote up.
The disadvantage:
If the fighters does not make weight on the same day, the fight will be canceled at the same time you ordered the fight. :D
You've made all you plans that day and not making weight definitely fak up your day. At least in the day before the fight you have a day to make changes on your plans.
There is a hefty fine to pay if you don't make weight though.
Floyd paid a 300k per pound fine against Marquez.
Castillo had to pay 250k fine against Corrales.
Good Question
Interesting subject, both have there advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand it could hamper certain matches from being made, and on the other it could balance out fights. Weight draining is an issue that has helped some fighters rise to stardom, yet been their downfall as they strained to make weight as they age. I believe that weighing in a day before should remain the standard, but I would not be opposed to a fighter receiving a half point to start the fight if they truly were still under the weight limit on the day of the fight. This half point would give the edge the fighter only in the event of a draw.
Would it not be safer for fighters to not blow up and drain every fight?
They would still do it (though perhaps not to the same extent) and would be at a much higher risk of brain injury without having had sufficient time to rehydrate.
I still voted for same-day weigh-ins though, if it actually did encourage boxers to stop cutting weight, it would be great to see lightweights who are actually 135lbs and not 147lbs etc.
Day before the fight, it's safer and it's an event in itself.
Is it really safer?

I mean it would force fighters to train year round. Thats a good thing.
Day of the fight if weight classes are to be taken seriously.
Why have a set limit and on fight night we all know the fighters might weigh alot more seems silly. Its also dumb to have fighters draining themselves so they can fight in smaller weight classes.
