Fair example: mayweather supposedly hasn't got much power, but his timing sent hatton into the corner..pacquiao's power however dropped hatton dead..
Punches hurt n more likely to ko you if you don't see them, but you could see a Tyson punch coming and it would probably still kill ya ;)
what do you think causes more KO's? And excellently TIMED punch or a punch thrown with exceptional POWER ??
floyd has the best timing in the universe, but he still couldn't stop mosley.
But nobody has ever stopped Mosley. In all those years only Vernon Forrest has come close.

Both... ...
60% Timing, 40% Power. Varies though, those that really on timing often won't always have the highest % of KO, and those with KO power that don't use timing efficiently won't have high % KO.

An excellently timed punch thrown with no power is not going to cause a KO. A powerful punch thrown without excellent timing can cause a KO, although the chances are less than if the punch was thrown both with power and timing.
If I had to choose one over the other for KOs Id have to pick power. Mayorga has worse timing than many a fighter, but when you hit that hard all it takes is one shot.
It's a little bit of both. It's one of those cases where you can't have one without the other.
I agree, if I can can give an example the Lennox Lewis Vs Oliver Mccall fight.
Oliver is really not known for being a power house puncher but the timing he had when he tagged Lewis was what gave him the KO and ultimately gave him the win.
And, as someone already mentioned one can argue on the flip side regarding fighters already possessing brute strength for KO's i.e. Tito, Tyson, and a few others.
One can argue for both...
Brute power and strength is better for the KO.
You can have excellent timing and still hit like a girl.
Floyd contrary to popular belief is not feather fisted like hes portrayed on this site. Dude can punch. He hurt Shane in their fight to the head and body.
Guys like Tito, Foster, Foreman, Frazier will always get the KOS.
Tyson had excellent power. ut his power came from how fast he was. His power was more so based on speed. Then add that to the strength and upper body explosiveness he had and then you have a deadly combination.
