Thanks champion for all the great fights you gave us. You faced two excellent opponents in Fabrice Tiozzo and Roy Jones Jr when they were in their prime and you were still green. No one gave you a chance of winning, but you made the distance against Tiozzo (And all the frenchies over there were singing your name after the fight instead of Tiozzo because you showed tremendous heart). Against Roy Jones, no one gave you a chance of going more than 5 rounds but you showed once again tremendous heart before getting stopped in the late rounds.
Who tought that one day you'd became champion? Some promoter left you out because they thought you'd never be more than a canadian champion. You didn't have the power, the speed of a champion they said. One thing is sure, you had a good chin and a bigger heart than 99% of the fighters in the game. When you knocked Cattley, all the province of Quebec was behind you.
When you were robbed against Beyer, you said you would avenge this by beating him again but the paper champ ran away from you before getting stopped by Kessler.
Even tonight, you proved once again that even at the age of 39, you can still put some exciting fights and prove the doubters wrong.
It's time to retire Lucas, thanks for this great career!!!
Great fight, props to Librado too is a nice guy. Lucas is a great man outside and inside the ring. Even Jones in the ninety's was so impress by Lucas's heart that he invited him to train for some time with him.
Also in the last years his daughter had cancer so it wasnt easy at all for him. Lucas is to me the perfect example that even if you loose you can gain the respect of people by giving everything you have doing the thing you love.
Prend soin de toi Éric ta eu une belle carrière !
Great fighter and good person. He went way farther with jones than everyone thought and lost by doctor stoppage, he wouldve taken jones the distance.
:boxing:
Lucas was/is an overachiever, he wasn't great in any one area but he put together all that he had and had success doing it.
Exactly, he had lot less talent than some guys out there, but he always believed in him, he trained and dedicated to his sport 24/7 when he was a fighter.
