In what promoter Bob Arum nicknamed The Battle of The Champions, Pryor defeated Alexis Arguello by a technical knockout in 14 in front of an HBO audience. The fight was named Fight Of The Year and later the Fight Of The Decade by Ring Magazine.
The fight sparked controversy however, because Pryor's trainer, Panama Lewis, introduced a second water bottle which he described as "the bottle I mixed" after round 13. The boxing press which had been heavily 'promoted' by promoter Bob Arum to support Alexis Arguello, seized upon these few words to claim that Pryor's overwhelming knockout victory in this fight was undeserved.
Adding to the controversy, the Florida State Boxing Commission administered a post-fight urine test which Pryor failed testing positive for steroids.
In 1983, after defending his crown against former WBC world champion Sang Hyun Kim (KO 3), Pryor defended against Arguello again, this time winning by a knockout in 10 rounds in Las Vegas on September 9, 1983, but again tested positive for steroids.
You have to watch those high output guys... usually, it's steroids...

aaron pryor was a beast, he was the best 140'der probably ever. his style was remarkable, his chin was granite, his stamina and work rate were in a class of their own. you want to talk about one of the most feared fighters in the sport, it was pryor in his prime. Sugar Ray leonard didn't want to fight him even when he said he was willing to come up in weight, not because he was scared because he knew it wasn't worth the hard work that ahead of him in a pryor fight. even tommy hearns said that he had enough of pryor from the gym and amateur days.
Leonard did offer Pryor a fight, however. Half a million wasn't enough for Pryor.
I thought it was a bit of a lowball offer, but not totally outrageous considering how much Pryor was usually making and how much bigger names like Duran and Benitez got for facing Leonard.
yeah, i call full on bullshit on that first article saying pryor admitted taking roids. as a aaron pryor diehard fan, i've never seen or heard anything of him having taken a drug test and having tested positive. nor have i heard pryor say he took roids.
i've watched all of his fights, interviews, done stories on him for school, studied up on his opponents, etc, not nothing of any of sort about him admitting taking anything.
just like the post above, i've seen that one a bunch before, how he had to fight again to prove he wasn't in any shenanigans, and he took the fight to arguello even harder in the rematch.

aaron pryor can say whatever the fvck he wants about whatever he wants. he's one of the best ever to lace them up.
Pryor interview:
http://www.boxing-monthly.co.uk/content/0511/two.htm
Boxing Monthly: "Subsequently, that career-high triumph became tarnished. In the later rounds, TV monitors recorded chief second Panama Lewis instructing his aides to pass up “the bottle I mixed earlier”, leading to suggestions of impropriety. So what was going on?"
Aaron Pryor: "Every place I go, people say: “What was in the water?” I don’t know! I didn’t give myself the water. Panama told me it was peppermint schnapps to help settle my stomach ‘cos I’d been burpin’! Shortly after, Panama got in trouble with another fighter’s gloves .
Because of that, people assumed he done something wrong with the black bottle in the Arguello fight. In the papers the next day, the media accused me of winning the fight illegally and, suddenly, all the credibility I earned for beating Alexis was up in the air. I’ve got a cloud over my head. I was cryin’. You can’t imagine how I was hurtin’.
That would never have come up if I’d had a urine test taken from me. I had to fight Alexis again just to clear my name."
Pryor can say whatever he wants. It's his opinion. Some fighters and trainers are good at predicting fights, others are not.
What was in the bottle that Panama mixed hasn't ever been verified. Luis Resto said in the documentary Assault in the Ring that Panama often gave his "asthma drugs" to "open up the lungs". Maybe it was that, who knows.
Manny Steward said in an interview over at ESB that Pryor said to him that he and Panama were doing illegal things. Steward seems to have a good deal of respect for Pryor so I was a little surprised that he'd basically rat him out like that, but then again it was also so Manny could talk about what he did as a trainer, so I guess it's not unexpected.
Manny probably said afterwards "Pryor won the rematch in the exact same fashion I expected him to".

For one There was never a post fight urine test.
http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Aaron_Pryor_vs._Alexis_Arguello_%281st_meeting%29
And you're article never gives a reference for when Pryor admitted to using steroids.
I would not be shocked to know that you wrote this page to back up you're claims.
You most likely took most of the info from wiki and added the steroid crap.
The original info is from Wiki. So why is none of steroid crap in the wiki page?
larryx2010 you got owned!!!!

Nah Larry I'm not saying he doesn't have the right to comment. But the fight is on thin ice as is. Steroid testing is an issue. Therefore, we don't need old steroid users commenting on the shit, nor do we need Pac's bum ass boys commenting. We need to let Arum and GBP do their jobs....
link or it never happened.
Your dreams will come true my friend. Manny will never do an official test, he'll never fight Floyd and you can always hold on to the thought of "Floyd was scared, Manny woulda beat his chicken ass, Floyds a coward"
While Manny goes on to fight the likes of MargaCheato then retire free and clear.... your hero!
You got owned, did you read the artical?
Who is one of Floyd's all time favorite fighters? Yeah Aaron Pryor, he mentioned it... Who wants to "clean" boxing? quite contradictory that Floyd loves cheaters. He is full of shit just like you.
Why can't you ever stay on topic?
The ts is clearly stating facts and all you can do is deflect. I love Pryor to, think he was a great fighter, but he's a cheater. I can't respect a cheater backing a cheater, but it seems you're cool with it cause he's backing Pac. What does that say about you?
And you keep saying "Floyd is trying to clean the sport" we covered that already. Floyd is cleaning his fights, it would be nice if boxing would follow and test these guys (that's what he means) So stop putting weight on a broken leg, dayum!
In 1990 it was discovered that Pryor had been fighting with eye problems, and he was never allowed to box again. After twenty five years of denying it, Pryor admitted to using steroids for his two bouts with Arguello, but swears he fought cleanly the rest of his career.
link or it never happened.
Is he really a steroid user?... I thought if he was he wouldn't go down as one of the all time greats. Where was it proven... Pryor has gone down as one of the best in history and one of Floyd's favorite fighters. One of Floyd's favorites used steroids???... I thought he was against that. So I guess steroids aren't taken that seriously if pryor gets his name up there as an ATG anyway... Can you supply me with the article that proves he actually used steroids. You flomos seem to have all the evidence in your head.
