No I'm not bluffing or BSing. Its the truth. Oscar before he got rich was ****ing ruthless. I strongly advise you guys to check this link out and watch De la Hoya vs Jeff Mayweather. Jeff fights similar to Floyd just with less power. That video is the blueprint on how to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. Notice that Jeff tried using movement but Oscar cus the ring off and got the KO. I strongly believe that 22 to 26 year old Oscar would have beat any version of Floyd Mayweather Jr. The problem is that nobody today has what oscar had back then...
Height
Reach
Stiffest Jab
Meanest flurries.

I would have just embedded the video but IDK how to get the code with my blackberry. Sorry....
I find this argument odd. He stopped throwing his jab for a reason - he was constantly getting smacked in the face when he threw it. It isn't like he just came out in round 6 or whatever and said, "that's it, jab's done for the night".
LMAO!!! This is the first thing that came to mind:
What's your argument?
Why did those two have a better jab than oscar?
Quartey had a better jab than Oscar. In fact, Quartey had the best jab I had seen in years.
Floyd won pretty handily but that performance was quite unimpressive. I figured maybe he didn't want to ruin his chance at a rematch. IDK, I came away from that fight thinking that Floyd was slowing down.
unimpressive?
No offense but ask yourself what is more impressive.
Fight Oscar De La Hoya @145lbs (DLH's 1st fight under 150lbs since 7 years) using a stick and move strategy based on the lack of foot speed of De La Hoya which is just what Pac did.
Or fight Oscar De La Hoya @154lbs literally stand in front off him the entire night take away his jab break him down and finally beat him what Floyd Mayweather did.
C'mon a fighter that is so good that he doesn't have to use his legs to win a fight. Just my 2 cent but that's most impressive.
Its MORE than odd Dan. The guy/girl just heard someone say it and repeated it.
I think the myth was instigated by Oscar in his post-fight interview where he said something like "it just wasn't the night of the jab". Well yeah, because you kept getting nailed with straight right counters whenever you threw it.

Didn't you see the oscar-floyd fight? If oscar didn't stop throwing his jab it should have been a UD win for oscar.
Pernell is twice better than floyd in his prime......

Way not to answer the question..so I'll ask again.
Who do you think won when Oscar fought Ike Quartey (Bazooka) and Pernell?
coming from the guy who said Cotto was done after jr.ww lols!
I didn't say he was done after fighting at 140. What I said was that he was in wars AT the weight AND his fight with Antonio ruined him and that was the end of his prime. Get it right. Laugh at that.

He is just a self proclaimed boxing fans who pretend to know everything about the sport just like his favorite fighter. LOL.
do you actually believe what you say?

You probably never seen Oscar fight in his prime.

He/she knows NOTHING about boxing. He/she probably just started watching when Manny fought Oscar. I'm serious. Just being real.

I had Oscar winning both.
On topic, I used to think a prime Oscar at 147 might have been too much for Mayweather. I don't anymore though. I think Floyd fought an overly cautious fight against Oscar at 154.
I think a prime on prime matchup between the two (at 147) is a wider decision win for Mayweather.

If an old out of prime oscar was robbed against the prime mayweather then i have no doubt that oscar will against floyd with his jab alone in his prime....

Oscars jab was good......but quartey's got a better pop
I dont disagree with that, Quartey's jab had more pop. It was very straight and had a lot of pop. More times then not, he didn't set up anything after the jab and a lot of times he threw from the same exact angle, and usually one at a time. It was meant to hurt and it did hurt. The punch itself was very fast, but he loaded slightly to throw it with such force, then there was sort of a reseting phase afterwards.
Oscars Jab is ranked higher in my opinion, by how effectively he used it. It was fast and it had good pop. He set up other shots with it and was able to throw mutliple jabs at times. And get throw it from more than one angle. It's main goal wasn't to hurt, but it did consequently by how effective it was.
I'm not by any means saying quartey didn't have a great jab, Maybe i should have said Oscar was better with the jab.
