Can someone with some knowledge explain how if a guy weighs 175 and fights a guy weighing 170 that will make a difference in the fight....I understand when guys weigh 120 or 130 a couple pounds is a decent percentage of their weight but 160+ weight divisions whats the big deal?
weight on the scale can be alot different then weight on fight night, making someone dehydrate a little more can weaken them,
also some dehydrate well, and walk in really heavy on fight night... the scale weight is just what they weigh before the fight... they can come in 15lbs heavier on fight night... so if you think about it weighing in at 140, having your opponent weigh in at 147 seems like only 7 lbs until dude-mo rehydrates to 167 against your 145lbs ass.
Exactly,Cotto-Corley comes to mind...weigh they were 140 and 137,fight night tthey were 157 and 140.
Same day weigh-ins should be used.

you get hit with a 1 lb ball by a strong throwing machine.
you get hit with a 6 lb ball by a strong throwing machine.
you will feel the difference.
please....you cant be that stupid....6 pounds is 600% that of 1 pound so this is the worst analogy I have ever heard
175 is roughly 3% over 170 .....logic next time please
When all things ability wise are close to equal concerning fighting one on one there is a reference that is as old as the hills that says what will get you beat if you give away any more than .
A stone in a man , a pound in a dog and ounce in a gamecock .
Apparently some small guy thought he had giant nuts to take on a much bigger guy and got squashed like the weasle that he was in the process. Hence the weight divisions.
1 word = Gamache
Joey Gamache was brutally knocked out by the late Arturo Gatti in a fight where Gatti came into 20 lbs heavier. Good example...
