someone who thinks highly of himself opined that because he is sick of larry merchant because he feels and thinks thank mr. merchant always diss his favorite boxer and always ready to praise the boxer he hates mr. merchant should go and leave boxing. what kind of logic is that? because a person cannot and are not conforming to your preference and you personally hate him you want him to vanish/out of the sport that millions of people patronizes? what arrogance. for all the craziness, the supposed biases and shortcomings and excesses of mr. larry merchant, he has contributed so much to modern boxing and that hes part of its history that not anyone of you self righteous arrogant prik poser posters can equal even half of it in two lifetimes.
sometimes this kinds of poser arrogant poster should be put in their proper place, and tell it to their face your opinion is sh*t.

Merchant is oldschool! He is not part anyones hype committee or advertising campain. He calls it as he sees it. We actually need more like him rather than dumping him because he tells the truth rather than kisses up to HBO stars. Besides there are so many here that could learn from one of the experts in the sport.
I don't see why people fuss so much about Merchant. I laugh every time he interviews someone with that long pause lol.
So he doesn't like certain fighters, so what? You think he's the only one? LOL
He's been a little too negative about just everything lately, thats his main problem. At times it sounds like he hates what he's doing instead the other way around.
Even on positive fights/nights, he finds someway to interject some negative point. He did it with Berto/Quintana, Martinez/Pavlik, If you saw E:60 with Yuri Foreman on ESPN, he did it there too lol.

I like Larry cus he's been there for such a long time and he also like to talk shit to boxers...and no he's not racist, the guy was part of a group that managed Joe Frazier.
there were times that max was too hysterical for me, for me what did it for him was the one he conducted after floyd won over jmm. he can easily panicked and at one point i was seeing him as elie sechback, the reeeporting guy.
larry merchants character adds color to the already colorful roster of boxers around, his words adds controversies on its own to the already controversial world of boxing. when he talks he leans forward to the boxers face sideways and ask questions as direct as you can get without any preamble, as it is. no matter how you hate the guy or how a boxer for that matter hate him and wanted to punch his nose right there and then, he cannot, thats larry merchant. if you noticed when the one hes interviewing tries to evade his question he tries to really get the guy to answer them so that fans will hear it. larry merchant adds entertainment to the post fight interview.
I made this point before as well. I don't hate Max, but how can people even respect this guy as a commentator when he looked like he was about to cry, asking for mommy and daddy once FLoyd put him on the spot. It was really pathetic to watch. What do you think will happen if a badass heavyweight start talking down on him? Curl into a ball and suck his thumb? lol

Very true great post.:fing02:
I have never liked Larry Merchant because he brings nothing to the telecast. He is known mostly for his little comments and his Andy Rooney type comments at the end of fights.
Personally I could do without them. I think the best guy out there right now is Al Bernstein, unfortunately he's on Showtime. He actually TALKS boxing and doesn't get involved with all the philosophical bullshit.
I also think Max Kellerman is great, he's young, has fresh ideas and you can tell he loves the sport of boxing. He says things that are hot topics or opinions that most people on the internet feel.

I didnt get to see Tibbar's post. He was already on ignore
Larry Merchant is easily the worst commentator in boxing
And has been for a long time
oh yeah you did put me on ignore, so what, does that make me a lesser person? oh no i dont believe so. does that make you a great one, neither that homie, it only shows how arrogant, ignorant and shallow minded you are. put everyone on ignore, its your lost not theirs.
you should at best put larry merchant on ignore too so youll not get to see or hear him.
Actually i agree with the larry merchant should Go quote not because hes a racist etc but mainly because he talks so much SHIT this fken guy when he gets going in one of those time for my speech moments that he thinks its going to mark boxing... i want to knockout my tv idk if its because hes becoming a rambling old man because i havent been around for all that long to remember him way back but ffs someone shut him d fk up.

My problem with Larry is his credibility when it comes to reporting facts to the public.
He asked shane mosley directly in a post fight interview would he take floyds challenge and shane wouldn't really answer. he asked him again and shane said he couldn't because he had to get a tooth fixed. Everyone agrees these are facts and they are easily viewed here and on youtube.
When floyd returns from "retirement" to fight marquez, larry openly accusses floyd of ducking the top welterweights, and specifically says he ducked Shane Mosley. Huh?
I may not feel as strongly as some other posters, but even if you hate floyd you have to be able to see why so many feel he is biased. IMO, he knows the truth but chooses to avoid it when the subject is a fighter he openly hates.
I don't care who larry likes or hates, he is entitled to his own opinion. just tell the truth on the air.

Totally agree with this post.Larry the Legend Merchant is key what he says you should listen to because he been around this great sport and its fighters for yrs now.If he saying he does not like Judah it's because of how Judah carry's him self in an out of the ring.Merchant gave Judah credit in his fights with Clottey,Cotto, and even Mayweather. But Merchant is no fool and can see a hand pic fight when there is one.He gave May his due after the Hatton fight and while he called the Hatton fight. But just like me a humble fan of boxing he wants to know what's next.Instead of being like the GOAT Ali and having some fun with Merchant making Merchant his Cosell he cry's and say's no one wants to give me my due.I for one think May has gotten better and more mature in interviews(When he wants to be)and you can't say enough about the man's skill but what do you want Merchant to do kiss his black ass?Larry The Legend Merchant will be miss(By me at least)when he is gone nobody is gonna tell it like it is like him.I got love for Max but he an't no Merchant.
