Is it up there with Trinidad-Oscar? What about Ali's scraps with Foreman and the first Frazier fight? Holmes-Cooney? Oscar-Mayweather? Tyson-Holyfield? Hagler-Hearns? Hagler-SRL??
Where does a fight of this magnitude get ranked in your opinion of the "biggest fights" in the sport.
IMO I say yes. Mayweather and Pacquiao arent just the two biggest boxers in the world. They are two of the most popular "people" in the world period.
In the internet age, 24/7, promos and all the other stuff that will happen. This fight is the biggest IMO. Just when the two camps are negotiating boxing fans go crazy.
in our time? hell yeah! it is the biggest fight ever....
i hope it happens....
i wont get excited this time unless the contract is signed by both camps.:boxing:
its the biggest fight right now, in this age... and the biggest ppv.... but ever? probably not, wasn't there a dempsey fight in a field somewhere that had 1million people in attendance? imagine if that was the attendance how many people would ppv that shit.... also didn't Schmelling/Louis II have like 100million people that listened on the radio?
just saying
In the bold.......NO. Dempsey had the 1st Million dollar gate(with Tunney) not attendance. If I can recall correctly the actual attendance for that fight was in the 100,000's or very close to it. It's the same fight where Dempsey's rule(Neutral corner) came back to bite him in the as$.
I've said this before, this is a good fight. All of the media and ost drama have really hyped this one up. It's an important fight for boxing right now. Once the fight happens however, i think the actual fight won't be nearly as exciting as the buildup. It will be good dont get me wrong, epic? i don't know about that.
the biggest fight ever..there is so much hate going on between the supporters...the winner of this side would shut up a big fan base.
No it wouldn't who ever loses their fans will make excuses, either manny is a ped user thats why he beat mayweather, or that he was blood drained if he takes the tests and loses to floyd. The argument will still continue when both of these great fighters retire!
Personally i will be the biggest fight for most modern boxing fans!
Boxing is just not the sport it was for this to be the biggest fight ever. In the 30's-70's, two ATG fighters like this who have no competition for each other would be the biggest event in sports, all around the world, like the great heavyweight clashes were.
I feel it can be one of the most important fights ever made. If these two get in a ring and deliver a great fight, it could start boxing on a potential rejuvenation to relevance it hasn't seen since Tyson.
I dont know if it will the most entertaining or exciting fight ever. But it surely is one of the most eagerly anticipated fights i can remember. THe will, they or wont they scenario is probably wetting peoples appetites as well.
I am not old enough to say whether it is the biggest. But you got the no1 and 2 boxers in the world battling it out for no1 status and all this drug talk.
Yes it proably is the biggest.
after louis smelling , people called chavez taylor biggest ever, then dela hoya trinidad, their were some that said this shit for the dumb fight between jones jr ruiz, then delahoya mayweather , now pacquiao floyd
this is not the biggest ever, another fight will pass it , this happens too often
Not as big as Ali Frazier or Hagler Hearns. It would be the biggest money making fight if it ever goes down. I'd put it up with the top 10 most anticipated fights in history.
I dont know for sure, in terms of history or significance but this would be the biggest PPV Event of ALL TIME!!!
This for sure will eclipse ODLH-PBF and Floyd would pocket the top 1 & 2 PPVs record ...
This fight should be sprinkled with boxing stars in its undercard. It should be packed with explosive fights right from the beginning.
It's possible that the main event would be a short one, either way.
Otherwise, Avatar 2 might be a better alternative.

I was trying not to get my hopes up for the fight until it is signed because I really don't want to get disappointed, but this thread just made me salivate for this fight more. Damn you TS!
This should be the biggest fight ever.
Most things have gone global now. Everyone can have their news updated every minute, 24/7.
And for those who see this as some kind of a contest between two countries, or races if you want, don't even go there. Once you become a big celebrity these days, you become automatically a world citizen. Everyone wants to root for you regardless of where you come from.
I agree, though, that is is strictly boxing. It should have no significance at all on everyone's personal life and outside of it.
Once it's over, it's over. It's pure entertainment.
"We not at war" Maybe not you, who's sitting at home. But i have two boys fighting in Iraq as i write this. :usa:
I meant not at war with Germany.
I dont have any kinds words about the "war" the United States is involved in now and I really dont want to go there right now. But with that said hope your kids make it back. Im about to have a daughter and shes not even born and I couldnt imagine losing her.
