"The most awkward part about if for European and foreign fighters coming over to America has been that we always look better than them because of our ryhthm," said Banks.
"The majority of them -- and what I'm really talking about is the black fighters -- we have a certain rhythm that we fight with," said Banks. "And if you can't get with that ryhthm, then you're going to get out-boxed and out-worked every day of the week." - Johnathon Banks
Do you agree with Banks? Do black fighters have a certain rhythm that others can't cope with it?

Yeah, it's true. It isn't always true but for the most part, yes, it is. Just like majority of Mexican fighters have this style and range that is hard for alot of people to get used to, unless you have fought alot of mexicans.
its true for the most part. Europeans tend to be robotic, whites tend to have bad footwork in general, spanish fighters never feel pain apparently and black fighters care about how they look all the time so they will be the smoothest....idk about asians
Asians are similar to Mexicans. They tend to come forward regardless and take on alot of damage. I don't think they are as durable but they have the "your going to have to kill me to stop me." mentality like mexicans do.
It's more about the training in my opinion.
In the past there were fighters like Joey Archer, Willie Pep, Benny Leonard, great boxers with tons of experience who were as slippery as any boxer today.
European fighters are taught to box in textbook fashion, with emphasis on the guard and punching with full leverage, not mobile footwork, which is why it might be shocking for an European boxer to face an American "slick" boxer for the first time. This doesn't necessarily include British boxers though who are taught to box more "freely", sometimes to their detriment.
If the "slick" boxer in question doesn't possess more natural talent than the textbook fighter then the more solid fundamentals tend to win out. Khan vs Malignaggi is a recent example of this. Adamek vs Banks is another good example. On the other hand the "textbook" fighter can be completely thrown off by the unorthodox style of the opponent, for example Kessler vs Calzaghe/Ward.
Excellent post.
If only you were in NSB more.
Top 3 BScene poster imo.

Lacy, Hopkins, and Jones must have lost their rhythm during the Calzaghe fights LOL...
why are you so defensive over the klit brothers? you keep mentioning them unprovoked. lol!
anyway, i think both of the klits are good. i think vitali is better than wladmir though. with that said both of them are stiff as surf boards. they have their euro style and it works for them.
ok..firt off i dont even like calzage......
second he would probably beat all the super six fighters....
what about wlad and vitali, there great rythem,... and there dominating the division.. or is it causse there white that there not considered good
vitali has ryhthm:wtf:pass that joint 2 me a want some of that shit
.. i always bring up the klitschkos when it comes to white european vs. african american style fighting threads and stuff like this
let me also add: vitali is one of the better heavyweights the division has ever seen. imo, he's undefeated.
to find a heavyweight that would beat vitali, i think you have to go back to prime mike or evander.

eh last time a checked lacy never had ryhthm and hopkins add even more jones had lost their ryhthm in the ring due to age dipshit

Jonathan Banks must have lost his lost his "rhythm" somewhere south of Newark.
Check out 1:35
:rofl::rofl: nice one
Banks is just poppin' off from the mouth.....the dude sounds a lil' bitter about something so don't let that clown start a race war up in our ALREADY hostile jungle here :lol1:....I know what he's gettin at or should I say I know what he means, but at the same time I totally DISAGREE with it....just my 2 pennies :cool2:

Bruce Lee said this long ago, its better to fight in broken rhythm, the unexpected.
floyd himself said he never fights with any rhythm. He said boxers are capable of getting into someone elses rhythm and are prone to start timing shots.
I don't agree at all.
Calzaghe has no rhythm and he was beating black dudes asses left & right.
I don't think anyone is really saying rhythm = superior fighter.
But since you wanna be a wise ass about it then don't forget to mention the fact that it has been black fighters that put Calzaghe on his ass (all three times).
Yes, sometimes I meet stupid with stupid.

How old were they when he was beating them?
Was any of those blacks a pound for pound fight if he wasnt old?
Where was Calzaghe when Roy Jones and James Toney were in their prime?
About this rhythym point, I DO believe that black people have that certain something which is often lacking in others, BUT............ many years ago, I was travelling across Canada by train, (think it took 5 days) and got into various conversations with the sleeper attendants who were all black.
Now I'd been more or less absolutely convinced that black people were all Jazz musicians, since I was deeply into New Orleanz Jazz, and had played with several black musicians who were terrific, with enormous drive, lift, and bounce.
So in these conversations with these guys, I was keen to bring the conversation around to Jazz, Black Jazz. Much to my surprise, I found that not only did these guys NOT play any musical instruments, but they knew practically NOTHING about Jazz, not the great Jazz musicians...........
So......... I consoled myself with the fact that they knew of Sugar Ray Bobinson, and that he was a terrific jazz dancer.

This is not so, there is an error somewhere.
There is a messup somewhere. I now see that my original post is about the 5th one up. It didn't show on my computer. Although it's only a few months old, I have problems withh it. Sorry.
How does one delete posts her, I'd appreciate a private message .
There is nothing typical about Froch. He and pavlik fight completely differently.
I do think there are differences between boxers from different backgrounds, but it is a stretch to put it down to genetics. I mean, there is a lot of simplistic evidence for black athletes being naturally better sprinters than white men, but I don't know about 'rhythm' or brains or anything.
Funnily enough not many black athletes compete in worlds strongest man, but again am reluctant to draw a genetic racial trait from that
