Pacquiao mellows, OKs drug test vs. Mayweather
By NICK GIONGCO May 20, 2010, 4:44pm
Here?s a piece of good news to Floyd Mayweather Jr.As part of efforts to agree on a November 13 fight, Manny Pacquiao said he is amenable to undergo random drug and urine testing 14 days before the fight.?As long as they?re not getting a large amount of blood, I am willing to give out blood as close to two weeks before the fight,? Pacquiao told the Bulletin late Wednesday night during a lull in shooting a Ginebra commercial in Makati.Pacquiao said he will not hesitate to be tested provided that the amount to be taken would be minimal, noted the 31-year-old fighter, gesturing with his pointer and index fingers a measurement equivalent to a short syringe.Pacquiao and Mayweather had agreed in principle to face off but a last-minute demand by Mayweather for Olympic-style testing did not augur well with Pacquiao?s handlers, saying they would not be bullied into accepting his seemingly-outlandish terms.Pacquiao narrated the incident during the first fight with Erik Morales in March 2005 when a large amount was taken from him on the eve of the fight that he eventually lost by unanimous decision.?I felt very weak after they got the blood,? said Pacquiao, motioning with his fingers once again the size of the syringe that was used in extracting blood from his arm.Meanwhile, Pacquiao, has his schedule all figured out: Congress in the daytime and gym in the afternoon.Pacquiao said he can handle the role of being fighter and lawmaker and that ?time management? is the key to getting things done.?I will attend sessions in the morning until afternoon then I go to the gym around 4 or 5 p.m.,? said Pacquiao, who will take his oath as congressman of Sarangani on June 30.?I will stay in the country during training camp then with two weeks before the fight, I will fly to the US,? said Pacquiao, stressing that during his absence, his staff will assume his countless responsibilities. As in previous training camps, there would still be the usual early-morni

well some people just find it hard to accept that pac has become so big in boxing and they found a perfect weapon with this peds issue to put him down.
True again. OSDT is all they got.
Pacquiao agrees to OST up to 14 days before the fight, Really?
What seems to be very strange about this report is, throughout the first negotiations, a 14 day cutoff time frame for the OST, was suggested by Mr. Mayweather but not accepted by Mr. Pacquiao for various reasons. Now that Mr. Mayweather has dominated Mr. Mosley, and Mr. Pacquiao really has no other boxer to fight that is PPV worthy or has generated a high public interest, it's being reported that he's now willing to accept the 14 day cutoff.
I really believe that this is a PR move from Top Rank, so that the fans will continue to go back and forth amongst each other and point fingers at either fighter if the fight isn't made. As a promoter, Mr. Arum knows that the fight is only going to be a historic event if the fans like you and myself keep going back and forth and make the anticipation of the event worth while.
If everyone can read between the lines they will understand these key factors that may play out and have a big affect on the fight not being made:
1. Mr. Arum has stated that this time around, the two parties will be "very cautious", not to negotiate through the media. Why are we getting informed about certain negotiation topics "supposedly"?
2. There has been NO reports of negotiations from either GBP or Mayweather Promotions.
3. If the 14 day cutoff was a problem before, why isn't it a problem now?
4. Mr. Mayweather was asked right after the fight from Larry Merchant (HBO), if there could be a compromise in the testing, can the fight be made, and Mr. Mayweather didn't answer yes to that question but simply said that "if Mr. Pacquiao agrees to the testing they can make the fight happen, and if not then there will be no fight".
5. Mr. Mayweather at this time is the only fighter that has a guarenteed $20 million purse each fight for the next 5 fights. Which makes it more of a benefit for Mr. Pacquiao to try and make this fight happen, because he can only get his guarenteed $6 million purse if he can continue either filling arenas or his PPV numbers can continue exceeding 1m buys.
6. If Mr. Mayweather has made over $30 million for the Mayweather-Marquez fight, has made close to $45 million for the Mayweather-Mosley fight, and as I stated before, that he is guarenteed a $20 million purse each time he laces up. no matter whom the opponent is, why do he really need the fight with Mr. Pacquiao? (I can answer that, he needs it to show everyone that he really can beat Mr. Pacquiao nothing else)
7. Why would Mr. Mayweather agree to a 14 day cutoff now, since Mr. Mosley and Mr. Mayweather took the testing all the way up to the fight? Keep in mind that USADA or WADA, within their procedures will not cutoff testing within a 14 day time frame, so that an athlete can "make sure that they are not weak" before a sports event. If they did that, then it would defeat the purpose of possibly catching either participant using illegal substances.
Again, I really do believe that this is a PR stunt from Top Rank. I would love to see this fight happen like everyone else, but I don't believe that it's going to happen based on the factors that stopped negotiations earlier this year. I just can't see both parties bowing down to each other, and making this event happen. Hopefully I'm wrong.:boxing:
Everyone have a nice day!!!!!
True. It's sad they seem to have nothing except this OSDT.
It's still not enough that Floyd is bigger, slicker, has longer reach, faster, 41 wins, no lost...
They've been exposed, actually.

Shit from a guy giving into a paranoid slandering idiot who has never asked anyone before him. Any compromise should be if you want this fight to happen.
Remember when Manny was too weak to be tested within 30 days? Praise him for finding the strength!
The crucial mistake the Floyd fans are making in this thread - and its embarassing them to no end (though they're so blinded they don't know it)- is that they are acting as though Pac fans are contradicting themselves by originally supporting Manny's 30 day window and their current support (if the story is true) of his agreeing to 14 days. It's not a contradiction at all. FACT: Manny never had to take the tests and has the right not to; USADA isn't a boxing commission and Manny has world titles in 7 divisions - and Floyd 5 - without USADA. The fact that he is trying to ease his stance to make the fight happen should be - and will be - commended by all boxing fans who are not currently swinging from Floyd's nutsack
True, the ball is on Floyds court now.
Aww, it's praiseworthy. Anything to prostrate in front of Manny, right? :lol1:

ahh peds threads...the best venue for haters to bash pac. this is one topic where you can truly criticize pac. before the blood testing demand from floyd there's really not a lot of things you can do to put down pac's success as a fighter. but this peds issue has open a big window for the haters to tarnish pac's success and reputation and so they swarm each and every peds thread. in a way pac is also to blame for his failure to handle the situation well...now there's is no good option left for him but to take the ost. if he is clean or not we'll never know until he takes the test. until then, haters will relish each moment they can to make this peds issue afloat in nsb.

I've been liking all three of these fighters for a while now...u mad?
I explained it before. Just willing to take the blood test is praise worthy, making even bigger compromises is more so. Pac is sticking his face out, all floyd gotta do is swing.

That's an understatement!

F*ckouttahere with your lil homosexual fantasies. Go find some other dude you can look at "exposed."
Hey Ali, what's Manny gonna have you do next? Man, I remember when you fought so hard for Manny's 30 day request. So hard... :lol1:

You've demonstrated throughout this entire thread that you are nothing more, nothing less.... than Leonard Ellerbe.
Alex Ariza...what are you giving Manny?

Lol just messin with you. I'm actually a big fan of Devon and don't mind Ward or Floyd too, it's just funny that the 3 guys you are repping are all unbeaten black Americans.

Not even that bro... I sorta use to take him a little seriously but I knew the hulking flomo was somewhere inside of him raring to spit profanities and exude hate. Bingo!!! Today is a monumental day in Flomo history, the chosen one is a Flomo.
Good for you. You digging into me???... sheeeeee... All this while I thought you were getting the point.... I guess we gotta expose you a little bit more.
