actually does fight the best fighters in the world every time they get into the ring...Alternatively, who are the biggest DUCKERS in the sport
I would say the Klitschko brothers, Miguel Cotto, and maybe Paul Williams (if he were to fight Dzinziruk) to the former...and as far as fighters who "duck" other fighters, I would say most guys have, at least once, perhaps optioned to pass on a fight with a certain fighter for whatever reason
Bernard Dunne did his best
Agreed. A lesser man would have avoided Poonsawat and Cordoba like the plague (and many did), but Dunne showed his courage in facing him.
Floyd has ducked fighting the best since he moved up to welterweight...because that's when it became about the biggest payday for him...I believe that if Margarito, Cotto, Williams, or anyone else that he "ducked", had brought as much money to the table as a fight with De La Hoya, Hatton, or Marquez did, he would have fought those guys too
Koki Kameda fought the #2 ranked flyweight in Naito (won) and then the #1 ranked flyweight in Wonjongkam (lost) all within the span of 3 months. He talks a ton of smack, but as you can see he backs it up with fighting the best.
pacman has taken on all comers to b fair to him, hatton didnt duck nobody but had frank warren as his promoter. frank MAKES you duck people because youre a business asset to him, not a career fighter. sugar shane doesnt, cotto doesnt. floyd does tho lol
For better or worse, Michael Katsidis always seems to take on the best fight available to him. He doesn't seem like the type to duck a man, either. He's fought Jesus Chavez, Vicente Escobedo, Joel Casamayor, Juan Diaz and Kevin Mitchell. Now, he's calling out Juan Manuel Marquez or Diaz for the rematch and he seem's to genuinely hope for the best fights.
Also, he was about two rounds away from the TRUE Lightweight champion before he got reckless against Casa.
Also, Bradley was on a solid streak, as well. However, with Maidana pulling out and his reluctance to fight Devon Alexander, you could make an argument that he's not on this list anymore. However, he doesn't seem to fear Devon, he just seems to want more money for the fight.
Cotto, as you mentioned. Williams could also make this list. Also, all the guys in the Super 6 deserve some credit, as well.
In terms of duckers... I hate the term as we don't know the inner-workings of contract disputes, negotiations and/or what's fiscally at risk. Nonetheless, Pavlik has seemed to take the easier route. Even before his fight with Hopkins. They picked Hopkins hoping he was a shell of his former self and could pick off a name. Since then, it's been even worse. By the time he got to Martinez, he seemed to be hoping for the easier fight out of Williams and Martinez. Didn't work out well.
Andre Berto has moved up well enough, but doesn't seem eager to mix it up with the big dogs. Then again, the big dogs in or around his weight are Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao and all he has to do is wait a few years and those guys are gone. So, in a way, it's understandable for a young fighter in his position.
