No doubt about it. Michael Buffer is washed up. I'd like him to retire. In recent times, it has become quite apparent to me, just how much better of an announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. is.
Buffer's up and down announcing of names is very amateurish. Jimmy, on the other hand, doesn't sound like a strangled cat when announcing names and does it much more consistently.
Buffer is living off his catchphrase, image and days gone by. There just isn't much quality to his announcing anymore.

Anyone who is a real boxing fan and respects the sport understands it's Lennon > Buffer all day every day.
Jimmy Lennon Sr. was the best though, his voice just makes you think of boxing. The worst is Buffer's brother that does the UFC fights, he's terrible because he doesn't do anything but make this fake voice.
Being a top ring announcer must be awesome.
You just talk and read from a card, get front row seats, are paid pretty well and just hang around with ring card girls. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Lucky Bastards.
It's tough to come up with these classic tag lines though, as well as the delivery. They deserve what they get.

Yeah, he's cool. I like how he pronounces "Maidana" and "Argentina" properly. :D
"Ahora Veremos, Quien Es El Mas Macho!" = Awesome Tagline.
For english Announcing though, I'm torn between the two (Lennon and Buffer).
I like this guy:

has anyone noticed that buffer is getting a bit more vocal these days...he used to stick to the script...but now he's all over the place...dude gets paid stacks...i think he's kind of feeling himself...at the mayweather/mosley weigh-in, he was talking about paydays...bofore bouts, he says a little off key banter to get the crowds attention...maybe i'm overanalyzing...but buffer has changed in the past year...still top dog in the announcing game, tho...his brother is the absolute worst...i'd like to see his other brother in action...i hear he does rodeos or some shit...
I don't like how Buffer enuciates the names. I'd prefer that they go back to the old days when they just said the hometown and the name simply. Not the record, nickname, mothers maiden name and preferred drink of choice.
lupe contreras isnt as naturally gifted, but he brings it every fight. his style is more entertaining though. highly underrated. he'd make my top 3 p4p.
Jimmy Lennon Jr is fuggin ace, but Buffer is the king.
His brother Bruce Buffer who does the UFC though, oh my god what a clown, that guy is like a little kid, jumping around in the ring and screaming. The guy has absolutely no class and his announcing style personifies UFC
Theres one sky sports MC he is so bad, he kinda puts a roar into the mike when announcing a fighter "Audley HARRAWWRSON, but theres one good Sky Sports MC dont know what there names are
