I tell this to my friends all the time. Because unlike most fans of either fighter, I see situations on how both fighters can win the fight.
If Mayweather isn't out of there early, like Hatton style (which I find hard to imagine)then Floyd will as usual adjust and dominate, punishing Floyd, opening up his defensive guard at will to tag Pacquiao with stiff jabs and straight rights.
Pacquiao can however throw combos, So Floyd will have to guard tight, to endure a little punches as possible.
I pick Floyd to win UD.....and I think Manny can't KO Floyd to be honest so no...I don't think he has just 4 rounds to beat Mayweather. I think his best chance is staying busy....trying to win the first 3-4 rounds clearly...get the crowd going and then just stay busy. We know Vegas judges..they don't like counter punches as much as guys who come forward, see De La Hoya Vs Mayweather (Mayweather clearly won but got a SD???), Hopkins Vs Calzaghe (many had BHop winning) and Pacquiao Vs JMM 1 and 2 (very close fight but Pacquiao won because he was busy and coming forward)....so if he wins first 3-4 rounds clearly...then stays busy and gets the crowd going...this is his only chance IMO.
The smarter fighter will win this one.
They both know what the other is capable of doing..
It comes down to taking the other opponents style away.what we do know is Pac settles his feet to throw..and has to have room to throw his punches..Floyd is probably aware of this and will do that..Roach's gameplan probably consist of just staying on the attack with pressure..also, I may be wrong..but I don't think Pac can fight stepping back..Floyd should win this easy.
maybe floyd will hit pac some solid punches..
and maybe pac may feel those precise heavy blows..
but don't tell me that pac won' hit floyd..
and don't tell me that pac can't hurt floyd,..
maybe floyd's ring IQ is slightly smarter than pac's..
but pac being awkward, its gonna be a puzzle for floyd...
i don't think its an easy win for floyd,it could go either way...
my gutz tell me that pac's going to surprise us once again....
No! Mayweather can be ahead 11-0 in rounds and get KO in the 12th round by Manny because i believe manny has the workrate and stamina to sustain a 12 round assault even when losing.
Damn I'm glad that a Floyd fan like this can keep it real. Everyone including Floyd himself, knows that Manny will be his toughest test. The way some of you guys break things down, makes me believe that you guys think Manny is nothing more than a fast paced brawler which couldn't be further from the truth. If the fight was percieved to be a one-sided affair, why should they even fight and why are most of you guys calling it one of the best fight in the past 30 years etc...?
Because its a very prestigous Match-up.
P4P 1 and 2 both Prime WW's.
However its still a mismatch. This wont be a hardfight all trolling aside. Thats not a knck on Pac its just a testament to how good Floyd is.
There are other ways of winning a decision too.
Outweighing him and muscling him on along the ropes? Don't think Manny has the style to employ that game plan.

I'm guilty of that.

Mayweather will be Manny's toughest test of his life. But just looking at the styles, Mayweather is all wrong for Manny. But that doesn't stop me from wanting to see the fight.
no, manny will pressure pbf for 12 rds, and throw 1k plus punches. he will hit floyd all over, arms, shoulders, etc, andx will pile up points, and will douuble pbf's output....possibly.....he can win a ud as well, or maybe he will get pbf out of there? maybe floyd will dictate the fight and make manny fight in a manner condusive to pbf? who knows, that's why this fight must happen!
I highly doubt this. His punch output will be the lowest its been in a while.
But JMM and Mayweather fight nothing alike, I've never understood this argument. Yes, they both counter punch, but the way they counter punch is completely different.
Marquez, despite his counter punching abilities, was a warrior. He went to war with Pacquiao with counter punching as his main weapon. He didn't mind for the most part getting hit by Pac because he was confident in his counter punching being able to back Pac off, and he threw those counter punches in combos that hurt Pac.
Mayweather looks to counter punch off of his opponent missing, and tries to create those opportunities with his defense, throwing single shots at a time. It's completely different.
PBF can use many many styles, and he may even make you hesitate to attack and control the tempo of the fght...
What I mean is he has better skills in any style you can think of, and in JMM fighting style that gave problems to PAC,PBF can execute way better than JMM, the blueprint is there.
I don't think so. The main issue is actually following up on Floyd Mayweather; after landing a big shot. I haven't seen anyone able to do that, so I can't see Pacquiao stopping Mayweather, especially considering Mayweather's good defense. I actually think Pacquiao can win a S.D or a U.D, so I disagree in that Pacquiao only has a certain amount of time to beat Floyd.

IMO it's worst for PAC in many many ways than the JMM fights...the style has proven to be effective against PAC and PBF will do it 10 times better...

These 2 are critical for Pac beating Floyd.
First, if Pac able to walk through Floyd's punches. Pac will lovely get tagged by one in a exchange of two or three of his own.
Second, if Pac able to hurt Floyd with his punches then the danger of knocking down or knocking out Floyd will be there from round 1 to 12.
Anyway, this is the fight Pac could lose.

I often make the same arguement,
However the pac that fought JMM and current Pacquiao is a whole nother beast...

Hatton had Pacquiao fighting going backwards, and he obliterated him. Pacquiao would never dance, if that's what you mean.
Wow...really?
You need to rewatch that fight..
The two times Hatton TRIED to back up Pac..he wasn't controlling the fight..each time he would have to step a few and plant his feet..his feet have to be planted.

Pac fights backwards just fine. That means his opponent is moving forward, and Pac loves when his opponent moves forward.
Floyd is on another level on ring smarts.
If anyone falls into a trap, it will be Pac. Even Cotto all messed up touched his face enough to cause some damage, Floyd will hit him even more, at will, when least expected.
I've got Floyd in a tough decision after a rough 4-5 first rounds, after that he will see the pattern in Pac.
