As great athletes and competitors know, you can't hang your head too much on a loss. And after his hard-fought defeat against Manny Pacquiao, Puerto Rico's biggest boxing star Miguel Cotto is taking the same approach.
"The loss happened on November 13. Two or three months is more than enough. We're still walking you know," Cotto told the media during the press conference at Yankee stadium announcing his fight against Yuri Foreman on June 5. "For me, the Pacquiao fight is in my past."
To help him move forward with his career after the tough loss to Pacquiao, Cotto hooked up with Hall of Fame trainer Emmanuel Steward who has train the best from Hearns, Dela Hoya and Klitschko and so far the tandem is making strides. "We have good chemistry," Cotto revealed.
Cotto has a tall order ahead of him as big time boxing returns to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, NY after 37 long years. He is giving up a lot in height and in size against the WBA World light middleweight title champion Foreman, but one thing Cotto will not be lacking in is power and experience. He has been in several big fights against better opponents compared to his Israeli counterpart.
The main question coming into this bout however is how Cotto has recovered from his punishing losses from Pacquiao and Margarito and even the tough outing he had against Joshua Clottey that ended in a split decision victory for him. Cotto has been in several wars in the last two years, and this fight should indicate what future he still has in the sport.

We'll know if the first 2 rounds if Cotto has his head right after the Pacquiao beatdown. I like Cotto but he folded like a deck of cards against Pacquiao. If he loses to Foreman, he needs to retire. If he wins, he has to look good doing it and win impressively by KO and before 6 rounds, in order to get another big time fight. Foreman could be a tough fight for him, we'll see.
