By Ronald C Charles: During an interview with CBS radio Floyd Mayweather was asked about the particulars of a possible Pacquiao bout. Due to legal implications Mayweather stated he could not discuss the finer details of pre fight drug testing, but did say Drug testing by (Anti-Doping Agency) is non-negotiable, if Pacquiao does not take the test, there will be no fight.
“I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken because, frankly, I don't know anyone who really does. But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring” Mayweather told ESPN.
When pressed further on the finer details Mayweather would not comment on earlier reports that suggested he was demanding a 60/40 split in his favour. However, he did specify his desire to be second into the ring on the night, a privilege usually reserved for the belt holder. Mayweather’s last fight against Shane Mosley he refused to pay the WBA sanctioning fees and no belt was on the line.
Mayweather was informed it’s Manny Pacquiao who currently holds the WBO welterweight title and in customary fashion, it’s the title holder whom makes their way to the ring last, Mayweather replied “I’m not interested in any title, do I want the fight? Yes, do I want the title? No.
The indication from Mayweather's comments would suggest he is open to negotiating ring and glove size, but stood steadfast as stating testing by the Anti-Doping Agency is non-negotiable.
“In my last fight with Mosley for the first time in the sports history, the world knew for sure both fighters were clean and on a level playing field, allowing the best man to prevail”.
“The sport of boxing is a dangerous sport where fighters have lost their life’s and family’s ruined, to put down a man who is trying to do the right thing does not make sense, most critics have probably never competed in the ring.” Said Mayweather
“If you ask fighters 99 percent of them would agree to the testing, it’s only human nature to question the motives of the 1 percent who refuse.

I agree, That doesnt make sense.
I didnt see anything wrong with him requesting OSDT.
At the end of the day it's something that can only improve the sport.
If Floyd really want to clean the sport. Volunter to be randomly tested whole year round like the Olympic ahtletes not by just 2 months when you know you are not going to be tested by the next 2-6 months depends when is your next fight. You can take any shit you want in this time period and still comes up clean during the 2 months of OST. We doesn't even know that Floyd might roiding right now or any other boxers.
How was it a pussy move if you had suspicion that he was using steroids?

it was a pussy move to ask for the OST in the beginning but since many is heavily refusing it it does make him suspicious. there has not been a single fighter when asked about having to do OST who said he wouldn't.

I don't understand why pay to carry a belt that really means shit. If anything the sanctioning bodies should be paying the fighters to carry their crappy ass belt.
And you wonder why there aren't that many mega fights anymore like we had in the golden days. They need to get rid of all these ABC's belts, and then we'll see more hungrier competitive fights..
I think Floyd has no interest in having to defend the belt, because he would likely vacant it if he's force to fight a Margarito or someone that inspires him fear.
GSP says he’s in support of Olympic-style drug testing
In an interview Monday, St. Pierre admitted his belief that performance-enhancing drugs are prevalent in MMA and added he's in favor of mandatory blood tests in combat sports.
"I stand for that more than anybody else," St. Pierre said. "I just hope it will happen soon because I know a lot of people cheat in this sport, and it's unacceptable. I am all for random blood testing. Nobody in the UFC agrees on that more than me."
St. Pierre declined to provide names of specific fighters using banned substances but was clear in his belief that some are getting away with it.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission currently requires fighters to undergo urine tests whereas the USADA Olympic-style method requires random blood tests be taken before and after an event.
The issue has taken center stage in boxing, as it was the main reason negotiations for a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao broke down last December. Mayweather eventually accepted a fight with Shane Mosley where both fighters volunteered to undergo random blood tests.
The NSAC is scheduled to review its protocol on drug testing during a public meeting Wednesday and St. Pierre, for one, is hoping major changes are not far away.
"What I'm saying is, I just hope it's going to happen soon," St. Pierre said. "I don't know who is using it and I'm not going to say names, but I want it to happen.
"What makes a good fighter is a lot of things: genetics, style, skills, heart. But now, there's another factor that influences a fight and that's the team of doctors behind the fighter. This should not be an element that helps a fighter."
The issue was brought up when Josh Koscheck, fellow UFC welterweight and opposing coach to St. Pierre on the upcoming season of the reality series "The Ultimate Fighter," said he's heard from different sources that St. Pierre has used illegal substances.
The two fighters are in Las Vegas for the next six weeks to film the reality series and are scheduled to face one another in December.
"From what I've heard from other fighters in other camps, yeah, (St. Pierre) has done steroids," Koscheck said. "That's just speculation, but it's a possibility. The guy is pretty ripped all year."
Koscheck went on to say he wouldn't be against setting up Olympic-style drug testing for their December fight, although he didn't know how St. Pierre would react to that kind of proposal.
That's when St. Pierre made it clear he was up for it.
"I have no problem — any time he wants," St. Pierre said. "I'm not a coward and somebody that uses steroids is a cheater. I am not afraid of Josh Koscheck and I don't have to cheat to beat him."

Why do you think he only started mentioning this until recently.. the biggest flip flopper in boxing history "we fighting for legacy... no we not fighting for legacy, we fighting for money... no, we fighting for legacy.. no, money"
he obviously didn't mind paying a minimal sanctioning fee before in all of his other fights, he's gonna mind now? I wonder why.. hahhaa
Get your facts straight is you're going to talk shit, lol.
Floyd and the majority of fans only care about the WBC belt. I could care less about the other cheap ass belts, ABC organizations, etc. Floyd has said plenty of times he only cares about the WBC belts.
Why would you pay an organization for a belt you don't care about and a belt fans don't care about?
Floyd winning the belts from Mosley and Pacquiao don't mean shit to his legacy or resume.

I believe there is a problem with performance-enhancing drugs in boxing and I’m sure we’ve all watched a number of fights in which one, or both, of the athletes were chemically enhanced. I always assume that for every fighter who is caught, there are more who got away with it. State athletic commissions don’t have the budgets to do the kind of testing that would prevent abuse. Nevada is one of the leaders in this area and it will occasionally administer an out-of-competition test, which does have a deterrent effect. The state, though, is in the midst of a fiscal crisis and doesn’t have the money to spend to expand the program to become more vigilant. The bottom line, regardless of what happens with a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, is that PED usage in the sport needs to be controlled.
No point for a refusal
I loved your piece that revealed the drug testing dates for Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley. I feel it shows that Manny holds no water to his demands. If Manny had to cut weight to fight Floyd, he would have a point. But there are runners, bike riders and all type of other athletes who have went on record to say that they gave blood and still performed at a top level that day or the day after. Something in me says Manny may be doing something that is not right.

You arent making any sense.
What do you mean you wonder why? He doesnt want to pay the sanctiong fee. Thats out his own mouth.
Why give up money out of your purse for a belt you dont give a shit about?

Just like he didn't care for Mosley 's WBA belt. honestly i couldn't care less as long as he fights Pacquiao. Belts don't make champs, beating Pacquiao is better than any belt in the world( Berto's WBC title,... ).
P4P title >> WBA+WBC+ WBO + IBF belt.
Then the poor dude is really broke because if he had "Money" like his monicure claims.. he wouldn't be worried about a sanctioning fee :lol1:

No genius he doesnt want to pay the sanctioning fee.

He doesn't want the title because he knows it has leverage over him if they fight for it.
&& he doesn't want Pacquiao having that leverage.
Regardless, Pacquiao is the champ and P4P number 1 so he should be the second man out when it comes to the ring walk.
No genius he doesnt want to pay the sanctioning fee.
