The beat down Paulie took yesterday is probably enough to take him out of the 6th spot a lot of people would have let him occupy for a 140 tourny. So who would you now put in his place?
This is assuming that you are of the general opinion that the other 5 consist of: Bradley, Alexander, Khan, Ortiz, Maidana. (it's hard to see how anyone would have any others!)
The likes of Campbell and Hatton, Marquez are too old and Pacman is a welterweight and wouldn't compete in it anyway so disregard them.
So, which fighter fills that 6th spot if a 140 tourny was arranged?
I think I'm swaying towards Peterson.
When the super six was made, the only two top 168 pounders were Froch and Kessler.
Taylor had been KO'ed by Froch in his last fight.
Abraham was coming up from 160 and had never fought at 168.
The two Andre's were still considered green and rather untested prospects.
There's no guarantee that all the top dogs will be in the tournament. I wouldn't be surprised if the tournament consists of something like Kotelnik, Ortiz, Alexander, Maidana, Soto, and Alvarado.

It would have to be Peterson I think. If not him, someone with experience and who's been active.
yeah, zab would be the jermain taylor of the 140 super 6!......:friday:
That's what I'd be wary of. If Zab would see it through he'd be a great addition to it.
If Zab Judah looks decent enough in his tune up put him in. It'll put a big enough name in the tourny and give us the arrogant trash talking personalites we love so meuch in boxing.
Zab & Ortiz can be added in, making sure the top-4
(Bradley, Alexander, Khan & Maidana)
makes it in the semis... very clever move it will be,
for the promoters...
im not so sure that khan can take zabs or victors punch and im not sure if maidana can repeat his win over ortiz again.

if zab can make the weight why not? he would bring some name recognition to the casual boxing fans and bring in more viewers to watch the tournament
Zab's a decent shout. The only problem is would he be committed to it? If he lost his first fight would he drop out?
You know I'm not sure Victor Ortiz belongs there. What I saw last night was very disappointing. I saw a young fighter in against a 38 year old man that couldn't get punches off and had no legs. Victor Ortiz looks like a guy who is "mentally shot" from that Maidana beatdown. I was listening to the Leave it in the ring post-fight show and I agree with what they were saying on it. Victor doesn't have the confidence and looks gun shy. Maybe this win might bring back the old and true "vicious" Ortiz, but I am not so sure.
If there is a tourney, Victor Ortiz does not belong in there.
he sure does and he'd have a good chance of winning it too.
i'd go with peterson or mike alvarado (if he's still campaigning at 140)
