Khan would be able to get a round or two by outboxing Cotto. Until about round 3 or 4 when Cotto lands a nuclear bomb which puts Khan to sleep. Forever.
I think some of you guys are confusing that version of Cotto. That version was not the same version of Cotto that fought Pinto, Abdulaev, is not the same Cotto that fought Bailey, nor the same that fought Quintana at 147. He was just so weak trying to make weight at that time.
I agree that was the weakest, unhealthiest, most weight drained version of Cotto seen in his career.
He still destroys Khan. Hard.
Stoppage in the middle rounds. Think Quintana, Jennings.
He did, and he could ended early that is a possibility high possibility. But, the when a fighter is weight drained they get weaker and weaker the deeper the fight goes. If Khan can take him deep, I can see with his size, reach, speed, and jab taking over the fight. But, I again he would have to take him deep which won't be easy.
Cotto hits too hard at that weight. And hes a much better boxer than Khan is. I just see no way he wins at that weight. Cottos timing, pressure, speed , jab and left hook does damage in this fight.

You're right, that's why I said that Khan's best chance would be to bumrush him early. That Cotto might not be able to stand up to Khan's best shots.
But he better get him early before Cotto gets a chance to connect because once he does it'd be curtains for Khan.
He still hit like a truck at that weight. Khan gets destroyed IMO. Paulie had a great chin and at all but Cotto did break his jaw.

Given what we have seen from Khan I think its fair to say that this fight would end up looking like the Quintana fight. Except that the KO would come from a head shot not a body shot.
Paulie was a nice matchup for Khan. I don't think we'll see Khan in with a real threat or a real puncher for another 2-3 years. I see a few Paulie and Nate type of solid fighters or past it fighters for the near future.

cotto wasnt at his best that is true but he was nailing paulie with big thudding shots all night i dont think amir would take those punches well at all. khan would have moments though because of his speed and boxing ability and because the fact that cotto clearly was hurting himself fighting at 140 when he should have been at 147

That version of Cotto was not a top Cotto. Hell the Cotto that Pac fought is better than that version of Cotto that Malignaggi fought.
People forget how weak and weight drained that Cotto was.
The longer the fight last the better Khan would do. If he can take Cotto deep, Cotto would be so drained and weak that Khan could win a decision.
But, he has to take him deep.
Totally agree, cant wait for this fight man

Khan 23 vs Cotto though tbf.
I dont even think Cotto was in his full prime when he fought Malignaggi.
I'd say its within the fights he had with Zab, Mosley, and Margarito.
Either maybe the only way Khan beats him is if he moves up to WW and Cotto's hangin on his last string.
