if they would of meet im talking about the prime chavez of the 80's and early 90's who do you think would of won the fight.in a interview floyd said that a fight with chavez would of been a fight for the ages a legandary fight.lets remeebr the fight floyd alsmot lost against jl castillo castillo had a similar style like chavez but chavez was way faster, stronger, tougher. So i think chavez would beat floyd at either 135 or 140.i like floyd and im a big fan of him but i think chavez's style is the style that would of beaten floyd.Today there is No1 that can beat the money man.but what do you guys think who would of won this dream match???
the 2nd fight against roger roger was dominating chavez for the first 3 rounds with his jab and movment and good defense but chavez was at his peak and the presure made roger sit in his stool and not come out giving a NO MAS.chavez couldnt presure the same way sweat pea because he was to slow and tired he didnt had the hunger anymore.this fight should of had hapend before than 93 it should of hapend right after julio beat taylor and after he unified the titles at 140 he should gone to 147 if this fight would of hapend in late 1990 or 1991 sweat pea would of ended teh same way roger did in the 2nd fight
i think the punishment to floyds body would be the outcome. Chavez was an animal with a granite chin who took punches as they came. i understand floyd has great defense but chavez knew when and how to throw the hooks to the body with power and u got to remember that he had power with both hands.
Great fantasy match up though!!!:boxing:
It really isn't difficult to spot a newb in this thread.Pernell Whitaker caught a washed up Chavez at the right time.Chavez was the complete package at his peak.He could fight as effectively on the outside as he could on the inside.
by the time Whitaker caught Chavez,Chavez no longer had the same workrate that he had at his peak.He was nowhere near as effective as cutting of the ring as he could in his peak.He became alot slower and alot more predictable by the early to mid 90's.
As talented as Mayweather is,he's also doesn't have a pair of balls.Which is why he would never sign up for such a fight in the first place.
Floyd got beat by a Chavez sparring partner.
Imagine Floyd going up against the real thing.
Yes, I said imagine, because we'd have to deal with all the excuses as to why Chavez wouldn't be a good enough opponent.
even on the camacho fight chavez already looked slow and tired even thoe he won the taylor fight started to slow down chavez just not as dramaticvally as meldrick
Floyd would do much of the same thing Whitaker did, just not as convincingly, and win the decision.
read the post better i said the chavez of the 80's and early 90's by the time chavez fought pernell he was already a drunk and a cocaine sniffer we all know that if chavez wouldnt had fall on those stupid things chavez would of beat both pernell and de la hoya those 2 were lucky they got a chavez that had slown down big time
Chavez might have been the greater fighter but this is a bad matchup. Floyd frustrates him the same way Whitaker did.
EDIT: On further consideration, if this is pre-Castillo Mayweather, Chavez wins. Post-Castillo, Mayweather wins.
Hard to tell because I don't believe Mayweather ever fought anybody at Chavez's level. I'm counting the older fighters and the ones he made move up in weight.
This one is hard. Floyd had a tough time with Castillo at 135 and everyone knows Chavez is 10x times better, but I don't know about 140, because if Taylor wouldn't brawled with Chavez like he did he would've won without being cheated by Steele at the end. Anyway, Pernell did beat Chavez and I put Floyd at the same level as him but that was at a catchweight(I think). I pick Chavez to win a close SD or MD, then Floyd figures him out and beat him twice on a trilogy.
would mayweather even take the fight ?
he ducked cotto, margarito , pacquiao
had to wait for shane to get old ...
he didnt even beat the best of this era
manny ducked all fighters at their prime he took on the washed up big names shot fighters didnt manny ducked mosley last year cuz they wanted him at 143?//////////////////////////////////////////////
you haven't watched enough prime chavez bro. jcc would squash castillo like a bug. if castillo could give floyd a hard night, jcc would give him the fight of his life.
Castillo and JCC use to spar together.
Castillo is a poor man version of JCC.
Floyd would win this one easy guys.
It's not even a contest, floyd would shut HIM OUT

Meh, I think Chavez would win. I wouldn't say Floyd would get brutally knocked out. People who hate Floyd say that. I think if Chavez were to win it would be by decision. I think it would be alot like the Camacho fight, except I think Floyd's defense in the pocket would prove real tough for Chavez unlike Camacho's defense. Camacho was just about bullied around, i don't think Chavez could do that to Floyd.
I would give Chavez the slight decision but in all honesty it could probably go either way. If they were to really fight, you just can't underestimate Floyd.
i think chavez would either win a close decision or tko floyd. he'd drop a lot of early rounds but, as usual, keep moving forward until he starts doing some real damage.
on the other hand, i don't think it'd be upset of the century if floyd did win. if anyone can handle jcc's pressure in the late rounds it'd be mayweather
