I say if he wants it, they should fight next week, no TV's, no worries about tickets, just find a venue, a sanctioned ref and judges and get it on. Both are still in fighting shape and Williams should take it on the condition that Cintron gives him half of the payday he received for last saturday's 3 round fight. Some extra money for P.Will
CINTRON WANTS REMATCH "VERY QUICKLY"
By Editor
With Kermit Cintron in an ambulance still strapped onto the stretcher that carried him off HBO's airwaves this evening, Boxing**** received a call from Cintron's advisor/attorney Josh Dubin. "Kermit had the wind knocked out him because he fell on his back. He wanted to continue and would have been able to do so within the five minute time frame that he should have been afforded to recover," said Dubin who also informed Boxing**** that the gentleman with his hand on Cintron's neck the whole time he was on the floor was the ringside physician. Dubin made it crystal clear that he will fight with every "fiber of his being" to get the decision overturned to a no-contest, something he was successful in achieving on behalf of Nate Campbell. Dubin also stated that "The judge who scored every round for Williams should never be allowed to judge another fight. If Williams can walk away feeling like the winner, he's not the fighter we thought he was. Kermit wants a rematch and could will be ready for it very quickly."
UPDATE: CINTRON HAS ALREADY BEEN RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL (1:28 AM ET)
Or they can make it a Lumberjack match, with Margarito as the lone lumberjack enforcer. That'll keep Cintron in check.
they should make it a tag-team, steel cage death match...
Pwill & Margacheato
VS
Sergio & Kermit
Kermit would squeal like a lil b!tch if the fight started off with him vs margacheato....
or sergio would go to tag in kermit only to find him digging at the apron, trying to get the fukk outta there
Well considering the Booo-birds that were coming from the crowd during the fight, the comment from Merchant that two east-coast fighters are fighting in the West without much of a following in the East or West, the crap ending of the fight, and the fact that both get to keep their purse money for three uneventful rounds.
I say the stock (or calibre as you put it) for that fight has plummeted even lower, for anybody to give them another payday that goes along with "Proper promotion".
You're right, it has plummeted. However I don't see the fighters or promoters being willing to allow a fight between two big-ish names that holds a high risk factor for both happen with no proper reward in place. It just won't happen. Who the hell is gonna put so much on the line for so little reward?
I hate to say it but we'll probably see Williams move onwards and upwards with his career and just brush this travesty under the rug. Cintron will probably spend the rest of his non-HBO-televised days campaigning for a rematch that never comes.
ok, but it's gotta be a steel cage match. we don't want cintron jumping out of the ring again.
can we make it a death-match so we can get rid of cintron for good?? Pretty pretty please :firedevil
I'd like to see a rematch. They have unfinished business as far as I'm concerned - that split technical decision is bullshit on every level.
The problem is finding a HBO date; I doubt they will be willing to shell out for a rematch to top a bill, so it'd probably have to be slotted on some undercard somewhere. And Williams is probably a bit above that at this point. I doubt he'd be willing to fight on some undercard for not much money or recognition against an awkward opponent who he already officially holds a win over.
Overall this whole thing just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Unsatisfying finish, unsatisfying result (no way did Williams win every round or even the majority of those three and a half), and to make matters worse we may be left wanting for a rematch. Shit sucks and I'm pissed off I stayed up until 4:30AM to catch that nonsense, might've been better if that farce of a fight had never even happened - no one came out of that situation looking good.
i agree.
i don't think cintron deserves a rematch though. people are not holding him accountable for his actions and that sucks.
I know,
and that's why I suggested not worrying about that and just focusing on doing this rematch independently without waisting time on long training camps or looking for TV dates. Just do this rematch ASAP for the sake of having the match without any excuses. Both are still in fighting shape from last training camp so no need for another one.
In an ideal world that might be an option, but these guys are making careers here. Pride is a factor but it takes a back seat to the real motivators like fame and fortune. No way does a fight of the calibre of Williams v Cintron II go ahead with no TV date or good venue or proper promotion.

This is how Kermit wants to win his fights. Legal Battles, jumping out of the ring, crying, protesting to the ref that he was butted even though we saw him get punched, etc...
He should be forced to rematch Angulo for his next fight.
I'm not trippin'.
I'm on The Punisher's side and I don't want Cintron whining & complaining on the sidelines. So Williams should just shut him up quickly, no promotion, no long training camps waisting time on Cintron. Fight him ASAP like the first fight didn't even happen, kick his ass and take half of his purse money that he received from HBO last week.
If Cintron doesn't agree to that, he looks like a punk and it's the end of story.
Everyone knows that shit will never happen, at least not the way you are suggesting it.
Of course but i'm saying, since Cintron wants this rematch quickly and technically they're still both in fighting shape and have barely broken a sweat on saturday, Pwill should offer to fight him next week with the condition that Cintron give up half of the purse money he received for their last fight. NO OTHER MONEY WILL BE ON STAKE FOR THE REMATCH.
They shouldn't worry about televising it, about ticket sales, nothing. Just rent out a venue, get a sanctioned ref and 3 judges and have the rematch quietly to settle this. Like it's a untelevised, undercard type fight.
lol u trippin'
