Randy Couture dicusses his fight with James Toney

I see it like this...If Toney goes in there and competes, whether he wins or loses, it's a good look for boxing because he took that risk at going at one of the greatest UFC Fighters ever. Couture is probably Toney's safest fight for his intro but let's be real. You will never see the best or even a mid-level UFC Fighter go to boxing and fight someone like Roy Jones Jr, Antonio Tarver, Jermaine Taylor or even Jeff Lacy in their first ever boxing match. There's no way Dana White will let that happen to any of his fighters. If(that's a big IF) Toney can keep the fight on their feet he has a great chance, but this doesn't look bad for boxing at all. There is a video of Chuck Lidells entrances and everytime they say "wow look at Chuck Liddell's stare hes back or some shit"

This fight is complete garbage. the UFC can produce some really interesting and exciting match ups, but it also has a tendency to recycle its fighters for as long as it can. Did anyone see when Couture fought Coleman? Coleman is a ****en dinasour and Rogan had the audacity to say that he had never trained correct his entire career and finally did for this fight!!!! Another example is when Hughes fought one of the Gracie brothers and Hughes carried him the entire fight. This is just an excuse for White to have another PPV, the UFC seems to have one every other week.

have any of you guys even watched couture in his last performances? -brock excluded ( where for the record he tried to box against ) -he tried to box big nog and was rocked , -he was a bit more wrestly against vera, tho more just pushing him up to the cage and dirty boxing. -and again he stood with coleman and boxed. I dont think he will outright stand with Toney for the fight, but i doubt itll start and he'll just shoot in for a double leg takedown. He'll most likely stand and try land a jab or two, then try get toney up to the cage and try dirty box. In summary, I think Randy's punch resistence has deminished in the last few years and if he gets caught at all, Toney is gonna finish him. But if he can nuetralise Toney's hands then he'll win.I'll be tuning in regardless.

Some of you need to a take a step backand look at whats happening. Randy = 47 Tony = 41 There both washed up. No one is in there prime. Can Toney win ? Defiantely, randy hasn't got the strongest chin if he gets hit flush he will go down. Is toney likely to win ? Probabaly not and the odds will reflect that. Once he is taken down the fight will more than likely be over. Randy just better be careful trying to dirty box from the clinch. Boxing fans need to realise mma isn't boxing. Of courese they arn't going to have amazing boxing skills. They wrestle, grapple, kick box is completly different. Kimbo beat Mercer, Mercer Beat Sylvia proves nothing. They are just one off fights. You don't have to like both sports but should at least understand whats happening before you pass judgement.

You've never seen him fight. Unfortunately i have seen Randy fight. He is boring as hell. Ive seen Arturo Gatti fight so don't try telling me Couture is entertaining.

this is just stupid..counture is damn near 50..and toney is punch drunk James is nowhere near punchdrunk...I know him well enough to know that...I dont know much about MMA though...not enough to say what type of chance either guy has....

James Toney is getting walked right into this. He talked his shit and now he's going to pay for it. He's my favorite boxer of all time and now I get to hear all of my friends talk about him getting embarrassed. He's not even that effective as a boxer anymore. of course he could roll out of bed and beat any of these guys in a boxing match, but he's not going to be that sharp, and his chin may not be as good as it was either. After Couture eats a couple of right hands, he's going to easily take Toney down, and ground and pound him until the ref stops it.

unless toney has world class american wrestling in his tool box, he's going to lose, it's too easy for a wrestler to take a boxer down, and once that happens, it's a no go for toney............ couture will always be a beast on the ground, especially against someone who doesn't have anywhere near the experience has him. if couture is nice, he will try and keep it up on his feet until he's not feeling that he's winning standing up, then it goes to the ground and he pounds out a win. not a good fight for toney.
