He has not used his legs much at all in his last two fights, marquez was understandable since he was tiny, but after watching the mosley fight again, I can see that Floyd is focusing more on rolling and defending while staying infront of you and moving very little. I think due to his age taking his legs away, he fights like a prime James Toney, looking to counter any mistakes he sees rather than pot shotting and moving. By the way, I like it a lot.
Floyd is just a pure boxer, He uses his jab and right hand extremely well very simular to Toney in his prime. It's a good comparison because they do have a simular style with the right hand and the way they use the shoulder to defend from punches. I just think Floyd is more versatile, Iv'e never seen a guy who can fight in so many different styles. He adapts to his opponents extremely well
I think mayweather fought that way against mosley, was to keep the pressure on mosley and take the offence due to shane's poor defence. Also he stated before the fight that mosley has gassed out in previous fight, so i guess this was one of the best tactics to slow down mosley.
im talking about PAC................PBF is getting to him.................he might overtrained or something..........
Sorry. Misread your post. But I think the mental fortitude of both is great. For Pac's case, the way he let Cotto hammer him even though it hurt him shows that he is playing the mental game quite well.
His legs looked fine against Marquez...he fights everyone differently...his legs deff aint gone...although they obviously are not be what they were at 140 and below...
I honestly think that Floyd not using his legs for the last two fights is one BIG trap for his next opponent. Ya'll might think I'm crazy but if Floyd doesn't have to use something in his game, then he doesn't use it. It doesn't mean he no longer has it. Mark my words he is setting up his next opponent for a huge surprise if they think that he has lost a step.
I don't think Floyd has lost his legs, he's not stupid enough to put his career and his beloved 0 in danger, Floyd would probably retire after the slightest sign of slipping. If he fought mosley the way he did its because he damn well chose to.
the more aggresive PBF is............better for pacquiao.................specially if PACQUIAOs mental fortitude is as great as his.............................resume
I think it is great. That is one thing that I got from the May 1 fight. He still has the mental strength.

Yup. Actually, I thought this was the basis of Roach statement. Though some fans really took exception to Freddy. Lolz.

i actually like this assessment bully!
:headbang:
i dont think it has anything to do with age though... his legs are there as strong as ever.... he's just gotten better IMO and stronger, he can stand in there... his reflexes are as quick as ever, so he has to use his legs less..... he doesnt look nervous or "flinchy"....
Calling him James Toney is too much of a compliment.
But him losing his legs is a lot better for the sport. Now he can't punk out even if he wanted to.
I love Toney fellow Michigander but Floyd is better then him.
Other than Pacquiao at 147 no one has a chance in hell.
I think on May 1st round 2 we saw the only fighter at WW that can do that. Doubt Pacquiao will close to doing that. This version of Floyd is much more active now he's 2 fights in after his retirement. He shook his rust off against Marquez, fought a tough WW Mosley and took his power shots early, now bring on Pacquiao.
its just one fight.....................doubt he will use it more often............but i do hope he does
