I'm not one of these guys on here saying that Cintron deserved to win the fight like a lot of the trolls on here are. But when I analyzed his style last night, his punching technique looked off last night. An inaccurate flicking jab, bad balance, wide punches. Everybody who listens to me post about Paul Williams knows I'm a fan of the guy, but I'm just trying to recognize real. Mayweather would beat him and quite easily I think.
I'm one of the biggest Paul Williams fans on here, and I think he has holes in his game that Floyd would exploit. That's just my opinion. His jab was awful last night. Guys like Pavlik, Martinez, Cotto, and Angulo would all get beat by Paul in my opinion. So I'm not saying just because he can't beat Floyd he sucks.
lol, everyone seems to think thats the key. i dnt get it. when has mayweather ever showed that pressure and throwing a lot of punches is the way to beat him??? ppl just makin hypothetical shit up in their heads. just dnt make any sense to me.
I think Mayweather would beat a Paul Williams too. But last night didn't show me anything either way.
doesnt have nything to do with him bein a walk in the park...did u pay attention to the path of the conversation at all???
Naah. I don't need to. Check one of my previous posts. PWill will be too slow for Mayweather. Martinez would be more competitive. Still a PWill option is just as interesting considering the height difference.
Good to hear that PWill is a walk in the park for Floyd. Floyd would be encouraged by that and give the guy a big pay day.

A lot of people here are ignorant(don't mean any disrespect) to what what boxing actually is. They see Mayweather's work-rate and think that all his opponent has to do is pressure him throwing more punches than he does. Obviously people who understand boxing know that it's not that simple.

I think it's unfair to judge fighter after three rounds. If Mayweather-Mosley was stopped after 3 rounds, I can guarantee the same sensationalistic, biased idiots, who claim "Cintron was on his way to stopping Williams" would have said the same thing about Mayweather against Mosley. Guaranteed. Three rounds is not enough. This is not the amateur boxing.
Yes, because all you have to do is come out throwing punches to beat Mayweather.

Mayweather and Mosley right now could easily beat Williams. Martinez would have a chance, but there are no guarantees.
In terms of skill level, I would put Devon Alexander ahead of Williams, but in a fight, Williams would be a tougher opponent for anyone due to his freakish physical attributes. Nonetheless, neither would come close to beating Mayweather or Mosley. Pacquiao could beat Alexander (though he would avoid any such fight), but Williams' reach would be just too great.

Agree.
There's no question that Mayweather is the better boxer of the two and also the fastest by a huge margin. The only thing that I'm concerned about is the huge height advantage for Williams. Mayweather must be able to get really close to Williams and avoid that jab. Martinez would be an easier task I reckon.
I used to have Floyd winning this fight, now I'm not sure. Paul gave Cintron a lot of respect, as he should have. You can't go off of last night. Cintron boxed a little better than I thought he would, but Williams never really pressed the attack either. Floyd doesn't hit hard enough for Williams to give himt hat respect. You can bet if Paul ever fought Floyd he'd come out throwing punches from the opening bell on.
yeah i think mayweather would just make williams look like a fresh rookie, he has a lot of exploitable flaws in his game.
I agree. Lets not forget Carlos Quintana did decision Paul. Imagine what Floyd would do.
I've been saying this for a while and last night made more people realize it. Movement and slickness makes Paul Williams work rate drop a shit ton. Floyd and Manny would carve him up, Williams defense has gotten a little better over the past few fights, but nowhere near the point where he could beat the two.

it was a laughable assertion in the first place, that anyone thought this kid could beat mayweather.
last night, although short, reaffirmed the fact that it was a ridiculous thought.
This is why Paul Williams shouldn't be placed in the top 5 pound for pound; if only because people begin discussing matching him up against the other elite guys and he's clearly not ready.
Nothing against Paul- nice guy, interesting style- but both Floyd and Manny would dismantle him. I'm not even sure I think he could capture the middleweight belt from Sergio.
I mean, that's got to be his goal at this point. No reason for him to go after Manny and May - they've got business to attend to.
Paul needs to rematch Cintron in like September - if it could happen so quickly - and then try and go for Martinez at 160. If he can become middleweight champion of the world I'll consider putting him in higher esteem pound for pound wise...
The Punisher has rematches to attend to. That seems to be his thing. Quintana, Cintron, Martinez - if the best won't fight him, he'll just fight the rest; twice!
fukk that shit. pac/floyd isn't gonna happen because floyd is using OST to duck pac. Arum is gonna make pac/margo. he don't give a shit because pinoys and mexicans will buy that ppv. that means floyd has to fight pwill unless pavlik doesn't activates his rematch clause.
stop giving floyd an excuse to duck pwill and fight matt hatton!!! if pwill is so easy to beat, then floyd should fight him!

i cant believe how many people here can take 2 round of paul being cautious and talk about how much he sucks.
Seriously, as soon as he stepped it up, the fight instantly changed.
Give the man his props.i hear you on that---i'm not one of them---as if i have to tell you that---but, it's a shame---these people go off of titles and labels---paul was title and labeled, the most feared man in boxing----and it's not his fault they put that pressure on him----in hindsight anyway---but, i've said for years what i posted earlier---and i have yet to change my mind and do not see myself doing so----

What I saw in Paul Williams last night isn't a guy who can beat Floyd Mayweather. | BoxingScene Community
