I am trying to master the conventional boxing first and formost and I want to know who has the best conventional style of boxing in terms of keeping the hands up,throwing non-stop jab, good footwork and catching punches with gloves
My favs are mayweather and judah but they dont really have a conventional style in a sense so there not the guys I want to copy.
Let me know who has the greatest conventional style of boxing that represents the classical boxer. I know ali was the first unorthodox stylist and everyone envies him and I want to know who is the ali of conventional boxing
As far as genuine orthodox, authentic boxing style is concerned. I have always been most impressed by Wladimir Klitschko, Ricardo Lopez, and Emmanuel Augustus (minus his "drunk-fun" footwork), especially off the ropes.
Any of Klitschko's moves is a picture-perfect boxing lesson, punching, footwork, positioning, defence etc. Lopez , much the same in lesser quantity, and Augustus for head and body movement.
When you have mastered the above attribbutes, you can then allow some of your natural unique idiosyncracies to filter in, but always ready to eliminate them if not successful. This way you'll be able to adapt to different styles in opponents.
And, above all, FITNESS and TRAINING.
early fights of floyd are acctually good to study, he fought way more conventional there. i would highly reccomend watching his amateur fights, he fights more conventional and also has a style fitted for the amateur ranks.
ike quartey would be good, de la hoya too. chad dawson hasnt been mentioned as a lefty. donald curry, marlon starling, davey moore etc
I'd go winky before Quartey and Clottey because winky would slip and swat punches as well. Ike and Clottey would on occasion just absorb. a bad habbit to pick up imo.
Sturm, Dzi, and Winky are probably the better conventional stances to watch.

yeah buut he has good footwork i think he can try to learn some things about those boxers...he doesnt have to imitate them completely
Paulie crosses his feet virtually all fight long. This isn't good footwork.
I think he wants to study people who do things by the book, as originally taught in the gym.
Paulie and many others have poor boxing fundementals, but they get the job done.
Paulie is a no no.
He throws up jabs, flicks his jab, and lets his lead hand wrist on his hip the majority of the time.

i agree...ivan calderon, juan m marquez and even malignaggi are good guys to study

Juan Manuel Marquez for sure. Imagine if he had more power...
Wladimir Klitchko
sergiy dzinziruk
felix sturm
amir khan
ronald wright
vernon forrest
just to name a few who do things by the book.
If you want the very best, though.
Look no further than Ricardo Lopez videos.

Wladimir Klitschko does exactly what you describe in your first paragraph.
Co-sign , if you're a southpaw that is. Watch early fights of Juan Manuel Marquez, or Ricardo Lopez fights. I think those two are some of the best technical stick to the book boxers ever.
