I know Arum gets a lot of hate in the boxing world from a lot of people, and a lot of that is justified, but I really do think that there is no better person to head the biggest boxing promotional company.
Why? Because even with all the success and wealth that Top Rank has achieved, Arum has not settled for that. He doesn't need to do nearly as much promoting and spreading of boxing matches around the world as he is doing. He would be just fine doing all of his shows in 1 city (Las Vegas) and Top Rank would still be a billion dollar company. But he isn't settling... he is trying to make boxing legal everywhere and trying to spread boxing around the world with incredible vigor. He is basically laying a path for all other boxing promoters as well. Because making boxing legal in more countries will also give more opportunities for other smaller promoters in more markets and Top Rank is the only company that is heading the movement.
So as much as is focused on the negative things that Arum does, I don't think people appreciate the positive that Arum is doing. I can't imagine anyone else making boxing as big and popular as it is right now.
Gotta admit, I didn't actually write any of this thread's topic. I was just trying to mock some moron, and hoping to get some good commentary here.

I know Dana gets a lot of hate in the MMA world from a lot of people, and a lot of that is justified, but I really do think that there is no better person to head the biggest MMA organization.
Why? Because even with all the success and wealth that the UFC has achieved, Dana has not settled for that. He doesn't need to do nearly as much promoting and spreading of the UFC brand around the world as he is doing. The UFC would be just fine doing all their shows in 1 city (Las Vegas) and they would still be a billion dollar company. But he isn't settling... he is trying to make MMA legal in every state and trying to spread MMA around the world with incredible vigor. He is basically laying a path for all other MMA organizations as well. Because making MMA legal in more states will also give more opportunities for other smaller organizations in more markets and the UFC is the only company that is heading the movement to legalize MMA everywhere.
So as much as is focused on the negative things that Dana White does, I don't think people appreciate the positive that Dana is doing. I can't imagine anyone else making MMA as big and popular as it is right now.
Arum promoted those fighters but he didn't "build" any of them. And Mayweather took off in stature after he left Arum. Delahoya would have been huge with any promoter. And it's no coincidence that both Delahoya and Mayweather left Arum.
This is just an assumption but I'm guessing your into Rap/Hip-hop. If you are then boxing is the same way in the sense DLH and Floyd are like Jay-Z and others. They start off under big name companies, build their names, only to branch off and become their own business men...making millions upon millions. Pac and Cotto are like Nas, in the sense that they don't become their own boss and stay under a big name company, still making money, but not that "I'm my own boss money" like Floyd and Oscar
Arum was responsible for Oscar's and Floyd's earlier buzz (no matter what anyone says), but like smart businessmen, they branched off to be their own men, something more boxers should try to do. I don't think it was so much as they hated Arum or he was a bad guy...it was just the smart move to make (look at how nice Oscar is sitting now that he started GBP).
BTW...I know this analogy was terrible..lol, but this is the best way I could think of at the moment to describe their situation.
Arum has built several guys like Pac, Cotto, Mayweather, De la Hoya, Margarito, Morales and countless others.
Not only that but he is getting the lowerweight class guys shines with his latin fury and other small PPV fights. If it wasn't for that I would have to watch sh1tty streams, but thx to him I can order and watch fighters like Montiel, Calderon, Donaire and others I would have never been able to see.
Bringing boxing back to its roots with fights in major stadiums was also a stroke of genius. Cowboys Stadium, Yankees Stadium and soon to be Giants Stadium are great venues for the sport of boxing.
I like Arum alot as a promoter and he has always been great for the sport of boxing.

People have been hating on Arum since long before the Floyd-Pac blowup of the last 12 months. It's not exactly news.
I know I have. I disliked him long before Pacquiao or Mayweather came on the scene.
The only thing Arum is good for is putting cards together without the need or help of TV networks apart from that he does nothing really for boxing than bring it down.
Absolutely correct. And he trashes fighters that leave him. He's good at that I guess.

Exactly, a bunch of these biased mofo's don't like him cuz he promotes Pac or cuz Floyd doesn't like him.
If Im not mistaken he was the first to bring boxing back on regular TV with his Top Rank live series. I love this because I always like watching young prospects and future stars early on in there career, and we get a chance since thats who is mostly fighting on those Top Rank live cards.

Why there is no other promoter better for the sport, like you posted...
what else?
Im curious to read why someone would believe that
Because, all the other promoters do not really promote their fightes. If they can't get TV money then they would bring money out of their pocket to keep their fighters in the public eye.
Say what you want about Arum. But, he is willing to go in his pocket to make sure his fighters stay relevant, stay in the public, keeping them active. He don't depend on TV money.
He is the last real promoter left. He knows how to build up a star and he can develop a fanbase.
I tell you other underrated promotional companies who are not big name but are very good. Thompson boxing promotions, TKO promotions, and Prizefight promotions. Those are very top not promotional companies who are not as big name as Shaw or Dibella. But, IMO do a better job as a promotional company. They know how to build up stars and fan bases. Again real promotional companies.
What point do you want me to explain exactly?

I love Top Rank. I don't care what anybody says. Everybody hates on him but there is no other promotional company better for the sport than Top Rank.
explain why..
